Am I the only one who doesn't see the ending as horribly depressing? I mean it provides a really good excuse for the Inqusitor to retire. For those of us who didn't romance Solas, they can run off and get married and do whatever without worrying about DA4. They have the freedom to live. And, perhaps curiously, it is upped my interest In doing the Solas romance. Because I can't imagine how intense him taking off your hand will be as lovers.

I love the idea of them living with a sacrifice that saved lives and didn't result in mourning friends and loved ones. She is now scarred like the sky that reminds everyone of the dark times in 9:41 Dragon and that the Inquisition will always return when needed.

Sooo... the "wedding dress" has both arms.  :(  Ah well, there go my hopes for a happy choice and ending.  Unless, of course, it turns out to be a burial shroud.

Okay, that's it then. I'll have to give Solas a go.

As for the other romances, it's kind of narrowed my focus a bit. I'm now only interested in LIs I can imagine settling down with. There are exactly two.

Haha, that's too bad for our poor Inquisitors. xD Mine's not just powerhungry, it's more like...she always wanted to be a mage and be a leader. It's like a very unfullfilled need of hers. So becoming the Inquisitor is actually really cool for her. She wouldn't want to die, but she's one of the kind that rather goes out with a legacy and freakishly cool powers than to fade away (ahaha...) and become an old, hot-headed and one-handed grandma that spouts nonsense about a romance with the Dread Wolf.

...well, as long as Solas doesn't amputate the wrong arm because he forgot which hand has the Anchor after two years, I'm sure we can survive the sads, even if it's just barely. xD

I know this is really silly but the left hand amputation really creeps me out, because I am left handed. I know I am not the Inquisitor but just imagining the prospect of amputating your dominant hand.... :crying:

I'm with you on that. While it could be a funeral outfit due to blood loss or infection from getting your arm cut off, I'd rather look on the bright side at the possibility that it is a life saving medical procedure. If it meant the difference between living a longer life or succumbing to death due to a malignant growth I'd immediately choose the longer life option if it were me.

It is either a burial outfit...Should your Inquisitor die...Or it could be that your Inquisitor gets married early in the game to LIs such as Cullen or Josephine if they romanced them...I cannot imagine the Inquisitor marrying Iron Bull, for instance. The Qunari have no concept of marriages.

Solas might need to show some doctor credentials before he pulls out that hacksaw.

If it really is Solas doing it to regain his lost power, I'd imagine he will use magic or the scene will go black and then you will see her with one arm and back at the Winter Palace. No doubt he will heal her before he leaves.

Yes, that's what I figured, so I will finally play my Cullen romance game and stay away from the Big Bad Wolf for now.  :)

That is something to consider. And what about the fact that same-sex marriage doesn't actually exist in Thedas as far as I know. Although I guess the Inquisitor could hold their own private commitment ceremony just like real life people did.

I'm upset....like a lot.

I played an archer and I wanted him to go back to the Dalish , thing is...how would he defend himself without his bow , now.

I don't care about the mark , I can't even imagine why you'd need to chop off his arm.

I mean if Solas can't do anything better than that crazy surgeon at Skyhold , thanks for nothing , dude.

I'm hoping the arm chopped off is one possible outcome ...you attack Solas or you didn't get along with him so he doesn't help.

Anyway I'm not even romancing Solas , so at the very least even without an arm , I still have Dorian I guess.

But I just can't imagine the Solas romance , dude remove your tatoos , remove your arm (or doesn't help and you have to figure something out) ...and then what?

What if it's the other way around? You're buried in the nutcracker costume with one arm if the mark consumes it/Solas steals it, and if you had a good relationship with him he finds another way. You keep all your limbs, and you're happily married to your non-Solas LI at the end.

Though I kinda hope that's not the case, because if we Solasmancers have to be miserable, then EVERYBODY ELSE CAN BE MISERABLE WITH US.  :crying:

(Joking.)

