He clearly does show emotion, though! If Solas has one thing left, it is a heart to love Lavellan with. Let's make this a list, because I need to remind myself of this stuff, too. Under a spoiler just in case:

They've made it pretty clear that there will be a new protagonist every game. I guess Lavellan could maybe be involved in finding the protagonist of the next one, or their companions. But remember what Mike Laidlaw said about Solas's story being important to the story, too.
Lavellan can't possibly succeed. At best she could find him after he lost. If he lives. He seems pretty convinced he'll die in the process of what he's doing.
If Lavellan is just an NPC and we defeat Solas, I can see her leaving with him to eternal peace at the end based on your choices in DAI and DA4.
Well I'm okay with that because I wasn't convinced that they did to begin with, so whatever. lol. I'll wait and see how I feel after I've played it. Hour and a half!!!
So it'll be Tevinter against Elves....again? Sort of? Plus Qunari? He's probably gonna be busy freeing all of their elven slaves.
Is it wrong that I wanna weaken the Inquisition to make it easier for him? *sigh* I wonder if it'll be the Elven Age or something.

I'm going to disband. I want our group working without any chance of betrayal from the Inquisition and try and save him before he does something dumb. I'm keeping the faith he can be redeemed.
oh my god i cried like a baby, i prepared my self for an arrogant Solas, but this sad Solas was just too much for my poor heart, and im disappointed , i expected a longer conversation , i was ready for the outcome ( or this is what i keep telling myself) . and this kiss it just wasnt enough
Sorry.
Ahem.
Being cooped up in my chair at work is hard.

Yeah, it isn't really that big of a deal to me. I assumed they did- but if I'm told otherwise, it isn't a major calamity. I can respect that he chose not to.

I felt that way a couple of minutes ago, too, but after re-watching the entire scene plus the end sequence, I cannot see how Solas could have reacted any other way. He's been determined to walk this path alone since the beginning of Inquisition. He has to face a terrible decision: Stand for what you did wrong and try to redeem yourself through (self)sacrifice, or be with the woman that you love. I swear, if the entire situation had been different, he would have stayed. (The fact that Lavellan made him question his entire goal proves that. "She is real [...] it changes everything, but it can't.") But he can't, because everything that he believes in is at stake. It's basically his entire being, now. He woke up one year before the events of Inquisition. This world is alien to him, wrong and not what he remembers. It is basically the future that he never wanted. It's like the future that Inky and Dorian saw: It isn't real. And I swear, it pains him to see that Lavellan is real, but that just isn't enough if you're a thousand years old 'god' who woke up from his slumber and has the mortality of the whole elven race shouldered on his back.
I thought that this DLC was going to be the last time we would see our Inquisitor (as protagonist at least), but the last scene suggests the opposite...
Didn't Bioware confirm this? Or am I totally misinformed? xD

More reason to save him if we can.
I do wonder if a rival relationship with him is just as sad or is he angry and bitter? So many choices!

So, out of curiosity. Is Solas also mortal-lifespanned now? He survived through fade magic means, I imagine, but he's probably going to age normally now that he's awoken? Unless the plan works?

One of you said something about he watches her in his dreams- is this a statement from the game? Has he been?

In that dark future he was jailed and dying, so I wold assume he's mortal for the moment, but maybe with increased longevity after absorbing Mythal.

In the little thing about the characters at the end that explains their fates. Cole went off with Maryden, Dorian...did something, everyone did something, and sometimes Lavellan feels her lover watches her in her dreams.
And she wants to change his heart. So effing heartbreaking.

Yes. It is mentioned in the epilogue at the end, where you find out what every companion does now. Solas watches Lavellan in her sleep from afar, but doesn't dare to go closer and she doesn't seem to remember most of what happened in her dreams. I could type the whole little thing, if you want to! =)

Well, regardless of what Bioware "confirmed" they aren't exactly known for keeping their word. In any case I think it was meant to be about why we're not playing the Warden, which some people can't seem to get over. But I think this could have changed- if they think it's right for the story, then, well, they are within their right to change their mind.

Adding on to what the others have said, it's an ending slide.

Aww yeah, I was bummed out about that, too. But their budget was probably pretty tight. The Sera marriage scene is pretty much done in three minutes, too. xD

I love the look on his face when she says she would have understood if he was honest with her. He's doing it all wrong.
I'm glad that, in the end, Lavellan at least understood the whole thing about her boyfriend being Fen'Harel.

Yes, this pleases me. I wanted her to be fairly chill about it because I certainly am. LOL
