Sorry to bring up an old topic but with this latest patch I was hoping they might have slipped in a couple but nope. I've read all about the reasons behind the hair debacle, all about David Gaider freaking out on twitter over people comments. But its supposed to be a fantasy game, and I would like to at least have my female Inquisitor have hair that at least looks femanine. Seemed like a rediculous cop out to have that many version of buzzed hair as the options. I wouldn't care if the hair clipped with the helms either, just would've been a nice surprised to maybe have 1 or 2 added. Really hope in the next game they add some cause for me its been one of the biggest disappointments of the game. Oh yeah and autoslide! I freaking hate that autoslide, I've died more because of that than enemies. It really takes away from exploration when you can't even climb up a rock without sliding 20 feet back. Guess nobody learned how to climb with hands growing up in Thedas.
How about some long hair options?

I think you'll find it's a bit late for this game. They've said next game they'll change the approach to hair styles.
I hope by that they mean they'll hire new people to make the hairstyles. Some that are good at modeling the hair and some that are fashionable and have an eye for aesthetics as advisors so we don't end up with a bunch of Miley Cyrus variations, mullets, schoolmarm buns, old granny with super short bangs, random shaved parts, extreme receding hairlines that are pointy, sideburns on everything, etc...

They just need to spend more time on character costumization in general, most of the hair is cringe worthy, not just because of the style but also because of the low effort put into the modelling

I don't understand why BioWare didn't re-made the hairstyles from the previous games, that even if not great, At least were more tastefull and more lore friendly. Half the inquisition hair are or out a fps, or from the 80's.

I'm sure in the next game to make up for this, we will have the shoulder length hair for all genders and all races.

Yup. Might have been nice to have a Qunari with long hair. But I'm willing to live with a "Sten" look.

I would've liked longer hair in the game. Oh well. Maybe the next game will have longer hair

I am intrigued about the OPs remark about Mr. Gaider "freaking out on twitter". I don't do twitter so I am curious... was he upset with remarks made about the hair? Is there any way for me to read his comments. I respect Mr. Gaider a lot so I am interested in his take. If comments have upset him, I would feel badly but I was actually very perplexed and quite frankly deeply offended by the hair selection.

I don't have the actual quote on hand, but someone on this forum posted several images of the DAI character creator with longer and more stylish hair literally *drawn* over top of the PC's head, which made the people who were already upset about hair options even more upset. David then posted a comment about it on Twitter, which was something to the effect of "If only putting complex hair in a game was as simple as drawing it over some pictures."I am intrigued about the OPs remark about Mr. Gaider "freaking out on twitter". He certainly didn't freak out, and he actually made a very good point. Unfortunately, some of the hair-people took his comment as hostile when it wasn't really.

With the new patch we have to wait a long time for the updates.
The new Patch 10-compatible Mod Manager was released the same day as the patch, and hair mods generally don't break, so you should be good to go with hair mods.

That's lovely to hear though I think I'll wait with installing any mods until I am sure they are compatible with "Trespasser" then I'll do a modded run.

Given the nature of the beast with DLCs, the chances are that mods will be partially compatible, just like with the Descent and Jaws of Hakkon - for the most part they will work, but there will be odd caveats and exceptions discovered along the way.

I'll like to make a correction to an earlier post of mine: I've found the hair of my dreams that will allow me to signify a passage of dream while still maintaining the curly look that I love so much so I will be hoping it'll work with "Trespasser".

As a note; I recommend that those interested have a look at the DAI Modder Central since it keeps an update on issues and keeps a compendium of mods with individual links. It has a share of hair-related mods that are not avaliable on the Dragon Age Nexus as well.

Long hair options would be great, but I'd settle for shorter hairstyles where the hair actually moves like a real person's hair. A ponytail that never moves just looks silly--even sillier than the trendy half-shaves. We'll know we're really in the 'next gen' when there's no more Lego-person hair.

How about hair options for women of color? I'm sick and tired of my dark skinned Quizzy rocking stick straight white hair. Can I get some braids? Please??

I have to say that long hair in Dragon's Dogma and the Witcher 3 didn't clip in a way that I particularly noticed. Below is a picture of Geralt with a medium length hair cut. His beard, which I had let get too shaggy, (amazingly it actually grows in game if you don't go to the barber regularly) slightly touches this version of armour.
I also appreciate the quality of the hair. It looks like it has strands and actually moves when you walk, it blows in the wind.... incredible work by that team. So I am not sure why long and even flowing hair is not achievable for Bioware. Clearly the technology exists, but maybe not on frostbite?

In all honesty, I'll take all the clipping in the world for better hairstyles/long hair.
I'm use to the clipping in Swtor, where my cape cuts right through my mount but it still goes, so I'm fine with it here!

That hairstyle for Geralt was incredible haha. I preferred the shaved with a ponytail one.
The Elven Rebel haircut really made Geralt look like a rules are for losers sort of man-child.

I don't see why EAware can't do longer hair with all the resources they have, hell games like Heavenly Sword that released in early 2007 did a phenomenal with really long hair.

The hair was one of the fantastic things about TW3! All of the women (and men) who were main and supporting characters had gorgeous and varied hair and even the NPCs though more plain looked awesome as well.
I wish BioWare had someone who could do this on staff
I feel that DA:O was the last game they made where the hair quality matched the quality of the rest of the game and was about average for the time. Since then the modeling and texturing haven't improved much (the Qunari hair actually seems WORSE) to keep up with the graphics and textures of the rest of the game. The styles also seem to get worse with every game.
