Taken shape could maybe refer to the sinner who took on the form of the Divine.

ooooh.  Dragon armor set, almost as good.

Honestly? I feel like the game could use a little tragedy and sacrifice. Things feel a little too easy considering the stakes. Solas dumping you should not be the worst possible thing that happens without a game over screen.

It will be bittersweet, I think. If you romanced Cullen or Josie, you can have your happily ever afters with them, I think. The wedding dress hints at something.

So even if you lose your arm, you will still have someone by your side...Which is not a bad thing...

But if you romanced The Egg...Well, then...

So glad you started this topic, Mims. I'd been creeping back in this old spoiler group wondering if anyone still came here because I couldn't stop myself from looking at Reddit today. LOL My willpower to stay spoiler-free lasted literally 20 minutes. :P

Figured it only right we start right back where we started! Huddled in a spoiler thread, hunting down scraps of leaked info and making mass speculations.

I distinctly remember in the Twitter thread seeing tweets from lead cinematic designer John Epler that he made the most intense/emotional scene he'd ever done in his career... even to the point of, like, getting broken up about the scene... it was something along those lines. I'm... getting an idea of what that scene may be now, given the mesh discovery today.

What kills me is all the people getting even more ticked off at Solas like he's cackling and stealing your hand away or something. Dude. The trailer flat out says the mark is killing you... or turning on you... it's doing something bad to you. Maybe it's killing you or maybe it's become a danger to the world of actually OPENING rifts in the fade again. My first thought when someone mentioned the missing arm and Solas having something to do with it, I'm like, "Oh, he's saving us. Obviously." If a limb goes gangrenous, you amputate or you die.

That's what I think too. Solas is saving us. If you ended with high approval or romanced him, he genuinely respects/cares for you no matter your race. He won't hurt you like a murderous and hungry beast. In the panel the devs said they tried hard to show how much he truly cared.

People are so ready to assume the worst of Solas and that's just so funny to me. If anyone thinks he does anything with evil intention, they haven't been paying any attention whatsoever.

That's not to say that he doesn't possibly want that mark's power back. But if he likes you, saving you would probably be a big part of the equation also.

Also, way back when I thought that the Inquisitor's story would end with her somehow cutting her hand off. I thought it would be an ending delegated to headcanon or some note in DA4, though! I never thought we'd see it happen within the game.

Yep. This is why I think Mythal says that Corypheus is a magister that is reaching beyond his means. Even if he had the Mark, it would have eventually consumed him since he does not appear to be familiar with its intricacies.

Solas on the other hand knows a lot more about the Mark and as such would know how to detach it without killing you, unlike Corypheus.

I think Bioware is doing this arm removal thing so that the story of the Inquisitor is effectively done and tied up. No loose ends.

I agree. From the start, I went through the game wondering if I was eventually gonna have to lose my hand, so today's discovery and subsequent babbling really comes as no real surprise to me. It also effectively retires the Inquisitor, so no more whining on the levels of "where's my Warden?" over and over again. Quizzy may either be dead at worst or missing a limb at best.

Makes me sad for my Solas-mancing duel-wielding rogue, though. That's gonna be rough.

I have a question about those spoiler images. Are all meshes that dark or are those outfits meant to be black?

God, remember when this spoiler group first started? And we all found out that he's Fen'Harel the Dread Wolf and he kills Flemeth who, by the way, was also Mythal. And so many of us in here were like, "Wow, what a fake spoiler. There's NOOOOOOO WAAAAAAAY this can be true".

Oh, yes. I fully expect this situation to benefit him in the end as well. He IS, apparently, the Dread Wolf, after all. But he's saving your life... and also maybe getting his power back. Win/win to his view, yes?

Although, please, just suck the power out of the dead limb and dispose of it. The idea of him running around with Lavellan's amputated appendage is really high on the creepy scale.

