Was Corypheus Influencing Anders?

This thought just occurred to me recently and I thought I'd see what others thought of this: could Corypheus have been influencing Anders into blowing up the Chantry?

Here are some things that make me think that might have been possible:

1. We know the encounter with Corypheus happens regardless of whether or not you played the DLC in your world state

2. We know Corypheus can control Anders, since Anders is still a Grey Warden.

3. We know Corypheus has been planning *for years*, probably since he reincarnated after Hawke & team "killed him"

4. We know Anders insists that it wasn't Justice who influenced him to blow up the Chantry, but that doesn't mean some other force couldn't have been controlling him.

So wouldn't it be plausible that perhaps once Corypheus reincarnated that he found a way to control/influence Anders into blowing up the Chantry, setting all the events in motion that led to the Conclave and the events in Inquisition? As much as Justice wants...well, justice for the mages, I never thought he'd think it just to kill innocents, but Corypheus wouldn't care less how many innocents died in his quest for godhood.

Does anyone else think this could be plausible?

No, if you bring Anders you see what happens if Cory tries to control Anders, Justice goes berserk.

As for Anders saying Justice wasn't influencing him, I believe he only says that if you friend him. If you rival him then he puts more blame on Vengence gaining more and more influence over him.

What if after that first encounter, Corypheus gets more subtle with his approach? Perhaps does it in a way Justice can't detect?

To what end? I doubt Corypheus is enough of a chessmaster to know a war would break out soon after between mages and templars. Unless you think it was his last ditch effort to get Dumat to notice him again. ("Ryuu-senpai, look! I blew up a chantry for you!" Does make me lol, though)

Blowing up a Chantry is exactly in character for Vengeance. Anders makes it clear the old Justice that cared about innocents and mercy is gone.

I just go with all of Kirkwall going gradually mad through indirect blood magic somehow.

The Legacy DLC can be completed after the main game, if I recall correctly. Anders may be dead by then.

It can be played after the main game, but it occurs within the timeline of the game, before the Chantry explosion. That's been confirmed by BioWare on a few occasions (and therefore Anders would always be alive, even if you chose to not include him in your party.)

I recently read an interesting theory about the possibility of Kirkwall sitting ontop of a lot of Red Lyrium (and therefore a tainted Titan), which would explain *alot* about all the crap going on in Kirkwall.

i have heard that Tevinter Mages went crazy train and did a huge blood magic ritual and a lot of people died.

But Corypheus wasn't up when that happened. It may be that Corypheus - through the Blight - influenced (without thinking) Justice, driving it berserk. Anders is still partly sane in Act I.

After reading all the Enigma of Kirkwall pieces, I tend more towards the theory, that Anders and Justice suffered heavily from the torn veil and the lingering of evil (which the Tevinters seemed to have invoked on purpose by killing innocents in most horrible ways ) - both of them seem to influence already troubled beings more, than down to earth people like Aveline or Varric (or Ser Thrask, Seamus, Elthina to name a few native people from Kirkwall). If Anders/Justice would never have come to Kirkwall, they could have been fine. It's just a theory, but seeing, how Anders was never an extremist and how easily Justice fought Corypheus influence in the DLC, I find this theory more likely.

But who knows - maybe Corypheus was just testing Justice in the DLC and let him win on purpose. The whole Anders/Justice story would deserve a story to explain fully - especially since we can do nothing to change it, the least I would like to have, would be a good expalnation. I like Anders - even in DA2, but I don't like characters suddenly going nuts on me (same with Meredith and Orsino of course)

It could be less Corypheus puppeteering Anders, and more his aura/presence inflicting SAN loss or giving him a Willpower penalty.
