Never used this spell, though I understand it is pretty good. I did have a question about it: does it randomly throw the enemies all over the map once it expires, like Singularity in Mass Effect, or does it leave the enemies grouped together?

They stay grouped. I've heard of a glitch that causes it to throw enemies directly at you and they aggro onto you immediately, but I never encountered that.

I have had the random enemies being thrown out of the PotB seems to happen a lot if you use the skill on places like hills, stairs where there is a change of elevation as enemies are pulled into the center of it.

It happens every single time I use it on the PS4.
Basically, if the enemies are trying to run towards you while being pulled, then when the spell ends they'll assume the position they would have had if the spell had never happened. Very unpleasant.
The only way I've found to prevent this is to freeze or knock them on their asses while they are still gathered.

I have noticed it much more commonly in MP, where it is seems to happen nearly every time (off host anyway) despite terrain.
When I was testing RM builds in Emprise last run against the level 16-19ish rift past Valeska's Watch (it is the one near where you get the Sulevin Blade quest... I forget the exact level), it didn't fling enemies at all. I would usually hit them with an FM though, so not sure if that affected it.

I never grabbed this spell as I thought static cage made more sense.

It can CC some enemies that SC won't. Like Pride Demons.
Sadly it will drag in friendlies and apply Weaken to them (when upgraded) if FF is on.
