When you think of it, it's rather devious: Bioware realized that part of their audience were really attached to the romance sidequests, so what did they do? put these behind a paywall by making the romances conclusion part of the final DLC.

You... realize we're talking about Inquisiton-era Cullen.... right? The Cullen who's not a Templar anymore, does not live in a Circle anymore, does not have to follow the ethics policies on mage/Templar fraternization, who can totally be romanced by a mage protagonist if you choose to play one, and who even references in dialogue this same scene you posted if you ask him about it? I mean, context is kind of important in this conversation.

@riverbanks  Thank you for your input.  You have raised several interesting points, and all are relevant.  I guess I have been spoiled by all the fantastic and creative work that was done on DA and the romance plots in that game......ie. weddings, etc.  Even with DA2, which was not as well received, the romance plots were clear even if there was not necessarily a marriage proposal at the end.  Given that they have also brought those romance options forward into DAI with reference to Alistair married to the Warden, or Hawke staying with Fenris or whoever, I guess I expected a bit more from the romance options in DAI.

We can only hope that the modding tools for DAI reach the same level...... :)

Cheers,

Well, both the Josephine and Cassandra romances end with them looking out on the balcony in the Inquisitor's quarters wondering what will come next.  It may not be concrete, but it sure beats something like, say Mass Effect 3.

I certainly wasn't planning on something like Josephine's sister's weird idea of he Inquisitor and Josephine running off to the Grey Wardens and fight darkspawn the rest of our lives.

Cassandra dumped my Qunari to become the Divine :crying:

It would be interesting fir Bioware to expand the romances as sub-quests for all the romance options, e.g., the Cassandra romance, but with more of a challenge.  You have the duel wirh the Josephine romance, but that is not really a challenge, the duel ends with Jospephine's love declaration in a cutscene.

Bioware could do so much more to make the romances more interesting and worth exploring. I have not played through all of the romance options yet, but reading the previous posts it seems like all the romances fall a bit flat and the end.  Again, there should be more to the romances then a few cutscenes.

I think the current romances are fine, Bioware had to fit in a lot of stuff and they naturally could not get things to be as organic as possible. For instance, I always thought the reaction to, say, a qunari romancing Josephine should have been a tad more visceral than a mere peasant comment from her fiance during the duel. That's what always bothered me about Dragon Age Inquisition, the comments on race are there but otherwise whether you're a dwarf, elf or qunari you are still basically treated as if you were human which makes no sense in a world with racism like Thedas. Not to mention that somehow no matter your background you know how to dance very well at the Winter Palace which is not the sort of thing a dwarven thug or qunari mercenary would do. On the matter at hand, I would only endorse such an interest in romantic subplots where it furthers the story and not merely for its own devices.

Well, watching quizzy take dance lessons would be very boring. :P I'm sure Josephine brought in someone to teach them though.

(Spoiler Alert)   Well, I made it through the new DLC - Trespasser and it was absolutely fantastic!!!   I loved every bit of it.  Yes, I did get my heart's desire and was able to marry Cullen, finally.  The new dog was a cute addition, although I didn't care for the fact that most of the DLC was spent with Cullen petting him instead of talking to his new wife.  They didn't even tell anyone that they got married...... :?

I must say however, that Bioware put together a great ending to DAI and there are already hints of DA4.  I can't wait!

Thank you to all of you for your input into this little blog.  It was interesting to find out about the different romances, especially the ones that I had not pursued myself.  I didn't realize that Josephine even had a fiance, where did he come from I wonder?  There is never any mention of him throughout the game, and even at the end of the new DLC they don't indicate that she returns home to marry him.

The new DLC was full of action, and while it does allow you tie up any romance plots you have going, it was far from being centered on that issue.

Cheers,

Everyone wants something different when it comes to there LI. Plus Bioware cant make everyone happy. I would have loved to Romance Dorian with my FemDwarf/qunari but he wasn't interested and I am fine with that. Besides *sighs* I am very happy with Thom  ......anyway to my point, not everyone is going to get what they want and everyone has there own idea of what is or isn't a good ending. As for Cullen, I love his Romance ending and I am so happy for those that have him as there canon LI.

Be kind with my best buddy, please. And make a lot of beautiful babies! :D

PS: Bioware could TRY to give us a few choices more. And to realize that there are not only "little children" playing their games, but a lot of adult people (who work and have a family and children of their own). And adult people are a bit more ambitious. I have the impression Bioware is a bit frigthend about love, sex, family and children ..... ;)

People are STILL complaining about the romances? I think the romances are just fine, especially Cullen's omg him and Iron Bull have the most romance scenes...I think. You know who needs more romance scenes?? SOLAS lol omg you can't even kiss him.

I'm very happy with my Cullen and IB romance endings, in the main game and Trespasser.

Can't say I have any complaints with how the Sera romance wrapped up. Was more pleasantly surprised than anything, getting ninjamarried for one, wasn't expecting that nor seeked it but hell why not. Seeing her mellow out in regards to the whole creators thing also and by mellow out I mean showing concern to how your Dalish elf might feel about all of it, as mine was still pretty raw about everything. :P  So yeah I felt she grew and am pretty satisfied plus her lines in this dlc were hilarious.

Thanks to all.  I was hoping to get more information about the conclusion of the various romances, i.e. Josephine, etc.  Thank you CrimsonN7 for the info on Sera.  It is nice to know she finally mellows out some.

I spent the first 10-15 minutes of the DLC laughing my head off with some of the comments generated by "the friends" of the Inquisitor.  The scene with Varric was really funny, I thought. It was nice to see some humor brought into things.  I really enjoyed the part where the Inquisitor gets angry about the whole scenario with the council and her hand.  Cullen comes and gives her a big hug.......sighs
