I didn't even know this was a thing until recently.
What's with the Arishok fangirling?

Are we talking the Arishok of Origins and II, or the Arishok post-DA2? Because those would be two different characters.

Really? I didn't know it was a thing. Now that I think about it, it was pretty hot when he walked up to Hawke and did that thing where he rested his blade on his shoulders. Really emphasized those muscles thooooooo.
edit
Okay, I guess it's a thing then.

'Cause he's swol, he's got sweet armor, doesn't care 'bout nobody's opinion of him, and that voice tho.

People are fangirling about Cory and Samson too because of their voices.
That's what you get when Gideon Emery voices a secondary antagonist.....

Is there a charismatic male villain that ISN'T the target of fangirling? You should see the Samson thread.

Well, when you put in play the deep voice, masculinity, and his give no shits attitude, I suppose that makes for a swoon-worthy character, no?
And let's be honest, his voice is pretty damn great.
Samson, Cory, Garrus and Thane (Mass Effect), they all have exceptionally good voices = the fangirling over each of them.

Cause he's awesome.
And yeah, that voice. I'm a straight male and I'm attracted to that voice. Voices are a great point for attraction for a lot of people. One of my favourite (as in sexiest) actresses is Laura Prepon, and mostly because of her voice.

The Arishok is hilarious. He goes to Kirkwall to find the ToK, fails, throws a fit, kills the vicount to purge the city of its corruption, creates a power vacuum that empowers his enemies, gets his ass kicked in a duel... Dude did nothing right, suave AF voice though.

It's the voice.
Doesn't help that there's fanart depicting how he would've looked if he was fully human.

I did romance Garrus in ME for that reason...so it was a combination of the voice acting and dialogue/personality of the character. A big reason is I'm also very sensitive to uncanny valley so I tend to prefer LIs that aren't super realistic looking anyway. I still can't play default male Shep because of his creepy facial expressions.
Anyway I suppose fans of Sten and the Arishok were a big reason we got a romamcable qunari for DAI?

I'd be more surprised about the Cory fangirling if I didn't know there was also stuff out there about the Architect.

The Architect has fangirls, REALLY? He makes Cory look like a gem. You can't even say that thing has a sexy voice!
I've seen it all, haven't I..?
edit: so, I just looked into the Corypheus and The Architect, involving the fangirling, I mean. I have so many regrets. I make poor life choices. Of all the characters in Dragon Age, they pick Corypheus and The Architect.

^ No regrets seeing that, though.

What is dis? It's hurting my eyes, and whom fangirls over the Arishock? He's.... A guy that attacks Kirkwall because he's annoyed at people for not being under the Qun (or certainty, and he's there because of Isabela, a thief that is incriebly selfish, but i found her to saniest while rivalmancing her) and yeah, I'm questioning dis.

I had no idea about any of this lol. Corypheus and the Architect? They're pretty much decomposing. Bleurgh. The voice of the Arishok is pretty smokin' though.

Hey, as the Tumblr post going around points out, if the Architect had any ties to Urthemiel, the Tevinter god of beauty, he could well have been a looker back before he got all blight-ified...
Seriously, though, the attitude (how many of us are totally on board the 'burn Kirkwall to the ****** ground' train ANYWAY? The Arishok doesn't even bother hiding his disdain for the city), the rack (horns AND bare chest), and the voice? I can see how people would be attracted to the Arishok.

Does it count as fangirling is my main thing is just wanting to grab his horns and swing on them like playground bars? Not even sexual, I was just disappointed there's never an option for Hawke to do this during their fight.
But I gotta admit, that voice, man...
