Okay, the things I want to accomplish for my endgame:

I want to avoid Morrigan's "Dark Ritual"

I want my PC (noble warrior) to survive

I want Alistair to marry Anora

Is this all doable?  I assume that not doing the Dark Ritual means that you or Alistair has to die in order to kill the Archdemon.  (Why not Riordan?)  The only way to avoid that is to accept Loghain into the Grey Wardens and have him bite the bullet.  But that leaves Alistair feeling betrayed.  (But what if you harden him in the "Goldanna" episode?)

A nice little dilemma.  This game certainly teaches you the meaning of the word:  "trade-off."

If you harden Alistair, you can make him a king and have Loghain to kill the archdemon... Alistair will be mad at you, but you can't have everything.

I believe Riordan is too old for the Ritual to work with him. I believe he tells you that the Taint will not spare him much longer, implied that he will be heading into the Deep Roads soon.

Actually Riordan, as the eldest Warden plans to take the Killing blow, and thus sacrifice himself to take out the Archdemon.  This is Plan A.

But everything doesn't always follow the plan. So Plan B...

Ok.. I've seen that done.

Alistair  will marry Anora. Alistair will be mad about Loghain becoming a Gray.

Make that asp of a man Loghain a Gray-he will make the final blow..

Morrigan will get mad and walk away when you need her the most-unless your character is a mage.

Since Loghain  is a criminal and has proven he can not be trusted kill the jerk for his many crimes, do the ritual and be the rightful hero.

+1 for the above.

The only things you need to remember are to harden Alistair during his sidequest, have Alistair and Anora agree to marry, and to NOT let Alistair duel Loghain.

When the duel comes, spare and recruit Loghain. Alistair will be furious and leave your party, but if the above is in place, he will still agree to marry Anora and reign as King.

Then you can refuse Morrigan's ritual and have Loghain take the killing blow against Archie.

As stated above, Alistair will still be angry at you. But them's the breaks.

I did that but I performed the dark ritual and had Loghain live.

Alistair was so mad even after he became king. However, he got over it in Awakening.

Its hard to let Loghain live if your playing as a elf or a dwarf. In my games that asp of a man   Loghain will pay for his many crimes just like his henchman Arl Howel.  Maybe if I played that far as a shem I might spare him but,I 'm yet to play beyond the fade as a shem.

Damn knife-ears!  :D

What's dwarf's problem with Loghain exactly? I don't think the dwarf would give a damn...

Vlada47,As a brand I think its a way Rikku (I always use that name) get even with nobles after  years of  mistreatment as a duster and the sting of being called a brand on her return to Orzammar and even though she is a GW. She knows down deep she will never be accepted as anything more then a brand  in Orzammar..

My  GWs  is stone cold toward those who has wrong them or their kind and mercy never enters their mind. Of course elves and brands have one thing in common.. They are hated. and abused.

Yeah, but where Loghain comes in that picture? I don't see him wrong the dwarf commoner more than he wronged other Wardens (Cousland, Amell, Aeducan...).

Vlada47, Maybe Rikku is  looking for payback?  After all Logain placed a price on her head and sent assassins to kill her.. Considering  Rikku's past I don't think she would be all lovey dovey toward a man that wants her dead. :o ;)

As far as the others you mention remember the GWs are ruthless to their enemies. Loghain has proven he is a enemy of the Grays.

BSpud, Not really.. I just know how I would react if somebody put a price on my head, sent assassins after me and wanted me dead.. Think I'm going to be all lovey dovey and all forgiving  when we finally meet?  Not going to happen.

Duncan mention GW are ruthless to their enemies.

As an elf, I just can't spare Loghain. What he did (or let Howe do) in the Alienage is beyond cruel.

As a human noble you have reason to kill Loghain too. He is the force behind Howes betrayal, so he is basically one of your parents murderers. I can't see, how one can spare him there.

I guess a dwarf (especially a noble cast dwarf) would probably have the least problems with him, But of course there is still the detail, that he betrayed the wardens and is directly responsible for Duncans death. So depending on how your dwarf sees the GW and Duncan, he/she would probably want to kill him nontheless. And apart from dwarves and elves not getting along that good, a dwarf with a bit of empathy would probably want to stop the man, who sold innocent people into slavery and who has as his second a man, who is a bit too fond of torture (for those, who found Howes torture chamber in the Denerim estate, which would probably be most players, I guess).
