If not on the official Bioware forum, and especially on the mp forum (because your business decision does affect mp content) then where? Where's your PR personnel? You never answered my question as to why you quietly announced the whole thing. Ignoring isn't answering. We paid the same money for less product. Own it.

PS3 and X360 no longer receive multiplayer support

Therefore discussing this on the multiplayer forum is off-topic because it is no longer part of the multiplayer.

And that's how it's going to be

Great Blue, before this topic is locked, let me tell you this.

Game companies can do whatever they want because their customers rarely speak with their wallets.

If the company I worked at did this (THEY WOULD NEVER) they would lose customers and millions of dollars. However, losing let's say 100 customers for BW is like 10,000$ which they really don't care about. Hell, I don't care about that kind of money.

So yes, our minuscule purchasing power means we are nothing to companies like EA (or the other big publishers, let's be honest, most of them are the same).

I know it feels bad and I can understand your feelings but there is really nothing you or I or anyone can do. Just move along, throw a few curses at them and don't shorten your life with the short-sighted decisions of the corporate world.

They're just going to either refer you to EA's Answer HQ or continue to ignore all further forum.bioware.com inquiries on this topic.

Give up and move on.

I'll take an attempt at having a reasoned, productive conversation on this topic.

The problem is that discussions won't do any good other than to make people feel somewhat better for having vented their ire.  Obviously no amount of complaining on the forums will change a business decision such as this.  EA/Bio knew how it would be received prior to the announcement and have already factored potential loss of consumer goodwill into their decision.  It is simply a business decision.

I genuinely feel badly for the prior gen customers who are missing out on the latest additions to the game.  It's a tough business decision & I absolutely get why folks are upset.  The problem BioWare faces now, however, is that they're not going to be able to do anything to address that anger but allowing it to boil over and fester on the forum risks turning the remainder of the community base off by the vitriol & toxicity.

It's a lose-lose for them so you just have to expect that such conversations are going to be shut down on this forum.  I'm certain their Customer Service team would happily respond to email inquiries and complaints in a private setting, but rabble rousing isn't going to get very far here.

It's a tough situation on all sides.  Personally I wish EA had just continued supporting the older gen consoles to the end of the game's life cycle, but if doing so was truly hampering their ability to provide fresh content for all the other platforms with larger player bases I guess I can see why they may have chosen to do so.  Old gen owners have my sympathy though.

if you get the transfer package and move to next gen you don't need to buy the game again, keep all your prior progress and can continue to get the new content, that's a lot more than some other companies have done (think ubisoft), everything has a life cycle and older consoles have had a longer one than many thought they would get at release, the only bad thing about each new generation is the lack of backwards compatibility at launch/

another point worth making here is that most if not all new releases will be next gen only unless they have been waiting for a release date and were specifically designed around the old gene system, by xmass there will be no new stuff for old gen consoles and according to some reports the servers will be getting switched off for them within 12 months as well (as in psn/xbl) which puts people like me in a bit of a quandary as having multiple consoles in the house that are owned/used by different family members i'm going to have to replace them all in order for the users to continue having fun playing with friends etc yet the new generation stuff is still too highly priced for that to be easy .... maybe if before they switch off the old servers they price drop the next gen stuf by at least 50%  (preferably more) then it would make the transition easier......

blaming a company for trying to support old gen stuff until it became apparent they couldn't reasonably do so seems a bit unreasonable

Why? I thought next gen and PC support was ending in December, why bother now?

Well said.

And while I definitely sympathize with the old gem players, because it is unfair, there is nothing I hate more as a new gen player than when a developer says "we would like to do that, but can't because of old gen."

The conversation is unfortunately over. There is no more discussion. It sucks for old gen, but you don't want to discuss it, you want to complain. And sadly, those complaints are now no longer on topic.

There's the small matter of actually getting a next gen console. I wasn't aware they were being handed out for free. I also don't think I've seen copies of the game being handed out for free anywhere.

On your point about supporting old gen stuff until it's unreasonable, it's been out less than a year, which is a pitiful amount of time, especially considering how broken some stuff still is. Last gen players have every right to be pissed off.

other popular web based forums. Bioware wants to pretend that the game wasn't released on 7th gen consoles so they will ignore all mentions of it publicly and warn you for trying to bring attention to it. You are on their forum, they control the messaging.

Or they are trying to keep their forums on topic and keep the toxicity to a reasonable level.

No one wants to "discuss" the drop of old gen anymore. People do want to complain.

It ssssssuuuuuuccccckkkkkkasssssssss.

But so does scaling back new content for current gen.

They've given their position. They heard and responded to the other position.

People just want to complain now, which is technically now off topic.

I get people are upset. But the conversation is done, even if the complaining is not.

You actually do have to buy the game again... And a new console....

So really you are buying the game twice in order to play content... However the DLC that you've already purchased transfers but not the game.

on the xbone with some you can just download the digital copy on the next gen console without paying for it again, never had dai on the 360 so was basing it purely off the games I did that with in the past already.

but even if you do have to buy the game again there are plenty of copies in trade in stores for a fraction of the new price (at least in my region) and whilst buying the next gen console is an expense (as I already outlined above) it would be something that anyone who wanted to continue playing new releases would need to get anyway... so its not a concern of the games developer in that regard, they could of offered a free download key for all current game owners on old gen consoles (make it a sign in to website thing if needs be) so as to lessen the blow but EA would have to call that one and they don't seem that hot on customer care, shame they don't follow the same mantra's as some other US based companies /

Yes, they have the right to be pissed off. I also have the right to get a next gen experience on my next gen console and I didn't because they base-lined the game. Someone brought up Ubisoft which although they've done some terrible things they did one very important thing right, they put out Unity and Rogue (plus Liberation) on seperate platforms to cater to both sides of the line.

This actually worked because old gen got their game still and it was a well made game, Unity was bug-ridden and Rogue (which was last gen) was almost completely bug free from what I played of

To chime in on nanotm's part:

You can even A.) get it on sale on Xbox Live or PSN, I've seen it as low as $15 on sale through Xbox Live w/Gold B.) In the case of Xbox you can get into the EA Vault for $30 and get access to ~16 games including DA:I.

Also anyone buying a new console in the UK region, if there are any

http://www.amazon.co...n/dp/B00KJG440W

That bundle includes the game for 347 pounds plus taxes.

It's wrong that they don't, at the very least have an official announcement on the News and Announcements forum.
I would have thought it news worthy of announcing.

I think the problem I have even though I've always been on PS4 is this DLC is actually storybased DLC.

It takes place  2 years after the Inquisition saves Thedas, it has your choice if the Divine on a counsel deciding your fate and it features the main antagonist (Solas) featuring heavily in it.

This should have been the first DLC they released if they had planned to drop support for current gen.
