So I just found out at the the huge battle towards the end when you fight those swarms of dwarves right before you can set the last camp in Descent, if you knock a bad  guy over the edge into the water and he still has lots of health he doesn't die. But because he is over the edge under everything you can't get to him and can't get to you. The problem is, the game won't let you advance or go back or save unless you kill ALL the enemies in this section. And since there is no way to get to him you are stuck and have to reload. The only problem being this is the biggest and longest battle in the blasted DLC and you can't save any time during the battle so you have to do the whole damn battle again from the start BUT you don't find out the guy(s) are still alive until the end.  AARRRGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!

Come on Bioware I am your biggest cheerleader but this is really crap. REALLY.

EDIT: Added image. You can see him outlined in red

Gah, that sucks! I suppose you've tried all the angles to try to get a lock? The same thing happened to me in the other huge battle, the last darkspawn one. One of the 2 ogres fell through the floor and I was just sitting there fighting for ages until I noticed. I couldn't kill it, so I had to reload and do the entire section again  Silly buggy Descent.

This bug also happens when you're fighting, say, an emissary alpha and he teleports to a ledge below the ground. If you happen to be soloing as a warrior, you're screwed :'(

The mechanic is designed to work in tandem with the auto-teleporting feature of monsters, to prevent cheesy exploits such as knocking down all darkspawns from the bridge, they fall, survive and teleport right back up. Unfortunately (fortunately?), someone forgot to toggle the anticheese for Earthshakers and other Sha-Brytols, so this happens. It also happens to your teammates far too often, they fall, survive, stay downstairs, and you have to take control of them and jump further down into the void to teleport. If you're too far below, your entire party will get out of combat and teleport to the ledge with you when you switch to your teammate, making it an unescapable deathtrap.

For hitting out of sight enemies, the following attacks work pretty well, regardless of distance:

- Basic Attacks with any staff, one of the moves in the sequence will fire three homing missiles that ignore line of sight and distance.

- Chain Lightning, Winter's Grasp and Elemental Barrage also ignore line of sight and distance

- You could also go to the very edge of the rock as your 2h warrior, find the right angle, and provided you're close enough (I think you are), Earthshaking Strike might connect, too, as it mostly ignores elevation.

Anyway, the OP could take control of Dorian, tell the party to disengage, and spam autoattacks. The enemy will eventually die. Be thankful you have a mage!

Thanks. But I tried all your suggestions and to no avail. The person is too far below solid rock for any attack to reach him. I play a Mage and even tried some other things that work almost all the time.

No worries tho just loaded a save and didn't knock anyone else off XD. Lesson learned. It was just a drag as it was a nightmare run and that battle is a pain.
