Very good choice. Never thought of that one.
I always tend to name my PC's after Tolkiens characters. My first two characters (both male Human Noble warriors) were named Melkor and Túrin.
I think both those names are very fitting because Melkor means: He who arises in might; and Túrin was a tragic hero, kind of like my guy.

I always name the dog "Grin." He just...looks like he's always grinning, to me, while he stands there and pants, when you speak to him.
