I'm not sure the point of nerfing a skill like this so badly 9 months after release. Sad. Very sad. I'm going to cry on my golden nug now.

150% damage down from 300. Only 100 against guard and barrier. Explain how that is function not nerf.

That is kinda sad but it basically turns something that is super Over powered to jut a bit bad ass, it'll be fine.

Yeah but I'll have to dig it up. Supposed to be chares you can build up and use now. Not sure I'm keen on that, I'll have to log in and test it. About to do so.

An overpowered ability is not much of an issue in SP.

The ones for MP yes, the patch notes for SP were taken down from bioware blog due to incorrect info.

Ah, I was kind of interested in the SP patch notes. I'm guessing they'll re-upload them eventually?

Agreed, and to be honest I didn't even find it overpowered, except possibly for barrier generation. I have yet to try out the new mechanics, but I too find this strange and a bit useless to change this and a few other random abilities in what may be the last patch. Just... why?

I think not. You can boost the damage of your lightsaber spirit blade well beyond the pre-patch levels with the Force your spells. Couple that with Conductive Current and the lightsaber spirit blade will be very powerful now in terms outright damage.

Before this, Knight Enchanter = Spirit Blade spammer. This adds a new depth to the Knight Enchanter that was previously missing.

Now you have to be more tactical with using Spirit Blade.

What's more, the damage to guard and barrier is still there. Previously, it was too much.

Additionally, the lightsaber spirit blade still has a low mana cost.

IMO, this is not a nerf because it opens up new ways to play the Knight Enchanter.

What most of us must realize is that the core of the Knight Enchanter specialization is Fade Shield, in the same way the Restorative Veil is the core of Rift Mage, Simulacrum is the core of Necromancer and Opportunity Knocks is the core of the Artificer.

Walking bomb now has a 500% explosion damage listed (used to be 600% and was bugged, only did 200%).  Not sure if is a change in the description only, or if the ability in the game is different too.

Upgrade to Spirit Mark now lists damage bonus of spirit as 100% instead of 75%.

So the Necromancer got a much needed DoT damage buff ! I'm sure Spirit Mark's AI is not working properly but if it has a 175% or 200% DoT per second, that's powerful.

Now the Necromancer is actually viable and I think better than Rift Mages because you can get enchantments to reduce spell costs and stack them up, which in a way sidesteps the mana issue.

Rift Mage though ? You cannot use enchantments to sidestep the shock/weakness bug, which is still in game. :crying:

I've tested SB, and it works quite differently now.

- The attack animation is faster and only costs 10 mana.

- You charge the blade with magical attacks (a SB icon appears with a value from none-99) and it goes up fairly quickly even with standard attacks. SB attacks slightly charge & use that charge at the same time.

- Defending Blade (fully charged) - deals a solid 1st hit, decreasing incrementally (but rapidly) after that. Uncharged... weak hits.

- Amplified's first hit (fully charged) doesn't seem to inflict any more damage that the first hit of a fully charged Defending Blade. Then the damage immediately drops to less than staff hits.

So after some preliminary testing, Defending Blade seems to be the clear choice (overall, better damage + Defending). But overall... it's mediocre.

Also, a number of us have found that it can bug out, removing the toggle option. (Reverting to an earlier save will restore functionality).

In the end knight enchanter is still a tank. The problem now is that the reduced damage just make the fights go longer.

This actually helped my ranged KE build. Am not coordinated enough to use Defensive Toggle, so when I do need the Spirit Blade for melee, it appears that it got a bit better for me.

Not to be rude but that only tells me what they fixed, not if they changed any abilities or how.

Yep. Now Bioware has made Knight Enchanter into a hybrid spellsword build that cast spells and uses spirit blade instead of favoring one over the other. You have to have a cycle with Knight Enchanter now, just like Rift Mage.

Rift Mage = Pull of the Abyss -> Static Cage -> Fire Mine -> Barrage. Rinse and repeat.

Knight Enchanter = Immolate -> Chain Lightning -> Fade Step -> Spirit Blade. Rinse and repeat.
