I feel he emboddies the "healer has the bloodiest hands" saying we got in the main game. Or at least, he believes himself to be. so caught up in his own mistake he sees no redeeming quality to the thousands years of history and just... people living their lives, that have happened since his rebellion ended up costing the elvhen everything.

Yea he seems to have a horrible case of narcissism. I mean bro, everybody was doing just fine without you. chill. and then that point where you find a self portrait of him, and he made himself look like a super powerful amazing messiah.

I feel like throwing the same quote that was thrown at us:

"You're not the solution to every problem" buddy. calm yoself. you're just an old guy who needs to look around and notice that things change.

Maybe there's a way to change it. Did anyone check all the choices?

so uh what's the consensus?

Solas evil or naw?

Or possibly going evil ... or crazy ... or both

He's just a silly billy who needs Lavellan to bake gigantic frilly cakes to lure him to persuade him to come close enough home so she can crack him on the egg keep him in the basement from never ever leaving again forever.

*Innocent eyes* I plot nothing, I swear! ^_^

Guys I'm kinda p*ssed at solas if you can't tell (mostly because I would be doing the same exact thing in his situation and I would hate myself for it) but I still love him, don't get me wrong. I'm just judging him as harshly as I would judge myself.

He's still my egg ... no matter how many plots of mass destruction he cooks up.

I didn't take that as being narcissistic. Just wracked with guilt and willing to go to any lenght to repair what he consider broken (and seeing what the elves lost... damn. Isn't it broken.)

I don't think he's evil at all. He has great morals (mostly) and puts other people's best interests at heart (only the elves apparently) and has the capacity to love.

Good people can do horrible things if the circumstances are right. I feel like he has such an amazing personality. It would be horrible to see it be wasted.

I think you are right to be skeptical but I think there is reason to look at things in a more positive way as well.

Just the way he expressed himself to Lavellan, I think if Lavellan plays things right, which we know she is determined to, there is a way to get Solas back and provide a better future for Elves.

I love that we have the option to not give up. Weekes wouldn't have given us a small glimmer of hope just to crush it.

He KNOWS how invested people are on this character. This party just got started. Solas is prideful and he's full of vengeance but unlike before he met the Inquisitor, he has friends and a heart that loves now.

I honestly feel that Lavellan/friend Inquisitor has changed him but he regrets that is too late to stop things. He's pretty much pulling an Anders. I just hope we can help stop this one.

I think the Inquisitor will not give up and it's about to set a counter attack against Solas' forces. I can't wait!!!!!

I love how Solas is just an elven nerd in one of the scenes.

"I walk the Din'Anshiral. There is only death on this journey."

It literally means: "I walk the death journey. There is only death on this journey."

I'd like it confirmed (to be ambiguous, haha) because *I* don't think it states they never had sex.  I took it to mean he never had sex with her while faking who he was, emotionally and spiritually.  It was really only a name and overall motive that he withheld - and the motive isn't even related to their romance, so...  (Also, I like that we found out that Solas is his real name.)

Oooh I like this!  It does seem like it could go either way with his meaning.

I reference you to my comment above yours.

I'm being really harsh on him, and i realize that. I just need to vent

Oh! Not Solas related, but I got a mention from Cullen about clan Lavellan being wiped out. Nothing major, but nice to see that finally acknowledged.

I got one from Varric where he said he had made an alliance with the clan as they now rule Wycome.

Well, just consider his wording.

"No. I never laid with you under false pretenses."  The way it's worded implies (to me) that laying was had.  It's just the emotion/deception behind it being in question, since Fen'Harel is the "trickster god".

I remember that moment where he was like "May the dread wolf take you?" and I was like "HELL YES" so I chose the sad "Ironically, yes" option but she was still like "no." ummmm... lavellan stop c*ckblocking me

So it's still up to us!

Just finished, cried like a baby :crying:

Can't really calm down even though I'm super tired

I KNEW he wouldn't let us come along, but still so sad...

When he was kissing her I was half expecting him to suddenly rip her hand off haha :pinched:

Is it normal that he takes it? At first I was like "Oh yay got to keep my hand" cause it didn't look like he did anything

But then at the end it was gone, I assume that's normal?

It could also mean that he did not lay with her, though. "May the Dread Wolf take you." "And so he did." "I did not. I would not lay with you under false pretenses." I think it is purposefully vague.

11 mages is what this codex says, but there are only ...what, 9 including Solas? So...oh nevermind maybe I should finish before the questions.

Eh, I think his pride is indeed making him continue down a road that he knows is a bad one.

On the other hand (and correct me if I'm wrong), pretty much every shitty thing in Thedas is indirectly his fault. Innocent spirits turning into demons? Solas's fault. Mages getting possessed? Also Solas's fault. Mages being persecuted because they get possessed by demons? Yep. Elves as a race being treated little better than slaves? Ditto.

I can see him waking up, seeing the state of the world, and the realization absolutely breaking him.

Not saying that he isn't being a moron (he is), but he's a sympathetic moron. What he really needs is a friend to give him a good slap and tell him that he doesn't have to do this, and that there's another way.

This is why I am so on board with Dragon Age 4: Save Solas from His Own Damn Self.

I'd be way sadder/angrier if this DLC ended on a hopeless, "Solas is a lost cause" note. But it doesn't. You can specifically make it your mission to save Solas. The game wouldn't let you do that if it was impossible.

Right.  I think the intent was ambiguous (like the entire romance is, with sex) but a lot of people are taking it to be definitive proof.  I prefer ambiguity since it allows for all sorts of headcanons.

On a similar topic: in Cassandra's romance arc she makes mention that she and the Inquisitor have been together for three years.  Subtracting the two years between the main game and Trespasser, that means that you start your romance with her with one year remaining in the pre-Corypheus death phase of the game.  I'm taking this to be a tentative timeframe for all of the romances.  Thoughts?  One year with Solas, and two years chasing him (thus far).

anyone have a translation for what Lavellan says to Solas in elvhen at the end? It's when you have to choose to try to "change" him in the future or not.

Sorry, mixed up the exact wording.  Still think it implies past laying.  He would not have sex with us if he was falsifying his feelings.  His feelings were real, thus the hardcore sex was totes legit, vhenan.   ;)

EDIT - also, when arguing with a boyfriend I don't think I'd be screaching "But we had SEX!".  I'd be screaching "But I loved you!" too, haha.

I could see how it could be taken either way.

On one hand he could have meant he didn't sleep with Lavellan at all considering who he really is.

On the other hand Solas came first. Fen'Harel is just a nickname. He would have slept with Lavellan as Solas and not Fen'Harel. Therefore he wouldn't have slept with her under false pretenses.
