I am trying to figure this out.

I bought all of the ship upgrades, and I have all of the characters at maximum loyalty.  Something seems to be wrong, though, because I had a character die (Tali) when I sent her as a team leader on the second part of the last mission.  I redid the mission because of it, infact.

I would prefer if you used discretion and didn't spoil me with details, I just want to know what sections I need to watch out for.  Things like "Don't use Legion in the Ventilation in the first part" would be useful, or "Don't forget to do [something] before you start the mission" (I saved before it started because I expected this might happen) would be better than "Use Tali to lead the team during the Hanar surprise attack when it's revealed that the HANAR ARE THE PROTHEANS RAWR".  (And no, don't worry, the Hanar are not the Protheans.  I think.  This is just an example)

I want to keep my entire crew alive, but if that's not possible at what points will I lose members so I know when to use members I don't mind losing (as much)?

So yeah, any help would be appreciated.  I want to keep my team alive.

Just choose the people who best represent the skills you need. Tali can lead, but do you remember what happened last time she did?

Not really, the choices are pretty clear if you know the characters. You said you didn't want spoilers. However, basically it doesn't really matter you is actually on your squad, just the ones that lead and specialists.

I thought Legion was the clear choice to hack the doors at the end, but apparently I failed at that. I lost Mordin and Legion even after getting every possible upgrade, and every possible dialogue, and all personal quests. I'm pretty sure Mordin's death was because I put Miranda in charge of team 2 at the end. Damn.

I'm pretty sure I've read that you have to use Miranda and Garrus as team leaders, with Tali on tech and Samara or Jack on biotics. That's what I've seen posted. And Mordin at escorting the people back or something.

Make sure you spend all your skill points on everyone if you have a neglected character.

I used:

Garrus as first leader, then later Miranda and Garrus, with Legion on Tech and Jack as my biotic. Everyone got out alive, though I didn't manage to save the colonists. Also, I sent Jacob with the surviving crew members.

I made it through with everyone but tali living. I used Zaeed as first leader, Garrus as second, Tali as tech, Jack as my shield and Zaeed as escort

It was pretty obvious who to pick, but there are some grey areas left that I can imagine one getting a bit lost in. Well here are my choices. Didnt loose anyone in the mission.

The screen where you pick the person for the job gives a nice description that helps. Garrus and Miranda have pretty clear descriptions how they have experience in tactics. Garrus description even mentions he has experience leading elite teams, guerilla warfare and sabotage. So Garrus was picked for the job.

Biotic powerhouses needed for the shielding job, Samara or Jack, I hated Jack and send her back on the escort job. Samara would of been my pick anyway, hundreds of years of experience, the willpower of a justicar. Still, I wonder how Jack would of done.She can come along and try it next time Picked Samara.

The tech job screams Tali, it even says she is better put to use using her tech/engineering skills and jobs that rely on intelligence. Mordin (STG) and Jacob (Joker remark says it all) also have tonloads of experience in the field.
Better have them shooting the place up. So Tali was picked for the job.

How would you save all the crew members from the pods then? I only saved half of them apparently.

I believe I've figured out how to save all party members.



Have them all at maximum loyalty, and have all ship upgrades.



The following characters have worked for me so far:



Ventilation: Tali

First Leader: Miranda

Biotic: Samara

Second Leader: Garrus

Escort: Jacob, Zaeed (both work)



I also found out that you can lose crew members if you take other missions between the certain event I won't spoil and going to the Omega Relay. So don't waste any time at all.

I had all my team on 'Loyal' and used the obvious choices for specialist and team leads ... but I still lost Tali on the last mission, when she was on rear guard (you don't select team leader for that) ... Did I do something wrong?

Being a moron (she is the second easiest to keep alive), bumping a dead thread, and not providing enough information for me to help you.

Wow! People are still asking this?

Make all squad members loyal to you by completing their personal quests and get all weapon, shield, tech etc. upgrades for the squad before going to the final mission. At the final mission:

Tech specialist: Legion
2nd team leader (everytime): Garrus
Biotic shield: Samara
Escort for the rescued crew: Mordin (he is the weakest warrior, better send him back to the ship)

If you still manage to kill a member of your squad after doing these, then something must be wrong with you.
