Am I the only one who doesn't see the ending as horribly depressing? I mean it provides a really good excuse for the Inqusitor to retire. For those of us who didn't romance Solas, they can run off and get married and do whatever without worrying about DA4. They have the freedom to live. And, perhaps curiously, it is upped my interest In doing the Solas romance. Because I can't imagine how intense him taking off your hand will be as lovers.
Okay, hi all, I'm late to this parade BUT I just have to get this out before I literally burst! No, you are NOT the only one who finds it depressing. Ohhmegad I can't. I bounce between feeling absolutely gutted that not only do we not get closure from Solas, but he freaking takes our hand and leaves us AGAIN after having been gone for 2 years with no excuses/reasons given AND we're locked into the romance. Then I think, maybe he's taking our hand to lead us into the eluvian (I tell the part of my brain that says 'but what about that outfit with the folded arm to stfu), and get all happy and giddy inside! Then I think it's all just comical. I mean, WHAT?! Seriously? SERIOUSLY?! Lol we finally see Solas and he hijacks our hand and runs away with it laughing like an evil villain, arching his eyebrows and all that stuff? By far the most brutal romance I've experienced in the DA universe. I've felt just about all emotions there are to feel and I only just gave in late last night to read the file names.
Also I'm glad there are others who couldn't help but read the spoilers! Twitter is full of despair because everyone is on edge, knowing something happened and it's bad but not knowing what it actually is. I can't do that. Not anymore. Especially when Patrick Weekes says things like after this DLC is out, he's taking time away from Twitter. Can't help but think that's because he will be bombarded with angry/hurt tweets, demanding to know why Solas did what he did.
Anyway 7 years later...

so sorry this is so long!
