Wait, how do you get past purple flames in the first place?
I've been using the knight enchanter fade cloak ability.
Am I wasting my time on something that's not related to the plot? Haha

Later in the game your anchor ability gets upgraded and it grants you immunity to walk through the fire.
On the hope for Inky as DA4's main character.

Ahaha. I have been here an hour trying to figure this out! I'll come back later then.

Which version? The one that sheds light? Or the one that goes haywire?

Spoiler
There's no reason why quizzy can't be the PC; in fact, I'm embracing Quizzy for DA4 as my new Team Optimism standard!
In gameplay terms, s/he has just suffered a massive power downgrade to level 1. I don't care how badass you are; losing your arm means you have to relearn how to fight. Even if you get a bitching, Artificer-made, Furiosa-style replacement.
As for the Inquisition, it's either compromised if it's still around, or gone save for your closest friends and allies. Stopping Solas takes new allies, and the Inquisition will be little help where you're going.

I hear ya. I'm actually WAY more attached to my Hawke than my Lavellan, but considering the ending of DA:I you would think it would naturally lead into DA4 - all of your actions are based on how you are going to proceed to track Solas down, and the knife-stabby through the Tevinter Imperium on the map...it's a perfect set-up for the next game.
Until I am told otherwise, though, Dragon Age always follows the 'new protagonst' formula. And honestly, if you think about it from the perspective of someone who didn't romance Solas...do we want an entire new game with our Quizzie taking the lead? I don't know if it's necessary. ...and I am *only* commenting from a marketing/developer standpoint. Or at least, what I imagine their standpoint to be. I think the Hawke cameo received positive feedback in how they handled it, though, so I'm going to wave my '100% Confidence!' flag that a Lavellan cameo will be incoming.

Hehe, I was using Fade Step to quick burst through the fire, and using up 2 health potions in the process. XD
EDIT - @Sable...that's a good point! Quizzie's lost their power set!

Erm...I think it's the second upgrade? The first grants light. The next grants immunity? The third harms people around you significantly. It should be while you're still trying to get to the upside-down eluvian (I think? Or just before that section...).

ooooooh. I never pay much attention to the tutorial texts; probably should have read it more closely
Thank you!
Oh, did anyone work out what the translation for what Lavellan says to Solas when they first encounter each other? Something like "Ma ghilana, vhenan."
I don't think Quizzy is gonna be the protagonist for DA4. She says her fighting days are over during one of the choices at the end, obviously it's hard to fight with only one arm.
It's more likely our new Protagonist will be among the "people Solas doesn't know" they speak of during the last scene.
I get that, but...
Solas saved my Inquisitor...and he deceived her. He loves her, and he opposes her. That right there is the making of some delicious, delicious drama and storytelling, and I'll be so sad if that opportunity is wasted.
Although maybe they'll let us control two protagonists: quizzy pulling strings, and our new PC on the ground. I could go for that.

Well, I certainly would have a hard time watching any romance content go down between our Quizzie & Solas if we didn't have control. ![]()
I trust Patrick Weekes not to be too mean. He knows we're invested.
That would be ideal I'd say!I get that, but...

I just thought of something interesting. What if the new hero manages to take his power away, making him completely mortal? Then our Lavellan can take him home with her and help him live among people. It's both a punishment and redemption.
Worst case? He dies and she goes with him and they return to the Fade together and happy to be free.
Still reading through the thread here, but nobody has mentioned what's up with the elven pantheon currently? Are they having an extended time out in the Black City? What does Solas want to do with them? Just leave them there? If so, that's pretty messed up. Even death would be kinder at this point.

That would possibly make me angrier than ME3. And I was very, very angry over ME3.
We usually don't get personal antagonists any more. We usually get Archdemons or Reapers or whatever. Anders was personal. If you're playing Cousland vs. Howe and Loghain, that's personal. Master Li and Jon Irenicus? Personal AND brilliant. Those stories stick with me, because beyond just saving the world is the emotional weight of the relationship with the antagonist. I can save the world in any old game; I want a story about saving my vhenan.

This to me is rather like forcing Anders to live if you side with the mages. There's a poetic justice in forcing those two screw-ups to live in the worlds they make rather than going out like martyrs. Sable approves +100.

It just seems like something BW would do. And yeah I had to kill Anders in my PT because he wouldn't join me, but I also had the option of letting him go. I just didn't feel like dealing with Sebastian's war in DAI lol

Are we certain he isn't mortal? I'm unclear on this myself. He was in uthenera (sp?) and I don't know if that is what kept him from aging (stasis, of a sort) or if he still retained his immortality. Since the Veil ripped magic from the elves, I was wondering if it took his immortality and most of his power.
I just want an ending where they are together, or if that's not possible and Solas is doomed to suffer an antagonist's fate and go all mustache-twirling, I want my Quizzie (and this is the PC sadist in me) to die in the attempt of making him see reason. Did I mention I was dramatic? I am.

He's mortal but I meant stripped of his magic completely.
It's a good question though. Is he regaining power or is it a big mask to hide how weak he is, so he's using others to do the deeds that could kill him?
I just finished the DLC, and god... that delivered quite the emotional punch, even spoilered. Only reason I'm not crying is because I knew what was going to happen. that kiss. That promise to save him from himself! Can we be 3 years from now already so I can get my hands on DA4?

I braced myself for a less-than-happy ending, and I'm glad I did, even if I didn't have spoilers.
Here's the thing, though; I don't feel all that bad for my Lavellan. She doesn't come off as a victim, which she totally could have. Yes, the relationship is painful, but it doesn't seem to make her miserable, even when all's said and done. She has her friends. She has a purpose. And she has faith in people, enough faith where she really believes she has a shot at saving Solas.
Hands down my favorite PC. I don't think any of my other PCs went through quite the same physical and emotional duress, and she came out of it like a BOSS ![]()
Wow all this is making me wonder what he feels for a rogue/warrior Lavellan as opposed to a mage one....I'm actually kind of surprised that he can connect with one who is not a mage.
Why would his feelings for a rogue/warrior Lavellan be any different from his feelings for a mage Lavellan? I noticed this has been brought up a few times in the Solas thread before. I just wonder where people get the idea that his feelings for a non-mage Lavellan would be less than a mage Lavellan. ![]()
Also, if Solas was the one who killed Felassan, anyone have any idea which Elvhen god's vallaslin he has on his face? I remember Weekes not wanting to say which vallaslin he's wearing.

Yes, definitely not a victim, which is why I loved it so much. She's not giving up. Solas is making a huge mistake and she WILL be there every step of the way to try to stop him and save him from himself. in my game, she disbanded the Inquisition because it's been infiltrated, and anyway she can't ask all those people to follow her in what might end up a bloody conflict. damn, Patrick Weekes. I need to bow to you. That was some awesome storytelling.
