Makes sense. We will see how long that last though. Eventually they will get the urge to report on something, especially if their stock price falls and they need something to give them a boost.

Still, I have strong doubts that DAI sold more than TW3. Of course strong supporters of DAI would disagree, but they are free to do so.

EA is more than just Dragon Age y'know.

... then why are you complaining all the time?

If it was painful, you could have got a refund much sooner.

But then he wouldn't be able to complain all the time on a forum.

What I've read so far in this thread is that nobody knows how many copies it sold. All the guessing is just that... guessing.

Pretty much this. After Trespasser I'll be uninstalling DAI for good. I will probably never play it again because it's a mediocre product, the sour note of the DA franchise in my opinion.

So you really think DAI sold at least 7 million units?

Hopefully it sold well enough that the franchise continues, all that matters to me tbh

Does more than 5 million sales numbers matter these days?

Waste of time if you ask me. Nobody actually cares... well, maybe they do to a certain degree. But not enough to stop liking the game. *Shrugs*. I suppose if they want to waste their life complaining about a game that, due to their personal tastes, didn't like. That's their prerogative.

You know what? The OP is far too mild in his criticism: it is time to make a list of every RPG who do things better:

  • Xenoblade made collecting loot better
  • Xenosaga offers a better depiction of an abusive & manipulative lover than the Solas romance
  • Zelda does archery and horse-ridding better (also dungeon design)
  • Avernum does cave exploration and crazy-powerful witch hellbent on revenge better
  • Suikoden II has a better HQ (and a better main villain)
  • Final Fantasy XII made customizing companion AIs better
  • Shadow Hearts Covenant has a better canine sidekick (with his own story arc and quest-chain no less!)
  • Pokemon sells more copy and is better at merchandising.
  • Dragon Quest is better at the one protagonist per game rule
  • Fire Emblem does romance better (less same-sex options, sure, but you can play matchmaker and high-dragons are available romance options.)

So the conclusion is obvious: for the Dragon Age series to reach its true potential: EA should sell Bioware to Konami, then Konami must order Bioware to make the next Dragon Age a 3DS game with Amiibo functionality where the player avatar has to collect 240 companions, then have them mate with one another, with their kids added as DLC. Also add giant robots hidden deep bellow the surface and hire Akira Toriyama as chara designer (that way, the devs will be able to claim that the characters' shitty hairstyles are a deliberate esthetic choice), Kaori Mizuhashi to voice female protagonists, and Yasumi Matsuno to write the plot (which will be 50% vague conversation in shadowy Tevinter boudoirs and 50% gruesome ethnic cleansing that will make Dragon Age 2's third act look like lolipops and rainbow unicorns by comparison).

No if that doesn't guaranty at least 20 million copies sold...

Wasn't Inquisition Bioware's most successful launch ever, in terms of sales? I swear I remember reading that somewhere.

And for people wondering if DAI sold enough for Bioware to be allowed to make a sequel, don't be silly. Dragon Age is EA's only fantasy game series, of course they'll make more. Sure, they also have Amalur, but a sequel for that is unlikely (which is a shame since Amalur was a nice game).

Haters be haters, I'm happy to say, at least this ain't Skyrm, where you spend more time modding then playing.

Why is it funny? Cause it draws comparison between similar features used in DAI and MGS5?

I know it seems suspect because of who the OP is, but no matter who drew the comparisom, it is still a fair one. Not all threads/comparisons here have to be pro-DAI and if they are, please reference the forum policy that says so.

If you have nothing valuable to add to the debate, then do not reply.

It's cool and all that when people put excuses on DA:I's faults has on the fact that it was crossgen, sadly even that reaches a limit, you can't really say the lackluster campaign was because crossgen...

Ah, this thread was inevitable. The honeymoon period for MGSV is in full effect.

Just... you wait until you reach the end of the game. Just... you wait.

No doubt. That written, however, Dragon Age as a franchise is big on making franchise-based promises. Many of us are just as interested in seeing the evolution of Thedas, and where the long-off arcs are ultimately headed in three, six, seven years, as we are in the here-and-now. There's a lot of stuff in there that is waiting to be cashed in on. And the games need to make cash in order for that to happen. So this is a popular topic not just among those who are hopeful the game sold poorly, but also for those of us who are just as hopeful it sold well.

I did, saw the twist some time ago, I'm okay with it, allthough the telling could have been handled a lot better in my opinion.

At least it's not as bad as DA:I "Andraste's chosen one" plot...

Gonna spoiler-tag my reply for MGSV-playing folks. There aren't any actual spoilers here, but it does involve referencing blatant production issues with the finale.
