Also, I think it fully dawned on me just how messed up Solavellan Hell could get in this DLC.

 

You meet Soals at the end, have lengthy conversation revealing stuff and if you are an Inquisitor he likes he offers to removes tumor mark for you. If you are just friends...he removes it in front of that eluvian in the trailer.

 

Romanced Lavellans will then be whisked away to some insanely beautiful elven setting where the most overwhelmingly emotional scene of the Dread Wolf removing her arm ensues causing us all to realize the true depths of Solavellan Hell.

 

Because, you know, they promised extra sauce for romances.

 

I can't tell if I want this to happen or not.

 

I'm scared.

I'm really hoping if you romanced him then you get the choice to go with him. I just don't know what my Solas romancing quizzy would do? She's an archer so now she can't defend herself, she can't go back to her clan because....well... they're all dead from the war table mission and she can't really join a new Dalish clan because Solas removed her vallaslin (so I'm sure there would be some real mistrust there). She will virtually be a nobody without any power whatsoever! a one armed elf without clan, family, friends, a lover and most of all power in Thedas really sucks. If those are her only choices then she'll just let him kill her because then she'll have nothing to live for. 

 

I think that would really suck for Solas mancers' if they're the only ones who get such a bunk ending. I can at least have hope for my male Lavellan settling down and having a kid or two with Cass because she's not the divine in my game.

 

Man I love Solas but he really wreaked my Lavellans life *sniff**sniff*

If it's supposed to keep us from wanting our Inquisitor in DA4 , well it's a total fail for me.

I want to play a pirate in DA4...so now my Lavellan would be perfect , he can't be a Dalish hunter anymore...but with a hook! He could be the next King of the Seven Seas!

I don't think that that will happen. Weekes didn't push the romance so far to just give him one line when it counts the most. He's not THAT cruel. Also, he wants to savor those fan tears, not squeeze one or two of 'em out like a lemon.

I don't know about you guys, but so far I'm not "utter intrigued."   I hope there's some sort of option to go with him...  but now I'm even less sure there will be.  They seem to have a set position in mind for Solas and, since they obviously will want to get rid of the Inquisitor so they can start a new character's story, they most likely won't want a Lavellan tagging along after him.

 

Yeah I really can't see the romantic relationship with Solas going anywhere and I feel like they were preparing us for that with some comments over time. He'll undoubtedly have a part to play in later games and the Inquisitor likely won't other than some mentions of what they're up to. I just can't see him taking us along with him whatever he's doing, but who knows what they came up with! I still trust them to make it an interesting ride!

I figure the Solas romance is always doomed. He's either a future antagonist or taking up Flemeth's role, and the romance is a bit of an obstacle to that from a writing perspective. And they may have decided that it was perfectly okay to make one of the extra romances the tragic one.

I'm going to be PESSIMISTIC now:  We'll probably get one extra line of dialogue and that's it :/  No option for Lavellan to join him, no nice little kiss scene (even a final kiss...), or anything.

 

Just him cutting her hand off or killing her.

 

 

Personally, just kill my Lavellan because she's suffered enough.  Just let her rest in a happy elven afterlife instead of spending her days remembering how the Dread Wolf cut her arm off and removed her vallaslin and left her.

You know, I saw a tumblr post about someone having forgotten they didn't put eyebrows on their Quizzy. Then they had Solas remove their vallaslin and there Quizzy was eyebrowless and this was before the Black Emporium.

 

The depths of this Hell are incredible.

 

Solas has taken vallaslin. Solas has taken gear. It appears he might even be taking Lavellan's arm.

What I'm desperately clinging to is this:

How many romances ended that we had no control over in past games? The end of Origins, they thought theirs was over, right? Morrigan was important to the plot as well and still is. Look how that turned out.

Yes, the Solas romance was to add more insight and to heap on the sads but they knew since Origins what he would be and at least an inkling of plans for him. Would they do all of that just to have it truly be over? Weekes had to know this dlc was coming even when they wrote the main arc. Would it be incredibly difficult to have her disappear with him even though he will likely have appearances later? He never even has to mention our Lavellan's, depending on the circumstances, or it could be a simple "I have someone waiting for me." That's just more headcanon room for us and I'd be more than happy with something even that simple. She could chill out with his ancient elven friends in the meantime or find other temples.

And if she really ends up handless, Abelas can be her personal bodyguard, which will generate lots of fics from some of you. ;D

I'm not giving up hope yet. It's not impossible. I won't accept less until it's staring me in the face. *puts foot down*

Just looking through the new clothing list and we also have swimsuits, Bloodmage, and Weisshaupt clothing and of course the formal_wear_armless (actually titled that).

 

That's all it took for Laidlaw to make good on his promise to leave me "utterly intrigued".

 

We...  have a swimsuit.   What on earth could we possibly do with it?   I've made the mistake of trying to take a shortcut across the shallow edge of a pond.   My Inquisitor can drown in a foot and a half of water.
