Since Inquisition is soon coming to a close, I wanted to point out a few things I especially liked. I've already talked about what I didn't like in various threads over the forums, so I won't bring that up in here.

In no particular order, DA:I really excelled at the following:

a. Level design/environments: Although the exploration areas generally lacked depth in terms of meaningful story content, they were always beautiful. From the cold shores of the Storm Coast to the grand forests of the Emerald Graves to the dark pathways of the Deep Roads (Descent), these worlds were a marvel to look at, and I hope whoever is responsible for designing them doesn't leave BioWare any time soon.

b. Companions: This one goes without saying. It's a BioWare game. This includes romances, companion personal quests, and dialogues.

c. Soundtrack: While it may not be the best soundtrack ever, it was, in my opinion, better than many of its kind. The tavern songs in particular were beautifully written.

I think this sums up my thoughts on what I actually liked about the game. It remains a solid 8.5 in my books, and I hope BioWare takes into consideration all the feedback they can get for future projects, Dragon Age or otherwise.

Feel free to comment or share your own perspective on what you found appealing.

War Table exceeded all my expectations. That moment when I realized shortest completion time was a really crappy way to designate advisors and that the mission had actual thought put into which advisor would make the best outcome or alternatively giving equally viable outcomes but varying the specifics based on what the advisors did. Getting War Table mission chains was very rewarding and a stark contrast to the one-and-done style of actual area side quests. Having the way you handled War Table missions determine the nature of your reputation as an organization (military might, intel organization, political broker powerhouse). It was all handled beautifully. Yes, there is room for improvement like everything, but considering this was a brand new feature it is impressive how much thought was put into it.

In summary the War Table missions are actually probably the best example of choice and consequence in the entire game and I loved them as ways to RP the head of the Inquisition.

Who says its coming to a close?

But I truly loved the diverse class of companions we got from this game this time around. Each was like nothing we've seen before.

I loved the interaction wish there could have been a bit more tho. One of the highlights for me was in the second act while in Skyhold I started to talk to Leliana to get to know more about her and she replied with something close to

" Oh now you want to talk to me and get to know more about me? You didn't seem to have the interest before. Maybe another time"

And that by itself was amazing to me to see how she reacted to me not interacting with her outside of the necessary. I haven't seen to be the same with other companions yet but I'd hope they would have done it for others as well.

The only thing I think Inquisition excelled in was the companions/advisors, including the romances and their respective quests.

Even though the areas are beautiful, I wouldn't say BioWare excelled there. Any developer can build a beautiful world. For me, the world had to be filled with interesting things to do, and I didn't feel like Inquisition delivered on that. If there were more than fetch quests dotting the landscape, I would have enjoyed those areas a lot more, and would then have been able to say BioWare excelled there. But, I have no doubt that BioWare can excel in this in the next Dragon Age game.

Trespasser is the last DLC. After that, I would expect a few more patches and then not a lot else. The game has nearly run it's course.

I still think the companions could have been better. A lot better. So not sure that would be on my list. Really my list for things I'm fully satisfied with is really really short. Mostly visuals only. I guess the only other gameplay that I really enjoyed was how they had IB and Dorian hook up. That was really cute and unexpected. I think it made the characters feel more alive than they did in previous games.

But in all reality they had no consequences other than what we reported to us. Yes I give it to them that it was amazing to read the after math of my decision. But I would have preferred to see it more in person. Maybe depending on a choice a Noble would get angry and visit the Stronghold for a meeting with you. Or maybe refugees actually start to poor into the Stronghold which ever your at. Or maybe I even accompany them on some of the missions. I would have liked to deal with my family personally.

I also wish I could have delegated all the freaking Agents I acquired to do things for me what's the point of having them if they are gonna do nothing?

All in all its a great addition to the game but kinda lack luster in some areas.

Aside from the hair and facial hair, the CC was far better than any BioWare has done before. The whole sequence from when you close the breach to when you're named inquisior at Skyhold is fantastic as well. I also like that many more characters and background NPCs of color were added.

