That would have been my real life response if I were my inky.  You put out so much effort to helping everyone, saving everyone, beating Cory, give everything you've got for these people, including losing your heart, your hand.

 

I'd be inclined to say "**** 'em all, I've done all I can, they need to figure it out without me."  I'd cut the cord, step through an eluvian and go traveling, see all there is to see before my end.

 

But your friends give back.  Sera offers you a place in the Jennies.  Varric gives you an estate.  Cass, even as Divine, says she'll always be your friend and have your back.  Dorian's sending crystal.  Josie's night at the opera.  Lavellan's friends love her just as fiercely as Solas does, and they stand beside her every bitter step of the way.

 

My Lavellan's taking up Varric on his offer to visit Kirkwall; if any place will be sympathetic to someone who kicked qunari ass, it's there.  Then she and Sera are out to kick ass, cause trouble, and find a Dread Wolf.

So uh i've been lurking around here all day and I've noticed that we're kinda ...splitting up ... 

 

I know some agree with Solas and some disagree, but we all love him in the end.

 

Personally, if I was Lavellan I would help him tear down the veil, but I would also try to warn others and form a sort of "Noah's Ark" so that not everyone had to experience what the inevitable Solas Catastrophe would bring. 

 

I believe that the proper state of Thedas should be how it was made to be, whole and with both its spiritual and physical sides merged. I disagree with Solas' intentions, which are solely for the elves, but I agree partially with what he wants to happen: to restore the world. 

 

Now then, if you disagree with me, that's fine, I respect all opinions. Just know that I love his character and mostly everyone else here does, too.

This is why I have two quizzies: one to save him, and one to stop him.  That way I get to experience two versions of his story without having to pick sides

 

I'm happy putting the big-picture stuff in the devs' capable hands.  I do still really want Solas to be at peace, and Lavellan to be happy, but I think I'm ok with bittersweet since that seems like the best we're going to get.

I love how he says "I hope Trespasser made that clear".  It just reaffirms that all the feels I got from their goodbye and the epilogue slides was 1000% intentional, and not a product of my fangirl mind.  This is not the end of a relationship, but another "..." until the next chapter.

 

I have to say that as tragic as it was, the DLC gave us a lot of fandom potential to work with.  Much romance.  Such sad.

I'm wondering if the problem is in his method.  Yanking the Veil down like a band-aid off a wound is going to cause chaos on a massive scale to our world.  Maybe there is a way to slowly peel it back, a little at a time, that can prevent the destruction?

Couldn't that create more chaos? As the fade slowly pools into the world, panic and hysteria would grow in every country. The more the veil opened, the more the chaos would grow, and Thedas would probably be a complete mess by the time the veil was actually fully torn down. 

 

I would see it as kinder to do it all at once, to prevent pain, if it must be done at all.

Finally finished, after being well and truly spoiled. It helped, actually, I was able to take it more slowly and explore more fully than if I'd rushed to find Solas, especially with only being able to play a couple hours every night after work.

From the beginning, knowing Solas was Fen Harel, I started seeing him as similar to a tale I'd been told about Coyote, in which he had a pot that could grant wishes. Each time he stirred it the world would change, and each time he tried to fix it and only succeeded in making it worse. He meant well, but intentions only get you so far. Eventually he had to be convinced to leave it alone -- much like I hope we will be able to do.

As for my Lavellan? She would like to help, if only to find another way to join the fade to the rest of the world. She is pretty sure it could be done, but that someone farther from the problem might be able to view it more objectively and find a better solution. Gather enough brilliant minds, and maybe there would be other, better methods. Maybe one that leaves the rest of the elvhen gods locked up, even.

I've watched on repeat the part of the DLC where your Quizzie says "There's still the matter of the anchor. It's getting worse." and Solas (in the most heartbreaking fashion EVER) says "I know, vhenan."  The way he says the 'I know'...it kills me.  And the look when she screams?  Ugh, I am so done with this man.  I need DA4.  I need fanfiction.  I need booze and chocolate and dramatic music playlists that make me cry.

 

Most of all I need the Solas romance card as a lithograph, gawddammit, Bioware.

Well my thought is that slowly dropping the Veil will prevent "burning the world" as Solas puts it.  People might start freaking out at all the magic coming through, but honestly how much more damage can they do to themselves since 1) the Blight freak out, 2) the mage/templar freak out, and 3) the Breach freak out?   

