(Full Disclosure;   I am not Catholic.)

For the first time in a half-dozen playthroughs, I'm romancing Cassandra.  So I'm talking to her more than I ever have, and what I'm hearing her say about the Chantry sounds a whole lot like what I've heard the current Pope saying about how the Church needs to change.  How it needs to reach out to the least of us, and to care for all of us.  To exert itself in the modern (political) world on behalf of all humanity, and not to rest on its power and its wealth for the benefit of a few.

Wonder if any of the BioWare writing team have been listening to the Pontiff's messages as well, or is it just the Zeitgeist?

A Seeker. The people that were designed to protect the people from Mages. Who do not have the right to do whatever they please. Because they are not special or more deserving of life or freedom than non-Mages.

Considering his papacy started after development of her character and the game began, I doubt it.

She is a more progressive person than previous, and not power hungry like viv. Yet she doesn't change many things unlike leliana

That sort of thing is rather a recurring theme in church history, I think

Tends to be a recurring theme in many organizations that last long enough.

Careful- it's against the forum rules to speak about real world religions. I got a warning point on my account over it. Oh, wait, that was for speaking factually about real world religion- i.e., neither naively nor complimentary. Feel free to carry on then without concern...

This topic is not supposed to be for a discussion of the beliefs, merits, or doctrines of either the Chantry or the (Roman) Catholic Church.  It's to comment on the similarity of the (expressed) attitudes of Cassandra and the current Pope regarding their respective institution's need for, and direction of, change.
