I do wish they'd let us have more 'non-canon' ending types. Endings that won't be continued in future games, but are fun for current ones.

Yes, kind of like what they did with a Warden who died at the end of Origins and you had to pick up with a new character.

I am not even utterly intrigued, I am just thoroughly confused and sad. :crying:

Still, congratulations Patrick Weekes: I have never felt so deeply for a fictional character before.

I'm really excited now. It seems like a fun time. And my Trev. can marry Cullen I think and that makes me happy being a long time Cullenite. And I'm even more excited about the hints that possibly, just maybe, hopefully, they will allow me to continue playing my Revas- and Dagna will make me a totally awesome new hand. And then, at least, maybe they'll make poor Lace a full-fledged companion in 4 and those inquisitors who wanted to romance her and flirt with her, will finally be able to.

I'm imagining all the possibilities. And you wouldn't HAVE to continue your Inquisitor- you could just play a new character, like they did in Awakening.

I'm just sitting here broken. I can't even muster enough feelings to sound interesting. I'm trying not to think about how sad solas' character is. Please someone help.

This is seriously tearing me apart, but for more personal reasons that i am now am starting to feel horrible for.

They've made it pretty clear that there will be a new protagonist every game. I guess Lavellan could maybe be involved in finding the protagonist of the next one, or their companions. But remember what Mike Laidlaw said about Solas's story being important to the story, too.

Lavellan can't possibly succeed. At best she could find him after he lost. If he lives. He seems pretty convinced he'll die in the process of what he's doing.

It's going to be okay. In time, pain heals. Just picture Lavellan all determined and pissed. I know it seems a long way off but I really don't think it will be- I expect actually that with the lack of old consoles now to cater to, and having already used Frostbite- we won't have to wait too long- and listen, it's going to be AMAZING. Think of all the awesome lore we got ahold of that we can now pick over for the next two years. I'm so excited!

Imagine the fun road trip adventures Dorian and the Inquisitor are about to have on their way to Tevinter.

I wouldn't say Lavellan can't possibly succeed, player character or not. It is a video game, and I don't think we're going to play a game where we can't prevent the apocalypse. It doesn't mean we'll be able to 'save' him in the sense that everything is right in the world- but I'd say the Inquisitor is probably going to have a hand in resolving the situation in one way or the other.

Shhhh. You're going to make everyone cry.

Anyway we know what they have said. They never said anything about not offering us a choice between who we wanted to play. :)

It goes deeper than that x-x basically i am Solas. Our personality traits are almost uncannily similar.

I've gone through life manipulating but with good intentions.

My I.Q. is above genius level, and sometimes I start to feel like I can just maneuver everyone like pawns.

I can't take this. His evilness (and everything in-between) is basically me, and it's breaking me to see it.

He is basically proving I'm a bad person.

(i've been hoping he has a happy ending not for lavellan but for him and myself)

I dunno...

The stinger seemed pretty explicit that the Inquisitor was not out of action yet. I think it's possible they'll at least play a role as backseat protagonist or something (like you said, finding new protagonist/companions) and the new player could be the leader of a faction or just an agent or something. I will be severely upset if we are railroading into killing him or watching him die. I know some characters have a destiny and such, but it's just too sad... Even after knowing what he has done and finding out what he plans to do I want to save him...

Also...the choice at the end gave two options...

Spoiler

Just food for thought, since it was the last decisions and seems pretty significant.

Also. Teagan is a ******. If I ever play Origins again I wont even bother to flirt with him.

;; This is not true! For one, you're not a mage who has lived thousands of years and may potentially be haunted with the ghost of Morrigan's not-mother.

Real life doesn't play out like a story- that's why we play games. Stories follow logic and character arcs. Someone starts at point A, and we can kind of guess were they are headed based on both what we know about said character, and similar characters we have read about in the past.

Look at us already predicting where the story might go! We can do that, because stories follow patterns.

Real life doesn't follow that pattern. Someone can foreshadow all they want about being evil, or being someone scary- that doesn't make it true. Just the same way as someone nice suddenly turns out to be completely mean. If it was a story we'd say- 'the author failed to make that apparent.' But in real life we only react in shock. That's just life.

You are very different from a fictional character!

Solas isn't going to be talked out of what he's doing. He's not going to be 'saved' in that sense. He'll be stopped or he'll succeed and screw things up but Lavellan isn't going to 'save' him until after that happens. If he even survives it.

Listen hun, the fact you feel bad and the fact that you don't want to be that person proves that you're not a bad person, you feel empathy. Solas is not a psychopath because he feels empathy and remorse, and I'll fight anyone who says different.

And there's the fact that he's watching her in her dreams and she continues trying to change his heart. He can't let her go and that's a very good sign to me. I'd be so much more worried if she didn't see him or feel his presence. There's a glimmer of a chance so long as he still has a heart to love her with, and he very clearly does.

Even if we have to knock him over the head with something first.

A sad weapon....shaped like an egg.

Thanks you guys. It really does mean a lot that I can open up about this and get positive comments :)

It's not really something I've ever told anyone before

I appreciate it more than you know  <3

Given the backlash of the Blackwall romance and how that sex scene went, I'm not surprised they held Solas back. His 'betrayal' was much worse than Blackwall's. I suspected as much and this makes me very happy that they treated his character with such thought given how sad the romance is even without it.

That's just me though.

Well, I agree that he'll have to be stopped. I just think that there could be a way to do that and not have to outright kill him. Like a battle that he can survive, and then realize Inky is right or something.

I just think the world will either change or it won't, and I'm leaning towards the latter since I doubt they'll let the current world die.
