It feels a bit nerfed. The damage you do to the target doesn't feel as strong as it used to be, after the buff/debuff has been on for a while, but its still decent. The guard generation however definitely looks like it took a bigger hit. Prior to the patch it only took a hit or three to fill up on Guard but now, from half, it definitely took a whole lot more.

It would be nice if this was mentioned in the patch notes or documented somewhere at all but... should I really be expecting that much from BW by now?

Did elemental mines get a damage buff in this or previous patch? On my hunter it says 225% damage, buffed up from 100%.

I came here to check this because I just played Alchemist and I was wrecking things with the mines. It was fun. :D

I hardly ever play as her because she feels a bit weak to me, so I hope this isn't a bug.

Maybe it's just me being unobservant, but I don't notice any horn of valor procs with hakkon's valor anymore. Something going on?

- Spirit Blade functionality has changed! It now builds up damage as you deal damage with other sources and expends them when you use it. This makes the ability really strong if used rarely and really weak if you just spam it.

WHY?! Why did you remove deflecting incoming projectiles?

I really don't see the point of making another one build-up-damage-and-hit ability instead of THE ONLY ONE deflecting! If anybody want big damage there are dozens of abilities. Pick any and enjoy. Defending Blade was the big deal and huge argument for playing arcane warrior.

You're kidding right?

The "new" Spirit Blade is awesome. The deflecting option was useless on top of killing your allies... I say we got a major buff, exactly what we needed.

Was able to solo Nightmare FC on my lvl 16 AW (40/75/75ish) with the belt on vs Venatori......almost.  Cleared everything but the dragon, opened the last door, got hit by the iceball from the dragon and died.  It was then that I realized that I forgot to get guardian spirit while leveling up.  /facepalm

I disagree, but my opinion is far from a popular one on the subject.

Because the nerf/boost cycle of Spirit Blade was very frequent, a lot of people just switched to a Chain Lightning, POTA and Stone Fist build for the Sleep combos. People found it effective and stop trying to make the Arcane Warrior work.

I was already playing the Sleep combo early December before it got "popular" and the "right" way to play an AW. Eventually, I got fed up with it and tried a couple combinations to synergize my abilities while killing faster than the Sleep combo build. I now roll Fade Step, Fade Cloak, POTA and Spirit Blade. It's really basic, POTA to get everything in a tight spot, Fade Step to close in and build my Barrier, Fade Cloak to knock them down and finish things with Spirit Blade.

That build was better than most characters on NM before the buff. It's now amazing even on Heart Breaker. The only characters killing groups faster than me are Reaver (Dragon Rage) and Sisters (Deathblow). With the right equipment, I was doing around 1K damage per hit with Spirit Blade before the buff. Now, I'm doing around 5 to 10K. Things dies pretty fast, crazy fast I might add.

So no, I don't think it's time to retire the Arcane Warrior. It's actually better than ever.

Edit: I do have the best equipment and my fair share of promotions, you won't do as much damage as I do without those, but you'll get the same big boost I got from the buff on this patch.

Your post actually makes me very hopeful for him. In the beginning, he was too boring (SB, SB, zZzzzzZzz). Then, after the big nerf hit, I started playing him with that combination of skills you described to me. He was def not a favourite, got only about 30 games on him I think?

The way you're playing him now actually sounds fun. Gonna try it.

So I just realized the "Bleed Damage" buff for Spike Trap isn't actually a buff, but an upgrade that replaces the old upgrade.

My favourite build doesn't work without it no longer breaking Stealth.

I redact my previous overjoyed reaction and replace it with utter sadness.

It still does. That's what you get for being a gullible sheep!

With a seraabas in the party, specced the right way, you have unlimited barrier... We ran last night with 4 sarrabas and someone in the party was using the new fire belt... Needless to say, NM dragon went down on second landing.

off topic but... my god is she good. 65% damage reduction before any armor is applied???

- Unbowed has been replaced with Livid. Livid increases incoming and outgoing damage for each enemy in the area. The upgrade to this is the original functionality of Unbowed (gains guard)

Would've been helpful if the tooltip explains that Livid breaks status, so I didn't have to go into agony mourning the loss of Unbowed and thinking the Templar was ruined and forced to use Payback Strike.

Spinning Blades now additionally removes debuffs from your target and puts them on all targets in the area instead.

Wow, that's pretty OP.

Does it do that once (and a sec) like Unbowed or longer than Unbowed?

Has there been a "buff" to Cotton drops? I'm not swimming in it or anything but I've actually gotten a... handful varying between Imperial Vestment to regular Cotton since the patch, an improvement from 0 over the past few months.

Probably nothing but who really knows? It's all welcome, nonetheless.

And Mark of Death's upgrade now grants 4 extra seconds, but you can't detonate it, which means it only deals 50% of stored damage

That is one of the weirdest backhanded nerfs that they could give a character. The extra 4 seconds isn't going to be enough time for 50% to be better than the 100% for early detonation.

In other words, the folks behind these balance changes (both SP and MP) have no clue what they're doing. It's pretty clear that they botched things, being that they altered abilities/upgrades in such a way as to make them unworthy of the skill point expendature.

Don't you think the speed of dragon killing was a bit unbalanced relative to the other classes?

Sometimes it´s hard to understand why things get changed or replaced.

But in other games (not all i know ^^) You get patch notes with at least a small explanation for the changes. like: "changed x to balance y and improve  z."

Often I (and many other players) can´t get it why they do things espacially if it looks like making things worse than before.

Which doesn´t mean i don´t see positive changes :)
