Oooh! Where did you see this? And is the hand removal scene the same as the romanced Lavellan minus the kissing? Because I watched the romanced Lavellan version and it didn't really look like Solas removed her hand. (She still had her hand attached.)
I think he made it dissolve with magic.

YES! Our patience shall be rewarded!! I know there will be things that will make us waver but I feel strongly that there is a good chance our Lavellan will catch her wolf.
Plus let's be damn honest. Something needed to happen to shake up the way Elves are being currently treated in Thedas. It's been bothering me since DA:O. We had a hand at resolving the way mages live (for better or worse) and I feel like Solas needed to do this because the way Elves live in Thedas is just not right at all.
A revolution is coming. It's the time of Elves now! Elves are done being treated this way and while I do not agree with Solas' methods, I do believe something needs to happen. Tevinter we coming for you!

I don't want Solas to destroy this world, but I do want that Sandal prophecy to happen, all the magic to come back - everyone re-establishes their connection to the Fade that was lost when the veil was created - even the dwarves; elves regain their immortality and their more powerful abilities; spirits become less 'other' and more a part of the world; and everyone has access to a bit of magic, making for a more level playing field. This is what I want to happen anyway. Lavellan can help Solas achieve something, while still preventing total annihilation.
Way I see it in the next game. Solas succeeds in lifting the veil, but the Inq gets to him before he can put the more drastic, this-world-destroying plan into motion. A friendly/romanced Inq can talk him down (he wants to be stopped dammit!), a hostile Inq will fight and kill him. Cue him and Lavellan getting a sort of happy ending, and a set up for DA5 - which is the world against the Elven Pantheon/Forgotten Ones, who have all come hurtling out of the Fade now the veil is down ...
Yeah, well that's my headcanon and I'm sticking to it

Ohh, I looked for it and saw the scene. Very, very touching! Makes me even sadder than some of the Solavellan scenes. He's so torn about it all. 
I hope so, too. The devs wouldn't put such a huge choice has the end of their game and then never mention it again, right?
We have 2 more Archdemons to fight too and one was hinted at as being next in JOH.
Them too! A great big cataclysmic, armageddon for DA5, and all hands on deck to stop it But first, DA4, redemption for Solas and possibly smooches. YUP.

Is it just me or is the friendship scene more emotional than the romance? I was all awww for Lavellan but this one made me swallow a lump in my throat and wipe my eyes. Solas seems to be silently pleading with his human friend to stop him and save him from himself.

I think part of it was that the stream we were watching didn't choose all of the questions, like the one about Corypheus and the orb and such, so we missed some of the dialogue impact. I liked the fact that with a friend he actually spoke more of his regrets, though. Especially the part where he wanted to be proven wrong.
Just rewatched the twitch and then watched the friendship ending. Okay Im feeling better about the levellan ending (I only got one eye right now) as it does seem he really does love her. But wont his plans kill her anyway?
The friendship ending revealed way more too. Shows he takes the arm and he just flat out says he is the big bad and he is going to kill the world.
Im hoping in da4 our lavellan can appear to save him or at least die with him.
Just wish we could of gone with.

The join option would make sense for an elf, though...but I agree, a third option would have been better. I do think the outcome for join/redeem is the same, though, so the devs wanted to keep it easier for themselves. Two variables + Inquisition or no Inquisition is enough to put into a future game as is.

If you redeem him, you will try and convince him not to destroy this world. If you say you will stop him, it means you will likely kill him in the upcoming war against him. Lavellen wanted to join him, but he refused her. I will redeem him, but the join option just didn't sit right with me since my Lavellen isn't one to watch her friends die for a lover. I'm hoping by joining him, she was trying to stop him.

Oh good they were separate! That stream was hard to follow with the small words. As long as saying join didn't replace redeem I'm happy.
I am never going to do the wrong thing so I can save him. I will choose the redeem option and disband the Inquisition so we won't have a huge war and can do this quietly with new companions.
I'm with you. I want to change the way things are for Elves but I don't see my Lavellan accepting to go with him so they can destroy the world together. I'm all about finding other alternatives but I think it is about time Elves get a say on the matter!

Agreed! Elves wont get noticed in a good way or receive respect if they rebel and try and kill everyone. Solas needs to see that his plans will not only bring his end and the world, but also history might just repeat itself.

Also... I just had a WEIRD thought. What if the "Maker" was Solas trying to get Andraste to help with the veil with her mage powers? What if we are repeating that history again, but instead of approaching us in dreams, he joined us and led us to victory. Now we are going to Tevinter to fight him and his elven army.
