So in addition to my little rant of how the latest patch has been making my game perform very sluggish and odd (with Companion AI and audio issues) I've just noticed another gameplay issue with the new patch.

As the title implies, generating Focus has become unbelievably slow.

I'm currently playing an Inquisitor who racks up Focus at a very quick rate (pre-patch). I'm using Masterwork armor that grants a 30% Focus Gain increase, as well as using the Superior Belt of Focus Gain (another 30%), and I have the passive ability from the Inquisitor tree that increases Focus gain for all party members.

And I always play as a team effort, using tactics and CCC (cross-class combos). Please trust me when I say that my Inquisitor gains Focus at an incredibly quick rate.

Yet I've been playing all morning and becoming increasingly frustrated with how insufferably slow my Focus is generating after downloading the patch. I like to generate a full focus bar (all 3 tiers) before a boss enemy encounter, and it's just not generating after hours of gameplay.

To truly test it out, I reloaded a save right before the main quest mission "What Pride Had Wrought." Because of the multiple mobs of enemies that you face throughout that mission, you can generate focus extremely quickly if you use superior tactics to overwhelm enemy forces. I specifically started the mission at 0 focus and fought all the way to Samson and didn't even gain the first tier of my Focus bar. Yet I've been playing as I always have and have gear centric to Focus generation.

I apologize if this rant is repetitive or some of you are becoming fed up with my frustrations. Just know that I am not bashing the game, just wanting to make others aware of issues myself and some other players are having. And of course, I would like for these gameplay inconsistencies to become fixed, should developers come across these complaints.

Is anyone else noticing this issue?

I am seeing this issue aswell. I posted in another thread that masterwork 10% chance to grant horn of valor is bugged and does not work. People also reported that masterwork unbowed is not working either. If its suppose to proc livid, its not showing at all. It disappoints me that i am forced to use another masterwork after i did alot of farming. This patch brought in quite a few bugs lol

Yes: my primary Inquisitor is a Knight Enchanter and I'm "suffering" from this issue as well.

I'm playing on PS4 unfortunately, no mods for me. Plus, I like earning focus the old fashioned way: good ol' tactics.

This patch is an absolute mess. Dunno if you've seen my other thread, but it literally tarnished my game.

Sorry to hear that. Here's hoping they resolve these ridiculous issues, as I refuse to continue playing this game at all until they do so.

This bug was the last straw for me in this game.... caused me to simply uninstall it outright..... think this game, as much as I enjoyed it when it worked, has more than enough problems with bugs and origin (I mean problems with origin working properly, not the ye olde "i hate managers" stuff) and a dlc ending (or so a lot of posts across the internet claim, I however cannot agree or disagree with this since this focus bug has broken the playthrough I started in order to play descent and tresspasser), to make me truly question if I shall ever buy another bioware game again.

this is just as bad as if the mana or stamina refused to regen properly, utterly gamebreaking without any of that unbeatable enemy or ctd on ____ quest type stuff

I am simply shaking my head in dismay atm...... time to go play witcher 3

addendum; I am playing on PC, but modding this game is such a pita that I gave that up (a quick glance at the numbers listed on one particularly popular mod site: skyrim mods = 43,497 _listed mods_.... newest mod listed is number 69664, so just think of the 26k mods they have hidden or killed themselves or due to the mod authors own actions..... total number of mods for dragon age 1 + 2 + 3 + mass effect 1 + 2 + 3 = 4,271..... I figure I would give a handicap to bioware there and tally 5 games that dont officially support mods along with the original DAO just to be fair.... I think those numbers speak for themselves... oh and one other fun thought is that a large amount of the ones for da 3 + me 1-3 are character slider positions or texture replacements or other relatively simple things, nothing anywhere near something akin to USKP, or SkyUI, at least not that I'e noticed)

edit: I should add that I was playing as a knight enchanter and, although I'm not entirely sure about this, but it seemed to me that I completely stopped gaining focus at one point when I was doing nothing but trying to gain focus until I discharged some of the new spirit blade charge stuff... at which point I started to gain focus at that snails pace again.... this was with a discharged focus meter that only had one of those little blue icons full when I started this.

I also switched over to another character that I had grown tired of a couple of months back, another KE and saw the same horrid slow focus gain.

That said, I did seem to work around this bug earlier this sleep cycle by removing all the gear from my inquisitor and all focus related gear from other people while in skyhold, saving, loading that new save, saving again, restarting the game completely and then loading that 2nd new save, but then it reappeared when I switched the armor on my inquisitor.

I also went looking for info from patch 10 on changes to the KE specialization from bioware sources and only found that little footnote about the charge meter being an addition, nothing about changes to focus gain.

This bug also started seemingly at random for me some days after installing the patch and tresspasser, but I have a feeling that is just due to my avoidance of using focus abilities with my playercharacter until I really need them.

tldr; thanks for breaking it bioware, heres hoping you fix it

PS: nice job finally fixing that invisible blade bug.... but something tells me the whole charge meter thing is related to that

I hope they will still patch the game. I also have audio problems and companion AI is just outright bad, they stop fighting, they freeze...but the worst for me is that I started a new game and the herb loot animation isn't faster. Loaded up earlier save with other character started prepatch10, it is quicker. I dont get it?

This patch is an absolute mess. Dunno if you've seen my other thread, but it literally tarnished my game.

Unfortunately, I can't play anymore. I play five minutes, then my Inquisitor becomes senile (meaning I click on stuff and it takes about two minutes for him to actually act on the stuff I picked), then the game just closes, without any warning or error. I'll just wait for the next patch... I guess.

if on PC ,did you repair the game ?

the focus ability bug is annoying me also.. but i keep on playing , making up with OP crafting and honestly the DLC's are dropping so much stuff that's making the main game even more trivial.

Aha, I was in Emprise du Lion and battled two dragons without any focus gain at all.  I was wearing the Skin That Stalks, but one that I made from a schematic. This game is a pre final battle with Cory, but I used the Golden Nug with my two games that have beaten Trespasser.

When I took it off the armor and put on my "normal" armor BAM I had a bunch of focus.    For me at least the focus problem is related to that armor.

So, any word on upcoming patches for this issue? I finally reloaded Inquisition for the first time in over a week and generating Focus is STILL very, very slow.

I am also constantly out of willpower... never had that issue. And my attacks dont do a thing. I am a KE and never used the lightsaber attack since i already kicked ass. But now that i dont hit crap AND lightsaber has been nerfed, i am being laughed at by venatori and red templars :(
