That's not what I'm objecting to. (Although I do actually object to it, but that's irrelevant to this argument.) My current objection is to the idea that not having male strippers is inherently sexist. That idea that culture must evolve to this particular point.

Pffft. Also are you actually pretending that having male strippers is some sort inherently unique cultural evolution?

The Shepard trilogy mainly showed Shepard when she was fighting or commanding, naturally. There must be hours of "gameplay" in between scenes that are never showed. I always had a headcanon that my Shepard loved tea, cooking and watering flowers in her off-time.

My suggestion? Just use your imagination. I don't think the script is so over-empowering that it's impossible to imagine she has her fragile moments.

You are quite right, mate, but no victory awaits you, no cheering crowd. This type of discussions are taboo this days, and, to be honest, not worth it.

I guarantee you will be misinterpreted and attacked. Religion, politics... and feminisim are things you should avoid speaking off. You'll be happier, believe me.

Yeah those two are jerks, but I would add Wrex as well. Remember after Shepard is made spectre, he's waiting for you at the elevator before he/she goes up. He shoves/pushes you. I wanted my femshep to put another hole in his head. Its funny that femshep can say something to Harkin for his comments and gets a renegade interrupt when that batarian makes a comment, but a character that pushes/shoves femshep there is no reaction. Fortunately I don't recruit the guy or I let Ashley kill him on Virmire

...Seems a tad disproportionate.

Patrick Weekes asked fans what they wanted before ME3 came out. A majority of femshep players wanted the dialogue to remain neutral with respect to sex.

Yes, *really*. Use your eyes. Specifically, use your ability to judge volumes and how shapes are influenced by clothing.

First picture: a squashed b-cup thanks to the armor. Second picture, another b-cup with a flatter profile than the third picture, which is, yes, ANOTHER b-cup but with a much higher profile bra.

A side profile picture only tells part of the story in any case.

I'd take "geek culture" women anytime everyday over "pop shite".

I don't remember how that scene goes, since I usually get Wrex from C-Sec before hitting Fist's bar. Needless to say Fist never lives.

Is this a joke/parody? : (
As a woman I want to say that Bioware did many things very well. Of course there were still issues but I want to thank that no game has ever made me feel both so feminist and feminine same time: thank you.

Me too.  I loved Fem Shep.  Sure there were a few things I'd change but on the whole, she was great.  I've actually enjoyed playing all of their games as a female.

I seem to remember both male and female Shepard had broken necks when I'd go from talking to Joker back to the command center.  Fixing that kind of stuff, and using separate animations would be nice.

True, though there were a few little scenes where some NPC would be a jerk to FemShep, like Harkin and the batarian recruiter on Omega, which, admittedly, added much to FemShep for me, because of the dialogue you could choose in response, particularly the renegade interrupt in the latter.

The ME1 dialogue with Harkin is one of my favorite.  The Batarian recruter 2nd favorite.  I pretty much used renegade no matter what kind of Shepard I was playing.

Creating world and characters they can also create something that makes players uncomfortable. I was annoyed about these scenes in ME, but since there was just couple short games I let it pass and still consider ME games my fav games. However there is limit how much I'll take this annoyance of sexism in the game and I left Witcher 1 unfinished, because of this reason.

It's possible that ME tried to create bit sexist world, but balance it out with bit of power fantasy, your main character can fight back people being sexist towards her. Or then just give this feminist power fantasy, but well actually first option sounds more plausible: wanting to add sexist elements and then balancing it out. I don't really think brought anything to the game nor these character, especially when this character-building was missing when person played male Shepard.. and it shows that these things were add especially for fem Shep and players who play fem Sheps. Great.

ME didn't bother me, I enjoyed picking renegade options for my paragon/polite Shepard and I'm glad they added them.  I did use the paragon or neutral response occasionally if I wanted to do my personal - ignore this kind of stupidity and stupidity will always be with us.  I can't say I saw it as power fantasy, but my idea of a power fantasy is Tank Girl killing the guy with her legs.  :)

Witcher however I never bothered picking any of them up.  Everything I heard made me think I would not enjoy it.

It sounds great on the surface - but they might pick a female soldier who was a graduate of Madame Poshipuffs Finishing School of Coquetry, and we'd still be screwed.

Because cutscenes - and more specifically, sex scenes - I'd imagine. They (sex scenes) are one of the reasons why we can't have nice things.

LOL  I can see the steel pointed fan and curtsy now.   That would be a very different kind of soldier.

I enjoyed ME1's "sex scenes"  but agree that and the cut scenes are probably why they don't do different body types.  And ME3 I actually enjoyed the comments like Kaidan telling Shepard to wake him up next time before she leaves.  I could be happy with more of that and body options but I can't see them getting rid of the cut scenes.

Why not? You have no idea what will be happening in the future especially in 170 years. And so what if there ends up being as many women as men who like strippers. What's the big deal? Does that bother you?

I think there could be more to it than that.

Starting with trying to figure out the whole point and purpose of the club dancers in ME. Is it pure titillation? Maybe - but I can't help but think that they'd all have unlimited access to an entire galaxy of p0rn on their omni-tools.

The comments about "shaking their asses" and the bachelor party scene were, I think, unfortunate - because it painted the club dancers in the same light as your basic stripper / lap dancer (all about male-gaze titillation).

For me, the real entertainment value is simply watching graceful, shapely bodies move in orchestrated dance steps. When it comes to things like ballet and ice dancing, I find the male performers every bit as interesting to watch as the females.

So, did anyone else read the thread title and think of the Mass Effect: Andromeda logo, but with a little pink bow on top of it and false eyelashes? Did that image make them gigglesnort like a total loon?

Weird... I was kind of thinking the same thing. Call it a bit of bisexuality I guess, but I can't help but enjoy watching male or female strippers. I don't even want them on me. I just like to watch.

I think it's more likely that they were just taking an easy route to characterize Harkin as a douchebag as effectively as they could, as opposed to any overarching scheme in their world building strategy.

edit:

Seeing how you saw these things only with female character.. more like they were added for female PC does suggest that they weren't things needed in the game. I guess there is different things people want and don't want to see in the games and how much they can take content they get annoyed over, but I really question necessary of those scenes in the game.

EDIT: And also why some of players thought they were nice add for female PC.

Being cool with content doesn't necessarily mean approving of the actions depicted in that content. I'm okay with the portrayal of sexists while not liking sexism, just as I like the portrayal of the reapers while not liking genocide.

If they're going to invoke such situations for female characters, then they should also include them for male characters. It's really unfortunate, imo, that all of the club strippers were asari and female, and for several reasons. Otherwise, they could have included maleShep in the whole being mistaken for a dancer bit.

Frankly, the whole idea that that sort of sexism still exists in a galactic community founded by an all-female species is a little bizarre. If anything, it should be the other way around.

I'm completely with you in the belief that some things should develop within the lore.

I think the implementation and the treatment of how the Asari effect the galactic culture has always been a little inconsistent.
