so it should be self evident to most of us that the armor in the mass effect universe did all kinds of things from providing the shields, to the shield bonuses, the the melee power attacks, and much more. I'd still like for MEA to expand on it though, make it more modifiable with augments to natural abilities such as speed, accuracy, strenght, reflexes, and maybe include thrusters or some sort of metroid style barrel roll or I don't ****** know what else.

Also considering how trending open world is right now there is probably an 80% that Bioware is going to as always, go with the flow. So if it's open world then that means it won't be mission based, which means a day night cycle which means you aren't just jumping from event to event. This type of game is so common these days that a lot of people have made a category for it known as the persistent world type of game. persistent world as all sorts of game play implications, and many modders of skyrim and fallout have made very popular mods that do things such as enhanced weather effects, realistic needs and diseases, powered, power armor (as in your armor requires a source of fuel, and the player is to provide that source of fuel. Not suggesting all these things to be in at the same time, because that would be very hard core, and hardcore is the opposite of mainstream and bioware are certainly not in the habit of making hard core games, and they're not going to start now I expect, but still, bioware could do worse than to take note from the modders of bethesda game and be inspired by a mod or two.

Well, it looks like we are getting a jet pack. The guy in the teaser is not the protagonist but why show it of for him and then not give it to the PC? So I guess we'll see that. Variety in bonuses is always good. i could see something where we get light vs. heavy armor and we have to trade off protection vs. maneuverability (i.e. stuff like dodging capabilities and such). It would be cool to see some light armors with less plating IMO.

As for open world, I doubt it will be really open world, probably more like ME1 (which makes sense in this game anyway). I would be surprised if there were day/night cycles for every planet. Probably we'll get day planets and night planets like before. In fact, given what we know so far and what the teaser implies, I'd say chances are good that we'll see something very close to ME1 in the general game design (if more elaborate, detailed and generally larger). I have seen nothing to indicate that it will be more persistent or continuous.

I'm all for armor having more customization or more features that weren't in previous games, so long as the aesthetics don't drastically change.

I liked that for the most part armor in the Mass Effect universe looked somewhat practical and with a few exceptions (Cerberus troopers, I'm looking at you) wasn't oversized or looked too bulky. It is as important for body armor to not seriously restrict a soldier/marine's mobility or speed as it is for for it to provide protection, so the bulkier/heavier the armor the more impractical it looks.

Also technology is great, but it isn't practical to rely solely on it. The massive power armors would require some sort of targeting assist for marksmanship since the large and cumbersome armor would get in the way of the fundamentals of good marksmanship, and anything with an EMP would render that useless. Likewise massive armor that required machinery to operate would completely immobilize the soldier or marine if exposed to an EMP. Armor should look the wearer could completely function without targeting software or machinery that enabled him or her to move.

A lot of the fieldcraft soldiers or marines frequently have to take part in also require tool use, which is impossible if your gloves are massive armored ham hocks.