It just seems really, really stupid that the only way to severe the ties is to cut off the Inquisitor's hand/arm.  I mean, couldn't they have come up with something a little more... I don't know... unique?  It's like they took a cue from The Evil Dead.  And Solas being the one to do it?  You'd think an Elven God would know of another way.

I blame all the people demanding the HOF back. This gives the Inquisitor no excuse to return.

That was a fun time indeed  I haven't been on here in so long, but came running when I heard that spoilers were leaking! Can't wait for more juicy details to come out..

I'm okay honestly with whatever happens, I think. As long as my Inquisitor gets her answers, then I'm happy.

Think of the Mark as a malignant tumor. Obviously you could use chemotherapy but that does not exist in Thedas so we have to make do with amputation or you die.

Yes! I also remember when people were first panicking about him being some sort of double agent for Corypheus, which then evolved into him being Fen'Harel. That was a crazy couple of days. And even then for a while, the thought was that he was a lot more godlike than he actually ended up being.

Oh, and the fear he was trying to dark ritual Lavellan.

Mostly (and granted I haven't romanced him) I want Lavellan to know who she romanced and to get some hint as to Solas' larger plan. There was a sense, even before Witch Hunt, that to be involved with Morrigan was to involve yourself with forces beyond you. Hints of a world you could only dream of. So it almost didn't matter that the romance was doomed. Still worth it.

It's such a simple solution, though.  I was hoping for something more dramatic.  I know some weren't fans of the Dark Ritual and I wasn't at first either, but it was different.  It was creative and not something you'd expect.  But this?  It's the first thing you'd think of and the last thing you'd really expect to happen.

I guess we'll see how it plays out...  Maybe it's a choice.

I do really like his armor, though.  All those pelts.  Dork.

I don't know, I think sucking the power out of your hand and that being that would be a little anticlimactic. I like that you lose something along with it. Considering how embedded that mark was and the point they made about that early in the game, I can't say this is unexpected. I'm not sure exactly what better or more unique way it could go with Fade power stuck in your hand.

Warriors could always pull off a Squalo if they can use their left hand. Though I don't think handedness would have too much to do with an attachment sword...

Also, I don't know that I'd say potentially losing your arm to your ex-boyfriend is utterly intriguing. Maybe the developers will surprise us and have Solas take a romanced Lavellan with him instead? She can help him out with the power of the Mark and he might be able to influence it to not kill her or something...That's probably all wishful thinking, though.

I'm thinking he might tell romanced Lavellans a little something something extra to hint at the future and what he feels about what he's doing/is going to do. But honestly, that's all I'm really expecting. I'm not all that hype about the Solasmancer portion of this DLC, though I'm excited for the DLC and Solas in general!

I remember how I was like "But look at the paintings! Look at the elven mythologies! This could be aweeesome!" Pretty much no one believed me, though. ...and then we got 'dem awesomeness' of Solas ditching our Inquisitors. :bandit:

As a male, inquisitor to Solas who was his friend.

"Remember when you left Thedas? Before all this, before Fen'Harel? You were gone two years. Two years I waited, hoping that you wouldn't come back. Each year, I took a holiday. I went to Antiva, there's this cafe, on the bay of Rialto. Every fine evening, I'd sit there and order a Fernet Branca. I had this fantasy, that I would look across the tables and I'd see you there, with a wife and maybe a couple of kids. You wouldn't say anything to me, nor me to you. But we'd both know that you'd made it, that you were happy. I never wanted you to come back to Thedas. I always knew there was nothing here for you, except pain and tragedy. And I wanted something more for you than that. I still do."

I don't know about you guys, but so far I'm not "utter intrigued."   I hope there's some sort of option to go with him...  but now I'm even less sure there will be.  They seem to have a set position in mind for Solas and, since they obviously will want to get rid of the Inquisitor so they can start a new character's story, they most likely won't want a Lavellan tagging along after him.

Thinking about the mark like a curse and eventually turning upon you has got this song stuck in my head now...