It could also be that the bride dress is just labeled 'bride' because it was originally used as that for a quest. It might just be a stand in for a fancy dress date.

Isn't it possible that the arm has to come off for the Inquisitor to survive? That mark isn't exactly fun business. Do we know for sure that it's optional because people are talking like they know it is.

Removing the mark via removing the arm probably takes a lot more than just a scalpel. If Solas does take it, I imagine it involves a hell of a lot of ancient magic to detach the mark from your soul before removing the physical manifestation of it with your limb. Hence why Cory couldn't just chop off our hand to regain it himself.

This is a bit off-topic, but the significance of the "Coroner" achievement title just dawned on me.   I have zero theories about the Taken Shape (sounds like a gear set, yeah?) but with the heavy Mythal/ToM aesthetic in the eluvian areas, I wonder if we're finally going to run into heavy hints about her murder.

...ok, maybe one theory on the Taken Shape.  It gives me the same wiggly hunches as Kieran's comment to a Lavellan Inquisitor: "I just don't know why your people want to look like that".  Suggesting the most ancient elvhen may have had to arbitrarily decide on their physical form when the veil went up. Possible sentinel armor set for Lavellan?  Yes please.

I doubt the Inquisitor would live the rest of their life with an unstable and ancient power in their hand. The only reason it was calmed down during the main story was because Solas was there to heal it. 2 years without him and the Mark is probably trying to break free of whatever he had stopping it. The devs also said the Mark is changing/transforming and the Inquisitor thinks it's trying to kill her. This means we're getting a new power most likely.

Hmm in that case, aren't people being a little pessimistic? We know the mark starts acting up, so taking the hand off might be the only option we've got. Cutting it off normally probably wouldn't work or Cory would have done it. Solas might be the only one that can remove it.

That being said, if it is something we have a choice on, I can see you either allowing Solas to take it, or Solas takes it by force.

I'm just saying this because people are acting like Solas swoops in and rips your hand off for POWER but he might just be trying to save you too.

Yep. This is why I think Mythal says that Corypheus is a magister that is reaching beyond his means. Even if he had the Mark, it would have eventually consumed him since he does not appear to be familiar with its intricacies.

Solas on the other hand knows a lot more about the Mark and as such would know how to detach it without killing you, unlike Corypheus.

I think Bioware is doing this arm removal thing so that the story of the Inquisitor is effectively done and tied up. No loose ends.

Honestly? I feel like the game could use a little tragedy and sacrifice. Things feel a little too easy considering the stakes. Solas dumping you should not be the worst possible thing that happens without a game over screen.

Taken shape could maybe refer to the sinner who took on the form of the Divine.

People are reacting in a whole lot of ways! We honestly don't know, so a lot of it is just speculating.

My stance is- if you're panicking for any reason, it isn't worth doing yet. All we have is a graphic, not a text datamine or a blueprint for what's going on.

Woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow the feelz.

Potential for most intense cinematic Bioware has done to date.

I distinctly remember in the Twitter thread seeing tweets from lead cinematic designer John Epler that he made the most intense/emotional scene he'd ever done in his career... even to the point of, like, getting broken up about the scene... it was something along those lines. I'm... getting an idea of what that scene may be now, given the mesh discovery today.

So glad you started this topic, Mims. I'd been creeping back in this old spoiler group wondering if anyone still came here because I couldn't stop myself from looking at Reddit today. LOL My willpower to stay spoiler-free lasted literally 20 minutes. :P

What kills me is all the people getting even more ticked off at Solas like he's cackling and stealing your hand away or something. Dude. The trailer flat out says the mark is killing you... or turning on you... it's doing something bad to you. Maybe it's killing you or maybe it's become a danger to the world of actually OPENING rifts in the fade again. My first thought when someone mentioned the missing arm and Solas having something to do with it, I'm like, "Oh, he's saving us. Obviously." If a limb goes gangrenous, you amputate or you die.
