Hey guys, have any of you encountered (after the patch) a bug where the SS doesn't generate any guard?

 

It happened to me today (FC/peri/storm) so I went about and tried to replicate it. I created a private game with the SS (peri/random) and couldn't reproduce it. Hopped into another lobby (FC/peri/frost) and once again I was not generating guard. Therefore, I thought the problem was in FC but when I hopped into another lobby (sorry for all the lobby hopping, whomever played with me today xD) and once again, I couldn't reproduce it (FC/peri/frost again). I thought if there was something in common in those two games I got and in both there was a Saarebas.

 

I was trying to find a pattern, so I hopped into another lobby (FC/peri/frost) with a Saarebas in it  but I didn't get the no guard bug. Then, I got into another (FC/peri/frost) and there was a Saarebas again and once again I wasn't getting guard. Then, last game, Saarebas in team again, I was getting guard again.

 

Has this happened to any of you? I thought it may have just been bad host (but the fun part is that I actually got again into one of the lobbies where I wasn't getting guard, the Saarebas had left. Also games were really smooth, no lag) and it was just fine this time.

 

I know it may have been just a fluke and after all, there isn't any pattern at all to it but 3 games where 0 guard was generated (even with Charging Bull) out of let's say 10 lobbies is a bit suspicious. Also freaking annoying.

 

inb4 working as intended, l2generateguard, etc. etc.

Edit -- saw you were already on the same thought path = Saarebas -- wonder if it has something to do with a particular Saarebas build?

I was thinking the same because that's the last thing I haven't tested (but I don't know her skills too well for now and I am not sure who was using what xD).

 

But until someone else gets this bug, it could have been just a weird occurrence on my end (game is unmodded btw).

Both Ispan and I were playing in a game earlier as Sisters with a host who was a Saarebas. Ispan couldn't generate any guard, but I had no problem with it. It was weird. It was Peri/Elven Ruins. We played a few more games with the same people afterwards and there weren't any more problems.

 

Oh, so it may be a thing now after all! I wonder why only Ispan got the bug and not you, maybe it's some consequence of her nerf?

It's definitely a thing.    I was grouping with some folks as a saarebas and using the staff that gives guard.  Not only did my teammates not get any guard, but neither did I.  Sometimes zones it worked, then didn't work in others.  It seems to be an intermittent problems.

Well, the good thing is that the bug where she generates guard for other allies near her is still here!

 

But mind you, the no guard bug is super annoying. If you, let's say, pug a NM and just found a good group... and you get the bug.   Insta leave. No way surviving NM without any guard.

Mine is still the same. She is still great on NM but the difference is that a mistake can take you down. Before she was totally invincible.

 

And btw, I get the guard bug periodically. I wonder if it will get looked upon/fixed.

Probably related to the nerf. If they changed it to a weird number like 0.8% guard on hit the game will round this number down to 0% guard on hit. Let's revert the nerf and see if it fixes it!

do yourself a favour and equip two savage thorn daggers and you wont suffer from the problem of zero guard generation, since their damage is roughly the same as hakon's damage your not loosing much in terms of damage and if you want to be a pro then use main hand as fire and offhand as frost runes (swap them over if your going against a fire dragon)

 

guard generation has always been buggy especially if you have any lag spikes (normally movement erratic of slowed down like your running through sludge indicated this)

 

actually use twin thorns on every dagger wielding char and your survivability just rockets up

I use 2 savage throrns as well - so each arm's hit generates guard. I played the suckarse sister yesterday and with the guard nerf and health nerf(doesn't that reduce guard too?) she sux. I don't think this bug hit me but her guard as gone in one archer hit and health in two. Had to be lvl 19-20 with both guard upgrades to make her any good. Guess I will abandon her for the Saarebas until it gets nerfed.

also anything that says damage returned on all the other chars does the same to you (drops your armour rating) I tested it a few times now and instead of soloing peri on a mid level toon i'm dying at the 3 greeting mooks as you enter zone one due to it ....

I didn't have that, BUT I did have guard on my hunter this morning... Using Dragon bow. No guard on hit, obviously. Weird.

Were you close to a silent sister? This is another bug where you can generate guard if you're near her.

I just had this problem and came her to find out what's going on. I had just promoted my SS went into a match with Hakkon and Silencer equipped instead of my usual Thorn in off hand, and couldn't get any guard to generate the entire match. Even when charging bull activated in a huge group, no guard. What I did find odd was the elementalist in our group looked to be gaining guard instead of me. Any time I should have gotten guard his went up instead. Also it wasn't like I was gaining guard but just not seeing it on screen, one hit still took away a bunch of health even though guard should have been high if this were the case.

This was a threatening match in Tevinter ruins, we had an Avvar, Elementalist, Hunter, and Silent Sister. I had joined the game already in progress perhaps that makes a difference
