The storm belt is great on the AW, however with my low/medium promotions he loses a lot in terms of survivability. With 70 constitution my health drops down to just 2 bars when i switch from belt of health to the storm belt.

That said, it's ****** awesome to hit 4000's with chain lightning and over 1000 with hakkon crits.

And the bolters seem to be random on wave 4 of the darkspawn. Some matches they are there, some they aren't.

have you tried the accord amulet and reduced threat passive on AW?

Indeed.

There used to be a nice sticky with all changes. I don't know why this got unsticky'd but this was a wonderful collection of relevant information.

All the information is available thru the Unofficial DAMP Library. I guess Bioware deemed it unnecessary to have dozens of sticky posts when 1 contains all the info.

Encountered them twice on Friday (solo PC Threatening runs for challenge) and both times they had bolters on Wave 4.

Yup, same here. Had to kill lots and lots of them in a FC threatening run. Luckily I was with my reaver.

ok so far dwarves(bolters) are pretty much confirmed to be on PC and PS4, i'm on Xone and from my  experience i haven't encountered them whatsoever. can anyone else on the Xone confirm if they have played against the dwarf faction? (not just bolters the faction in general).

Yes, XBone.  Confirmed have encountered the dwarf faction in wave 4 including bolters and sometimes no bolters but still had dwarfs.

Don't have it. But my main problem was that the rest of my team died on zone 5. Twice.

Did some testing in NM with the belt and the hakkon staff and it's amazing. The only thing that kind of ruined 1 game out of 3 for me was a group of red templar horrors who ganged up on me in FC zone 4. Even with the belt you only hit them for 1 damage.

The new spirit blade is also great. Charge it up to 99, use it twice and then charge it back up again. A crit with 99 charge and the hakkon staff does 4000-5000 damage for me with just 50 willpower.

I'd say this patch made the AW a lot more awesome. I never liked spirit blade, but this way it's amazing, especially in combination with the lightning belt and chain lightning.

edit: Don't take the spirit blade upgrade though. It's terrible.

Can you explain what it does and why it is terrible?

i have one and will try it on NM and see if the aggro passes over me. It would make it a very interesting AW build.

Livid

Does it combine with frontal defense or not?

Need to know if I have to scrap a build

Its not unless you are used to just sitting and spamming SB all day like most people in PUGs

so what? if someone wants to spam SB all day let them. Seems like some people have issues with and wants to force their play style onto others.

Terrible might have been a bit extreme, but the upgrade drains all your charges in 1 hit. Without thd upgrade you can get about 3 boosted hits out of your charges. Its especislly usefull against pride demons and other electricity resistance enemies.

Its nice that you charge quicker with the upgrade, but i found that i killed most enemies quicker without the upgrade.

It depends on the situation.

If you build your AW around POTA and Spirit Blade, then the upgrade is quite nice. Fade Cloak gives you back almost all your charges for another round of awesomeness...

Don't have issues and people can play how they want, however, that does not mean they are being effective by spamming one power (at least on something other than a reaver).  Even when the game was young and I hardly had any promotions and SB did greater damage I hardly used it except to get rid of guard or when I could hit 3 or more mobs at once with it.  I still ended up constantly top in the group by a large margin vs other AW who would spam SB all day long.  It was never that great even before the nerf compared with the other tools available to the class.  Now, for those who understand the full class and use all the tools, SB with the upgrade just got a huge buff.

Now, for those who understand how to generate xp. If you spam chain lighting you will outscore your fellow AW spaming SB ;)

Yeah, thats true. I ran NM with the storm belted chain lightning and stone fist, and SB and fade cloak filled out the last 2 spots. I'm not really sure which of those skills i'd drop for PotA. the storm belted CL is there for massive damage and charging SB, stonefist for sleep status and fade cloak is mandatory on NM. Pre-patch i used to run my AW with PotA instead of SB, but since the charge system i actually prefer SB.

The AW offers a couple options. You can build him around the sleep combo, you can build him around Spirit Blade and you can build him as an Hybrid. Honestly, if it works for you then you're playing him right.

With that out of the way, this is more what I meant when saying build around POTA + Spirit Blade:

I now roll Fade Step, Fade Cloak, POTA and Spirit Blade.

It's really basic:

  • POTA to get everything in a tight spot
  • Fade Step to close in and build my Barrier (because of FS damage)
  • Fade Cloak on arrival to avoid damage
  • While waiting for Fade Cloak to detonate, use Spirit Blade to great effectiveness since enemies are all bunched up together
  • Fade Cloak detonates, deal great damage, knocks down most enemies and charge Spirit Blade
  • Finish things with Spirit Blade
Everything in that build synergize very well. It's all about getting enemies in a tight spot and benefit from that as much as you can.

The only characters that can clear a group of enemies faster than this are the Reaver (Dragon Rage) and the Sister (Deathblow). It makes Nightmare runs relatively easy, your team work much better because of your crowd control while you deal a lot of damage too.

My opinion is that the "FS, FC, POTA, SB" build is the most effective for Nightmare while the sleep combo build is most effective for Perilous and lower difficulties. The reasoning behind this is simple: at one point, everything dies too fast on lower difficulties to actually pull off the "FS, FC, POTA, SB" build.

The WF nerf has got to be the biggest change in the patch and it wasn't even listed!

Luke I just want to know why it was done? If you wanted to nerf it can you give an explanation at least? The fact that it went in silently is what irritates me the most.

Is it just my imagination, or was Horn of Valor buffed?  As I recall, the upgrade used to be only +damage.  Now, it is +damage and +armor, which provides a small bit of solace for the loss of Unbowed on the templar (if this is indeed a change that was made in patch 10).

I actually prefer livid on to unbowed on the lego, and so long as you take flow of battle chances are you wont even notice the cooldown times being long, the matches I played I used it and soloed wave 4 fc on Templars, fortunately they had replaced the archers with those damage soaking dogs but still everything other than horrors being close range beasts made for a very easy round spamming livid every few seconds to put guard and damage up then smash out shield bash and payback strike for twin crits and zero cd :)

its all about how you play I guess but for me that's as pretty winning combo when you have a decent shield and a biter axe, actually that 100% boom on kill tends to work extremely well with bunched up enemies, my only real grip is every skill that used to make you getup instantly after being nocked back/down or stunned /feared etc no longer works /
