I'm not sure where to post this one (especially now, with the closed OT).

 

Couple of days ago I was surprised to see that DG's old tumblr went live again (my RSS reader had followed him all the time, and notified me about the updates), but I have doubts that those new posts have something to do with DG himself, or that he is even aware about it. It looks like a random collection of his interviews and old posts (non-formatted mostly), with some strange YT video in the middle.

 

Blog uses his old style, the title and the user pic along with his user-info (Lead Writer of BioWare's Dragon Age game series, lover of fan tears. This is where I blog about game development, fandom, and narrative design. Anything I say here is my opinion alone.)

 

BW (or Mr. Gaider himself)  should probably do something about it, no?

IRRC one of Gaiders accounts has been hacked, but I don't know if it was his twitter or tumbl account.

I doubt he will ever go back. Tumblr is crawling with SJW and feminists that constantly bothered him with messages berating him for every little thing he said. BSN is almost an paradise when compared to that place.

I still wonder how he managed to stay that long at that place. The things they said to him and accused him of are ridiculous.

He is snarky and has little tolarance for stupidity and bigotry and he doesn´t know how to keep his mouth shut if someone annoys him which made him a target for unjust accusations.

And hell are the people at tumblr sensitive creatures.

 

It´s a pity, I liked his posts.

Ugh, this pisses me off so much. This is exactly why the devs don't come here anymore, there's negativity everywhere. I love Gaider and the team, this just sucks.

Yeah he de-activiated that. It was a real shame, because it was a great way to be able to contact him directly with lore-based questions without being struck by twitter character limits. Some eventually got answered via DLCs or other tidbits, but I had a list. I can only remember these:

Have dwarves or Qunari invented glasses? If so, which; and how advanced? (Answer: yes, dwarves. Still don't know how complex though.)

Do the Chasind and/or Avaar have metalworking, or do they mostly trade for it? Do they mostly use pottery and leathers? (JoH seems to show that yes, they are familiar with metalworking, as they have smithing stations. New question: where do they get their metals?)

Have dwarves or Qunari invented steam or clockwork machinery? How advanced? (Answer: dwarves apparently have basic clockwork, including actual clocks. They tend to use running water rather than steam in their machinery though.)

He had abandoned it several months ago, unfortunately.

 

Still, I think something must be done about such impostors.

(most people bothering him were critisising dragon age 2, actually. Wish people wouldn't make things about sexism etc when it has little to do with the situation, like this case. Seems 'tumblr' is a sort of trigger word for people to go 'RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE FEMINISTS RABBLE').

It's stupid but so far it's not that harmful. Just seems to be reposting old stuff.

Gaider employs sarcasm in most of his writings. Sadly, this requires the reader to have a rudimentary grasp of context and ambivalence. Weekes is more careful, but sooner or later he'll be accused of being an elvhen supremacist because he likes his fantasy names with apostrophes.

The hacking was likely reported by now, though.
