Really? I thought there was a canon Shep and he was male. Maybe I just thought that since virtually all of the promo materials featured the male Shep.

No canon shepard but it would be nice to see a Female protagonist in the initial trailer for ME:A. I'm really liking what Bioware is doing for the DA:I DLC trailers right now. They have featured the female inquisitor twice for Descent and Trespasser.

(edit- and I think everyone agrees that Alix Wilton Reagan did an amazing job with the line in the trailer)

Yes, *really*. Use your eyes. Specifically, use your ability to judge volumes and how shapes are influenced by clothing.

First picture: a squashed b-cup thanks to the armor. Second picture, another b-cup with a flatter profile than the third picture, which is, yes, ANOTHER b-cup but with a much higher profile bra.

A side profile picture only tells part of the story in any case.

Whether they look bigger or are bigger, there is no need for that. Soldiers don't need push up bras.

They will release a female trailer along with male in MEA. Which is good news tbh.

Word Budget

Let's remember that the game has something called a word budget.  Adding a female script adds to the budget, which means subtracting from something else.

Now, it does add depth to the game... no question.  However, it's too late for ME:A.

Maybe for ME 4.

Weird... I was kind of thinking the same thing. Call it a bit of bisexuality I guess, but I can't help but enjoy watching male or female strippers. I don't even want them on me. I just like to watch.

I don't know that it has anything to do with sexuality, but I suppose that depends on the individual. One can appreciate eye candy without finding it titillating.

There is nothing wrong with standing hip-cocked and girly. Some of us like standing that way.

For individuals (or NPCs) who choose that behavior, no - there's nothing wrong with it.

Forcing the PC to be girly is probably not a great idea, though. A character that sticks her hip out as shown in the poster - or walks/runs like Hawke or the Inquisitor - is not a character I want to play (or watch for the entirety of a game).

I'm completely with you in the belief that some things should develop within the lore.

I think the implementation and the treatment of how the Asari effect the galactic culture has always been a little inconsistent.

Between their cultural preference for mating with other species and their omnipresence as strippers/dancers, they were really set up as sex vendors to the galaxy - which can lead some observers to conclude that their primary source of power and influence is sex appeal. There were plenty of codex entries mentioning a strong economy, arts and culture, political prowess, and combat success - but all of that was later called into question by the revelation of the Prothean beacon and direct influence in their development.

I really don't understand what Bioware was trying to do with their portrayal - it is a mixed bag at best.

Do you recall in Dragon Age: Origins, when Wynn was talking to Alistair about how he was staring at some girls swaying hips? If I seen a girl swaying her hips, I would probably stare too But that is not the point. This thread just remind me of that conversation.

Pretty sure that comment occured only if there was a Romance between Alistair and the female Player, and "some girl" was said female Player.

Oh... well thanks for the reminder, Feybrad. I cannot fully remember all the little details from Orgins. It was so long ago for me.

. Well unless they have multiple animations for each character that maybe you choose at char gen(which I support) someone is getting forced to watch animations they don't like or would prefer to be different.

I'm not sure forcing non-girly is better than forcing girly. Though dragon age seemed to really take the run animation to an extreme.

The asari are still my favorite race, probably b/c I played ME3 first ... that game is naturally slightly more progressive than its predecessors so the asari weren't portrayed as the sex goddesses of the galaxy lol

I'm really sad about what was revealed regarding their culture and the Protheans, but then again, it just sheds a light on the origins, doesn't really take away from the amazing culture they've built up.

Well "non-girly" just means "natural" without any outside influence. The way the body moves naturally. You can train yourself to move in a more masculine or feminine way (according to social convention). But I'd prefer to see a natural body movement for both male and female player characters - the movement, for the most part, shouldn't be too different, but BioWare likes to create hypermasculne and hyperfeminine movements for their characters for some reason. My inquisitor, for example, walks like he has the biggest pair of *ahem* between his legs; it's so ridiculous.
