http://forum.bioware...till-not-fixed/

I decided to download the add-on and not much to my surprise, when ever a emmisary or however you spell it pops up, it starts fighting and my game crashes (which forces me to restart my computer). It wont happen when I put everything on low. I'm not the only one with this problem, it's been around as long as the release of this game.

http://answers.ea.co...sh/td-p/4055070

my specs: GeForce 970GTX with an ASROCK Fatality motherboard, i7 2600k, SSD Crucial 250 GB, 8GB RAM

I guess Bioware prefers milking money instead of taking care of the customers who initially already paid for their products.

At a glance, your rig and GPU look better than mine, though I do have 16GB RAM.

One suggestion: Based on personal preferences, I have Graphic Quality set to Low; less flash and smoke, helps FPS, and spells and FX appear more natural, IMO. Perhaps settings like this work the same was as some fixes seen in previous games (eg; Shiny Water, Mana Clash).

But as my game runs great and I pre-ordered, I have a different perspective on those results.

That's quite a random problem.

I can only think that it could be a problem with the GPU itself. Or the Motherboard. OR the slot you are using for your GPU. Have you tried putting your GPU into another slot on your MB, if there is one?

If you can do that, and it fixes the problem, then it's that particular PCI/PCI-E slot.

If you can't do that right now, I'd suggest rolling back on your GPU driver, then downloading the latest one again and choosing the CLEAN installation.

Apart from that, I'm not sure what else you could do to fix it. Hopefully browse the internet before the EA help section and these forums, in the hope that someone else has this problem on another forum board, in case they or someone else has found a fix over there that isn't here.

But all I can suggest is doing a clean installation of the latest driver, and putting the GPU into another MB Slot. Make sure its not tilted and properly set in place. If after these attempts and its not working, I'd suggest looking at a replacement GPU.

Wasn't the 970 the one with the problems anyway? Instead of 4GB, you are only getting 3 - 3.5GB? Could be further indication it's a problem with that card itself. Surprised they didn't set up a specific step-up program for that card.

i´m playing on notebook, only GF680 4GB, i7, 16GB ram, havent even installed the game on SSD, all high settings with about 40-45 fps, havent encountered even one game crash in single player, multiplayer is another question.

My game also runs great on ultra but it's the crash that's the problem, not the fps.

I can play every other game on ultra, this one too, but it's just the crash that's the problem. Whenever that ice demon or the emmisary does a spell it crashes.

you got everything on ultra? can you share your graphic settings?

even if you dont have a problem, other people do have this problem, its just sad to see Bioware hasnt done anything about it

Check multiplayer forums, randoms crashes to desctop r more then "daily bread" for them, there r some settings that can prevent some of the crashes, but not all of them.

The Mana Clash and Shiny water bugs in past games also caused crashes. Still recommend setting Graphics Quality to Low.

It's a problem with the 970 card specifically.  You don't have to turn all of your settings down to low, ONLY the "combat effects" one.  From what I can tell, effect when a Despair Demon does its "fade step" thing over a long distance causes a stack overflow that will hard crash (as in, you must power off/power on) your PC.  Yeah, I've had this problem, myself, it's REALLY annoying because it's the ONLY thing in the game my computer has the remotest problem with.

For me it's their ice beams

I have a GTX970 with all settings set to maxiumum and I've never had a problem. I'm playing at 1920x1080. If you're playing at 4k resolution then the card may have problems. Whilst I loathe Despair Demons, I've never had one casue a crash. There's a thread somewhere around here (http://forum.bioware...the-pc-version/) that may help. Many of the things are obvious, but things like disabling Origin in-game aren't.

didnt know this forum allowed 13 year olds

anyway there's a big topic about this here as well: http://answers.ea.co...ht/false/page/2

EA and Nvidia apparently dont give a **** about the crash since its been going since the launch of this game.

Before I could just put the settings on low and play on, but now at the chest guarded by 2 despair demons and a fire elemental it keeps crashing in the fight.

Your issue does seem to be one experienced only by those with GTX970 cards.  Sounds like an nVidia problem.

Been running my i7-4770, 16GB RAM, GTX770 on ultra since release and this doesn't happen to me...
