That's my assumption...
Take it Slow
Fair-Weather Friends
Even Ground
Rest Easy
Rub Some Dirt on It
Travel Light
They look to be difficulty modifiers or something to that extent... Achievements associated with them are named with "Trial of..." So that would make sense if they were difficulty mods.

*snaps fingers like Rodney McKay* ooh ooh this is their solution for the silly level cap thing in the game and so you don't reach it basically in the middle of the game without even trying.
Meh. May not use it tbh. I mean sure reacing said cap is annoying but if you get abilities slower that could be annoying too.

I wonder if you have to turn them all on at the same time/from the start of the game or say, for the ones related to beating a dragon you can just turn it on before the fight and then off again to get the achievement.

I wonder if some of these "modes" may be efforts to make those boss fights and/or events scale within the main game to something akin to the enemy battles in The Descent?

You think they could have a new separate difficulty mode on main menu for sp? you know like Dragons Dogma had for err think it was speedrun?

That's an interesting possibility. Makes the people who dislike Haven and want to get to Skyhold ASAP more...apt to do that.

So what...Nightmare X2? ![]()

Isnt there a "heartbreaker" above nightmare in MP?

Don't do MP.

Yep, enemies are smarter, stronger, and have more abilities.

Easy mode?

Eh, considering how bloody long the main campaign is. Starting another one just to do some of these sounds like a pain.

11 new achievements for 240G.
Spoiler
None are spoilerific. Some of them don't really make much sense to me. Do we have to replay the game from the beginning again to unlock some of these? I hope not.
Well this must be the "new gameplay mode" the survey talked about. These look like modifiers similar to Halo's skulls. Huh.
Edit: ![]()
But what I'm really wondering about is the Trespasser achievement, "Forever Marked". Ominous. I would assume it's for finishing it.

It's worth 90G, so it's most likely for finishing it (as was the case in previous DLC).

The way these are written to me suggests we will be getting some sort of difficulty modifier for the game, a la skulls from Halo.

Does this mean we have to start a new game?

This is what's confusing everyone right now. I guess we'll find out next week.

Should be noted that the Survey mentioned a while back that we were also suppose to get a new gameplay mode. Half of these achievements could be for that.
This was my thought as well. The survey mention a new optional gameplay mode that would be challenging for veterans. The 8 "Trial" achievements sound like rewards for that mode while the other 3 achievements are rewards for completing the Trespasser story. It would also explain The Golden Nug, making all collected schematics available to all your Inquisitors, especially new characters created to speedrun this new mode.

Looks like technically you'd only have to get to Halamshiral to get all of them out of the way. You could turn the always-on ones off as soon as you completed the relevant trial. So you'd slow-level through In Hushed Whispers and In Your Heart Shall Burn, then switch off that modifier to power-level in the Hissing Wastes or Emprise du Lion (using non-combat quests + lots of stealth to avoid death) to quickly get to 16.
That said, I imagine it being pretty darn difficult to stack all the modifiers onto one game, and some of them might not be allowed next to each other. Unless Even Ground only scales enemies upward, I can't see it being allowed alongside Take it Slow.
I'm also very interested in what Fair-weather Friends modifies, because all the ideas I can think of sound like they should be worth way more than 15 AP. Permadeath for companions? Disapproval causes people to leave quicker?

I'll predict that Fair Weather Friends means easier disapproval, whether through more disapproval points, or more likely though a changed level for when they start to disapprove of you.
I like the sound of most of this TBH. While I'd not like modifiers normally, the Golden Nug turns this into an interesting form of NG+. I get my T3-T4 gear but still get challenged in more interesting ways than just a Harder Than Nightmare Mode in itself. Though I don't know what some of these mean, like Rub Some Dirt On It.
I don't think they'll be a mid-game toggle. Looks more like for new playthroughs, now that SP DLC is 'complete'.
All just guesses, I know.

Some of them refer to the mode always being on for some location, so presumably some can be turned on and off midgame.I don't think they'll be a mid-game toggle. Looks more like for new playthroughs, now that SP DLC is 'complete'.

You get this through "progressing the story" so this is definitely a hint. Pretty obvious in my mind, it seems to suggest that:

"Trial of the Lovers" requires the fair-weather friends trial to be "always on." I've already created all of my Inkys that I plan to run through the game. The earliest save for any of them is right after the first demon fight where Cassie tells you to drop your weapon, which is an approval situation. Am I going to have to delete and restart completely from the CC one of my Inkys for this to kick in now?
Also, the "getting to the Winter Palace with all companions" part... is that referring to Wicked Eyes or is it referring to Trespasser?

So they are challenge modifiers...ugh. Interesting though.
