The leak was confirmed? Great, now I'm even more excited!
So far this game seems to be one big wasted opportunity.

wait, are we actually saving the galaxy again? I thought we were going blindly into a new one.
After taking a break and playing non-Bioware rpg's I really don't care about having multiple races as long as having a human one is done well.

Really?
I'm impressed Bioware let a fan get a hold of a playable copy this early in development. I didn't even know ME:A was that far along!
NOTE: please be mindful of the large puddle of sarcasm currently pooling under my chair.

"feel different" you know people like to say this a lot when the subject of different playable species comes up, but they never describe what they mean. I thought DA:O handled it nicely. Should the game constantly remind you of the fact that you're not human in almost every conversation?
It's like playing a woman in a game. Does the game really need to remind you at every turn that you're a woman for the option to be "worth playing"?
DAo handled it well....well then you have really, really low expectations. DAO was trash after the origins other than a few toss aways. Never mind how poorly it handled class selection as well.
It doesn't have to constantly remind you but there is no way the way a Turian or Human plays out should be similar. Obviously the Shep story can't be done by another race because it makes no sense. Sure you could have any SPECTRE basically saving the galaxy but then that is the DAO generic hero approach where everyone plays out the same game.
Frankly defined or not if they aren't different then why do you care. Every second TES wasted on those races is, well, wasted because it means nothing. BG's race selection was every bit as pointless.

First off we're stuck playing as just a human again? I mean really? This isn't the Milky Way where humanity was the new kid on the block, and is trying to fit in. This is literally a new frontier for all the milky way species. The whole galaxy is basically Terra Incognita for all the Milky Way species but we're stuck in one perspective again.
It could have been something like the Milky Way species, specifically the council species working together in new territory to find a place for all of them.
Secondly. "The Remnants"? Really? Just couldn't resist adding Protheans 2.0 huh? Now we're gonna have to deal with some bullcrap about running around the new Galaxy grabbing as much ancient tech as we can that for some reason hasn't already been scooped up by the native species. Though I think I can sort of appreciate it as being similar to the Gold Rush. But it's just gonna be another tedious "find the mcguffin that will fix all our problems" situation.
Why not just let the Milky Way species just settle and grow on their own merits without having to scrounge and rely on ANOTHER dead species technology.
Thirdly. We have to save the Galaxy again!? How CONVENIENT that the moment our human protagonist sets their foot in a new Galaxy that it needs to be saved right off the bat. Because heaven forbid that humanity can't go someplace without it miraculously needing be saved by their chosen special snowflake of the decade.
Why did we have to save the Galaxy again? I get that we need a "big bad" or whatever, but I would think that starting a foundation colony in a new Galaxy, working with(and competing with) other species from the Milky Way while trying to get along with(or subdue) native Alien species would be exciting enough. But no they just couldn't resist "upping the ante".
Not everything has to be as big as saving a galaxy for there to be some tension. Saving your species whether it's human, asari, turian, salarian, or whatever is plenty tense enough. Just ask the Quarians.
I was hoping for this cool space cowboy, manifest destiny sort of thing, just focusing on having a stable place for your species to settle, and develop.
I don't know maybe it will be OK, maybe the plot won't be garbage, maybe I'm just salty that I can't play a Asari space cowgirl. I just needed to say something.
Also I'm expecting there to be comparisons between Native Americans, and Andromedan aliens.
Also Cerberus, because of course Cerberus will show up.

Until Bioware shows that they can make one game where multiple species playthroughs actually feel different then who the hell cares about species. Yay, same game different skin in the same ole protagonist! Depth not breadth is what we want, or should, TES has a lot of choices none of which means diddly. TW tells a much more focused and deeper story because it limits the options.
Many people like to do this thing called roleplaying when they play roleplaying games. Having things be predetermined for you and options limited tends to run contrary to that.

Exactly.
And to add to this, people that are saying that "IT SHOULDN'T BE HANDLED THE SAME" and the like are being kind of ridiculous. The average person is not going to go out of their way to treat a person of a different race/species differently if they can because that would require more effort on their part. In most situations, your race isn't going to be playing a factor. The more "generic" the person is, the better as it does allow the player to fill in more options for themselves. There's a reason that most RPGs don't have you with a family or a boyfriend or girlfriend or anything at the start of the game. Because having those establishes something that distinctly says "this character isn't yours."

Most of Bioware's games have been about saving the galaxy/world in one way or another.
The only one I remember not doing that was DA2 and that one didn't get received as well as their typical saving the world stories so I doubt that Bioware is going to go that way again.

I think it's very possible to make alien protagonist in the game without game having to suffer more from it than what it gains. In lot of situations Asari and Turian wouldn't act different than humans (I think these two would be most likely playable races), for example would Liara or Garrus acted so different from Shepard in Horizon quest in ME2? I think most of differences would come from different personality, not different species. Just change lines where they are appropriate, it should be even more easier in this new galaxy where everyone is in same line and there is not so much human specific things around.

I don't mind playing as a human again but ITA about hoping the game's focus is on colonising a region of space where we are newcomers and outsiders.
We don't need a another ancient race intent on destroying everyone and everything just one Andromeda race who hates us would be enough. Especially for the first game of a new trilogy that's basically a soft reboot for the series.

Yes we are going to play as a human only and (considering the Inquisitor tissue paper personality) I LOVE it.
I think the Inquisitor's back story is genius and the total lack of a character origin is so stupendous...(if you need it spelled out that was sarcasm)

Here's the thing, tell me and try not to lie, that The Witcher with many fewer "options" than TES games isn't a better role playing experience. Fewer options isn't a limiter on role playing as I said it is about depth not breadth and deeper games give you more ways to role play your character than having a homogenized game where all actions are the same. That is the difference between role playing and playing the TES games which are less about role playing and more about character management and progression.

That's stupid if someone sees something that they dislike about a product/potential product they have every right in the world to voice their issues with it.Dont judge unless you play it... :/
"Don't judge unless you play it!", "Once you've played the game then you can have an opinion!".
No. People can judge, will judge, and has the right to judge.
Tell me does that "don't judge unless you play it rule" apply to people who constantly sing praise after praise about a game, or does it only apply to people who have "not very nice" things to say?
Sorry but I'm not interested in encouraging a mindless hug box full of people who are incapable of/are afraid to voice opinions that could be considered "negative".

I'm sure someone said the same thing when the DA:I poll was leaked. You do know that "poll leak" could be fake or that someone's trolling the ME fanbase, right?
Also I'm pretty damn sure that if someone did fake the leak they would actually put in things that people would be excited about. The details leaked so far are so generic, bland, and expected at this point that there is little doubt in my mind that it's legit.
Wasted opportunity = I don't like in modern internet language
I'm pretty sure that it's "I don't like" in real life as well.

I can tell you, without lying, that I found TW2 to be a complete dud. So much so that I have not even watched footage from TW3. And one of the biggest reasons was the fact that I found it virtually impossible to RP as Geralt. I found that character to be completely uninteresting to me. I will take a blank-slate PC like those in TES over a stereotypical pre-determined character with some leeway in personality any day. But, that's my subjective opinion, just like your opinion is also subjective. But, I really don't want to see this turn into yet another TW3 vs. Bioware game thread. Just wanted to point out that your opinion isn't shared by everyone. And I say this as someone who's been playing RPGs for about 30 years.
