So far this game seems to be one big wasted opportunity.

First off we're stuck playing as just a human again? I mean really? This isn't the Milky Way where humanity was the new kid on the block, and is trying to fit in. This is literally a new frontier for all the milky way species. The whole galaxy is basically Terra Incognita for all the Milky Way species but we're stuck in one perspective again.

It could have been something like the Milky Way species, specifically the council species working together in new territory to find a place for all of them.

Secondly. "The Remnants"? Really? Just couldn't resist adding Protheans 2.0 huh? Now we're gonna have to deal with some bullcrap about running around the new Galaxy grabbing as much ancient tech as we can that for some reason hasn't already been scooped up by the native species. Though I think I can sort of appreciate it as being similar to the Gold Rush. But it's just gonna be another tedious "find the mcguffin that will fix all our problems" situation.

Why not just let the Milky Way species just settle and grow on their own merits without having to scrounge and rely on ANOTHER dead species technology.

Thirdly. We have to save the Galaxy again!? How CONVENIENT that the moment our human protagonist sets their foot in a new Galaxy that it needs to be saved right off the bat. Because heaven forbid that humanity can't go someplace without it miraculously needing be saved by their chosen special snowflake of the decade.

Why did we have to save the Galaxy again? I get that we need a "big bad" or whatever, but I would think that starting a foundation colony in a new Galaxy, working with(and competing with) other species from the Milky Way while trying to get along with(or subdue) native Alien species would be exciting enough. But no they just couldn't resist "upping the ante".

Not everything has to be as big as saving a galaxy for there to be some tension. Saving your species whether it's human, asari, turian, salarian, or whatever is plenty tense enough. Just ask the Quarians.

I was hoping for this cool space cowboy, manifest destiny sort of thing, just focusing on having a stable place for your species to settle, and develop.

I don't know maybe it will be OK, maybe the plot won't be garbage, maybe I'm just salty that I can't play a Asari space cowgirl. I just needed to say something.

Also I'm expecting there to be comparisons between Native Americans, and Andromedan aliens.

Also Cerberus, because of course Cerberus will show up.

How do you know all this? Seeing as the trailer showed not a lot.

Sounds like they are referring to the leaked survey.

Yeah it does, still think we should be able to play as at least the four council species though.

People and their early opinions. You know them. Lol. It's why I'm meh with MACHINAMAs opinion too. Their like ooh ah or huh about a few things like this guy too yet IT"S THE BLOODY TRAILER YOU DUMBTARDS! I mean seriously geez, watch more videos when it gets closer to the games actual release.  Besides I got apparently more information elsewhere which covered multi player, allies joining, a tad bit about 'Pathfinder' (protaganist) even though it sounds indefenite.

Very true. I was just answering where I think they were getting this.

I would love if they added race selection into the game like they did with DAI.

I am referring to the leaked rumors. And I'm hoping like hell it's not true.

Mass Effect : Borderlands is what it sounds like you wanted.

If the loot system in this game is anything like DA:I we'll probably be getting that anyway.

Also I specifically said that I DIDN'T want to search for mcguffins.

I suppose the leaked survey about DA:I was correct. No reason not to assume the same for this

Thank you. I'd say making some assumptions here is pretty damn reasonable considering what happened in the past.

Not that I will agree that the game is necessarily a missed opportunity well before playing it, I will agree that there are multiple ways to create a Mass Effect game that occurs in the MWG.  The easiest of course being set in the time around ME1 and ME2, especially in the years when Shepard is presumed dead.

Until more information is released from Bioware, I won't worry about it.

Until Bioware shows that they can make one game where multiple species playthroughs actually feel different then who the hell cares about species. Yay, same game different skin in the same ole protagonist! Depth not breadth is what we want, or should, TES has a lot of choices none of which means diddly. TW tells a much more focused and deeper story because it limits the options.

"feel different" you know people like to say this a lot when the subject of different playable species comes up, but they never describe what they mean. I thought DA:O handled it nicely. Should the game constantly remind you of the fact that you're not human in almost every conversation?

It's like playing a woman in a game. Does the game really need to remind you at every turn that you're a woman for the option to be "worth playing"?

I don't really care what they do. If they make it good, that's good. I'm not concerned about details that I have no context for.

TES is a rather poor example.  You always play as a human in Fallout, but the main story is rather 'meh' when compared to other games.  Bethesda as a whole isn't very good at story-telling.  They just toss you into the world and say 'go nuts'.

On topic:  Nothing has been confirmed yet, OP, so I'm not really worried.  Besides, if it's executed well, then it shouldn't really matter what BW did with ME:A.  We'll get more info on N7 Day.  Just be patient.

What would be a different example? Because backgrounds - and races - in Bioware games are often intentionally written around: Spectres in ME, Grey Wardens in DA:O, the Inquisition in DA:I, etc. Even if we get past the fact that "non-humans" in ME are just rubber forehead aliens with a copy-and-paste human culture, except without any cultural diversity, the actual plot isn't reactive to them at all.

By the time they feature more depth, the game's going to have been feature-locked for a while.

Now is the time customers should be saying "that's great/awful".

But we can't really say "thats great/awful" for features we know nothing about.

We can suggest things, but that is what this forum is all about.

I'd suggest either Destiny or SWTOR, but since they're both online games, they might not exactly be the best examples.  Still better than TES, though.

But yeah, BW tends not to go in depth with the backgrounds of the non-human protags, but they also do the same with human protags (more-so in games with multiple playable races).  imo, DA:O did it the best out of recent BW games, giving you a different origin story based on the kind of character you wanted to play.  Doubt BW will go back to that style any time soon, but it would be nice if they did (at least, when it comes to DA).

Who cares, seriously? Either it will be a fun game and I'll play it few times, or it will be boring game and.... who am I kidding, BW has no idea how to make a boring game.

I'd suggest either Destiny or SWTOR, but since they're both online games, they might not exactly be the best examples.  Still better than TES, though.

SWTOR is a great example, it's literally two games in one (Empire/Republic) and even different classes in same faction feel quite different.
