I'm going to hazard a guess at him being of comparable power, if not more so, to Flemeth. If the Dalish tales are to have even a grain of truth, not fully just a speck, then he's bloody powerful when he's at full strength.

I would say he's probably a tad more powerful than a high dragon, but less powerful than an archdemon.
And that's after Corypheus and his shenanigans with Flemeth.
Before the final confrontation with Corypheus? He's just as powerful as any other mage. This is somewhat confirmed if you've visited the future where Corypheus won and Solas can be a captive of his.

Not so powerful as one might believe, if the possible future seen in Redcliffe has any validity.
Although there is the chance that since Solas was captured when he was still relatively weak the conditions as well as the red lyrium exposure may have hindered his recovery so he remained weakened.

Solas also says in the epilogue cutscene thing (main game) that he was too weak after he woke up. Redcliffe future quest thing can't really be taken as fact since it's not likely to show him as who he really is, however that said, it's possible he never got his strength/power back during that time-line also. That time-line was/is very different to the one the DAI game actually followed also.

I was under impression he needed his foci to unlock his previous power, but as he was too week to even unlock it he gave it to Corypheus and when the foci was broken he got power from Mythal/Flemeth. In the bad future he most likely couldn't use any of those option.

Question is where he is post ending. I'd probably put him above dragons, but below the prime of his power...which isn't a useful measure due to the lack of company powerful entities.

Powerful enough that I'll be disappointed in Bioware if they consider it 'too gamey' to have a boss fight with him at the end of the DLC.
I'm prepared to be disappointed.

I'm torn on that... In a way, it would be cool to see that you were betrayed by Solas and his intentions were completely nefarious and you have a massive/difficult battle with him... On the other hand, it would also be kind of cool to see him being torn between what his original goal was with retrieving the orb and the bond between him and the inquisition that was built by their shared experiences throughout the core game.
I assume that they'll try to go out with something major since this is supposed to be the final story DLC for the game. They likely don't want to leave us on a sour note between now and the next DA game, if one gets made...

I think the devs have all but confirmed that Solas would be a feature of future games/lore as his story is too large an arc to cover in a DLC. This leads me to believe that he will not be a boss battle. Though hopefully for those Quizzy's that disliked him, they'll have a chance to vent their rage verbally and with threats. You do have the chance to punch him previously afterall.
As to his power? Well, who really knows. I assume that as his previous form of Fen'harel, he was considered powerful, or perhaps just very wise. Not all people are venerated for their physical strength. It could be possible that much of his knowledge on the Fade had helped/inspired the Elvhen people during his time, and that was why he was given a god-like status afterwards.
Now though, it would seem he had Mythal's power to supplement his own, and we know that she packs a fair punch. I wonder what he was doing in the intervening 2 years since his disappearance. Accruing more power perhaps? Gather together those left after the end of Mythal's Temple? I get the feeling that whatever he his power was during Inquisition, he'll be far more powerful now. Will be interesting to see what he plans to do with it.

I definitely believe that he'll be in future games of course. I wouldn't expect him to be a boss battle at the end. More of a long lore focused conversation but maybe not divulging his true intentions. Then him walking into the Eluvian and closing so that my Inquisitor can't follow him.
And not meaning physical strength as I don't count magic as physical strength lol. But I would believe him to be a very exceptional mage.
As for him having Flemeths power I just don't believe she's gone I can't I won't believe. She's been such a huge factor in things so far for her to just be "absorbed" I just can't believe that she'd be gone like this. Nope nuh uh won't believe it.

Power takes many different forms. In terms of fighting ability, what we see in the game is what we get. But he does know some secret spells too that deal with activating eluvians or using elvhen relics. Solas' main form of power is knowledge and cunning. He is well informed, crafty, and deceptive. He hides and learns. He stalks. Then he strikes with ferocity and precision. If he can't win in the first hit, then he will switch to playing defense and learning the opponent's moves. Survive the first thirty heart beats, as he tells Blackwall when asked how to fight demons. But this is for demons, which rarely change up their strategies. So he might treat a person differently. I would just say be on the lookout for things that seem out of place or too good to be true. Try to think of the forces at work that you can't see. Try to follow where it all leads. Solas is always trying to think at least five steps ahead of his opponents. You need to think ten steps ahead.
Also, I made my mage a rift mage because even back then I suspected that Solas might not be what he seems. So this way I have the ability to counter his rift magic with my mage's own.

We know that he's weakened due to being recently awoken and based on that he's probably weaker than Corypheus or else he would have taken the Orb via more direct means than playing as the Inquisitor's sidekick.
It's been 2 years + he's got Flemythal's "soul" thus her accumulated knowledge. At most I'd say he's just as strong as Corypheus, but with better control/ knowledge of various magic.
Still, Fen'harel was never said to be very powerful, just very deceptive and manipulative based on Elvhen legends.
In either case, I believe that Solas specializes in rift/veil magic as can be seen with all those Orbs we have to activate to "strengthen" the veil, the password to the eluvian refers to him, in DA: Redemption a fen'harel artifact was able to tear the veil.

If you need him to do something useful, he's not very powerful. Maybe a little more knowledgeable than your average mage, but not all that.
If you need something screwed up in the most idiotic way possible, he's almost omnipotent.
So...depends on what the writers need him to do.

I suspect he is easily powerful enough that he doesn't need a staff to channel. (Which could explain why he doesn't have one in the trailer despite having one in every other cutscene we've seen yet.)

Maybe not right now but when he is back to his old self (back when the Elves were still immortal), he'll be the master of the world.