 

I would rather take my chances slowly, than dropping it fast and 100% ensuring destruction.  This is all assuming you CAN drop the Veil slowly at all, of course.

Hmm.  Well, you can cause small tears in the Veil, and those have always existed in the DA games.  There are also places like the Brecilian Forest and Frostback Basin where the Veil is thin and spirits interact more freely with the physical world.  At least in the Frostback Basin, it doesn't seem to be a problem (Hakkon aside) because the Avvar know what to expect from their gods and don't trigger a lot of the negative emotions that cause them to sicken.  And it might have been fine in the Brecilian Forest if not for Zathrian's meddling.

 

So on a smaller scale, thinning the Veil and adjusting life to it does seem possible. Maybe quizzy can talk Solas into slowly thinning the Veil, one area at a time.  First around less densely populated places, then as the world adjusts, in more populous areas like cities and towns.  That would also give people time to see that the Fade and its denizens are nothing to fear, and they just have to think differently about them.

 

tl;dr: Let's just all be like the Avvar! They seem to be the only ones with their crap figured out

I hadn't played the game in so long, I forgot how down I felt after the ending (romancing Solas). Now, the last talk with Solas in Trespasser made me feel even more down. He talks about you like you're already dead. It's disturbing. Cassandra gave me a laugh during the credits though. And that note to the fans gave me warm fuzzies. I don't know what to feel about Solas. He's so detached.

I know how you feel. When that happened I was already tearing up. Glad my husband wasn't home when I was playing. He doesn't understand how connected you can get to the characters.

I'm fortunate mine does.  He teared up after Haven was destroyed and they started singing the song in their camp in the snow. Love that man. Nerdy as I am.

Okay. I just finished Trespasser for the 3rd time. *fans self* somebody hold meeee ;-;

Anyway, what I don't understand and can't discuss on Twitter because spoilers, why in the world would Solas make the effort (I know the few years of peace before death blah blah) to help Lavellan, his LOVE (direct quote, too), defeat the qunari AND draw her near so that he could save her life and THEN watch her in her dreams yettttt ... He can't for some reason oh I don't know, NOT kill her or whatever when he tears down the veil? I just don't get it. Someone help me. You can see his love, it's quite obvious in his expressions and the feeling behind his voice, soooo would it be too much to ask to geez I dunno, not leave Lavellan in the cold, heartbroken, only wanting to be with you and nobody else, I mean just whyyyy? I know if you pick the option to do it with him (heh) he refuses because he doesn't want you to see what he becomes but ugh, I can't bear to think of him tearing down the veil and watching Thedas burn knowing that his lover is out there and he likely knows where she is at all times, I bet he keeps tabs on her! In fact, there's something else I wanted to ask!

Before you get to his cutscene and fight the qunari mage, there's a big wolf statue and you start fighting a mix of qunari enemies, Cole yells out, "There! He can't far from her, or it hurts him!" HES TALKING ABOUT LAVELLAN RIGHT? Please say yes. It's just, if he knows she's out there and he loves her why isn't he protecting her by keeping her near him or something? He says nothing about it, just "I will save the elven people, even if it means this world must die." And "I am not Corypheus. I take no joy in this. But the return of *my* people means the end of *yours." ... I tell myself he could've just said, "the return of my people means the end of you all", because that would include Lavellan dying, but he says yours, as in the others like you but not necessarily her. Am I making sense?

Also the fact that they keep saying IF they make more DA content is really starting to worry me. My emotions are like bubbling up inside, I'm desperately attached to Solavellan and it would literally make me FEEL sad for this story to end here. They MUST make a new DA! They're making a new ME and Shep's story is over, they're taking a chance! Take a chance with DA puhleeeeze (or I may actually die inside) (not really but there's a hole in my soul, man) (parentheses rock) (wooooooo!)

HIGH FIVE FOR FANGIRL MIND FEELINGS because hot damn I thought the exact same thing after reading those tweets! Yesyesyesyeysheyehyesskckfkdkkshs ahem... Sorry. Mostly. *watches end of trespasser dlc AGAIN* thank gawd the ps4 lets me save all of my the moments that are dear to my heart! And that's... 41gb worth. *cough* What? I like Dragon Age, okay!