Oh did they announce it's the last one?

Just thought since EA was trying to do more of a let a game live on through more DLC type things it wouldnt be the last.

It's confirmed to be the last story DLC. Even if they still shell out mutliplayer DLC after that (which I doubt), it won't really mean much as long as the story has concluded.

I don't really feel like that's a reasonable expectation for the scale the War Table employs, though it does happen for some missions. One that comes to mind is promoting Ser Barris to Knight Commander after doing his War Table mission chain. Would it be great if a bunch of the WT missions had cutscenes at their end showing something? Sure, but that would also pretty much constitute the entire game's budget on cinematics. The reason I said it exceeded my expectations is because my expectations were calibrated according to things like Assassin's Creed Brotherhood missions, which don't have nearly the same level of depth of storytelling or variance in outcome. They are basically a pass/fail check based on the strength of the Assassins you send with the reward just being some money and nothing else. Now, Brotherhood also gave you cutscenes whenever a recruit did enough missions to become an "assassin" but they were all copy/paste. A nice touch, but compared to Dragon Age Inquisition it's very shallow and undeveloped. I think Mike Laidlaw said that a given playthrough might not see something in the neighborhood of 100 War Table missions just based on choices. I love that.

No but it is a lot more story and companion driven. It's supposed to be a little similar to the Citadel DLC from Mass Effect 3, but also finishes off the Inquisitors story at the same time.

Continuation and characters never going massively OOC. The worst a character that came from another game/book was just being boring. Nothing like a certain north king......

War Table was also better then I thought because there was in fact effort put into the,m. If you didn't bother reading and just sending rare advisers to go, you would fail, plus there was war table arcs that would diverge depending on who you sent on thew past.

Particle effects, lighting and water effects where also amazing and thus off set the horrible hair quality.

This. When I look back and think about what I enjoyed about DAI, I can only think about one. And that's how the worlds looked, but then they failed to fill them with interesting stories and NPCs and everything just felt static.

I don't think it's not reasonable in any sense. I never said they had to be cutscenes but just a NPC coming for a meeting with the Hearld on why they did what they did if the choice seemed to ****** them off. From there you could choice to entertain the convo or tell them to leave.

Something close to the judgments we have. They can easily be set up that way. I'd rather see a actual impact from most of the rather than read about it is all I'm saying.

Still sucks just wish it was more if a expansion seeing as it ends everything ya know?

I mean I'm happy that it's more story driven everyone's been wanting that. So there's that to look forward to.

I think Companions were pretty awesome. I wish they were more Vocal and showed their feeling towards our actions a bit more than than just a disapprove and a approve.

Did you ever encounter how Leliana would act towards you if you didn't speak to her during the first act?

I mean companion reactions are there just not in bulk and hidden.

At least you can talk to companions in DAI and there's no silly friendship/rival system.

I expected more I guess. I didn't feel as connected to most of them as I did in DAO or in DA2. If I had to pick the game where I thought the companions were really well done it would have been DA2. I know everyone hates that game and at times I do too, but they really made the characters feel alive. More real. Their banter was much more vibrant and alive than the banter we got in DAI. Unfortunately, we got too many characters in DAI that were more happenstance than anything. Awhile I adore Cullen I can't help, but feel he is like an Alistair 2.0 with stronger feelings against mages. Sera I am still trying to figure out what point she played. Why I even chose to bring her along since all she did was act strange.

Cullen>Alistair

And I can't see how the companions in DA2 where more alive when

1:You rarely talk to them

2:No matter how much you ****** them off they never leave until the end game  which makes no goddamn sense for certain character

Companions felt more alive in DAO and DAI.

Out of the Quests, I thought Champions of the Just, In Your Heart Shall Burn, and Here Lies the Abyss were the best.

Companions, I thought Cassandra, Bull, and Cole were the best written, and they were by far my favorites.
