Thanks for posting these vids. May have to re-consider the Rift Mage again.

Am curious as to how you are able to survive w/o having Barrier on your various builds. I know I would be crushed repeatedly, but you seem to manage well without it.

Hey thanks for commenting, and it's mainly reliant that you are good with tanks, or another mage allowing you to deal a ton of damage, and all the cc you have i use for running away, i never seem to have problems without barrier.

Yes; I watched your Winter build to see just that. Personally, I must use Barrier, Pause, Tac-Cam, and anything else I can fit in inventory for protection, including Fade Touched Guard materials. Am not one for moving around during combat, though I have gotten better with Archers.

In your opinion, would Rift Mage be a good choice for the Winter school? Was thinking that Shatter effect might be a frequent result, though possibly not as effective as some others.

Since the latest patch, my Rift Mage is easily my most overpowered class. Going with the Devouring Veil upgrade on Pull of the Abyss and syncing it up with the Flaming Array upgrade of Fire Mine. With this you can create 3 mines (each of which have 1600% weapon damage) and 500% weapon damage from Pull of the Abyss on every enemy affected. That means you can pull multiple enemies across multiple mines. It just annihilates lower level enemies in droves.

Fire Mine + Pull of the Abyss = POWAH !

 

1600 + 500 = 2100% AOE weapon damage. If you upgrade Fire Mine traditionally, its 1800+500 = 2300% AOE weapon damage. If you upgrade Fire Mine with 3 glyphs you have to be close to the Pull of the Abyss but if you do, it can yeild 500+ (3x1600) = 5300% AOE weapon damage.

 

That's honestly the highest 2 ability damage combo with AOE we have seen in game. No other spell combo can beat Fire Mine + Pull of the Abyss. None. Nyet. Nada.

 

I don't think there are even any Warrior or Rogue abilities that can match Pull of the Abyss + Fire Mine damage potential post patch.

Thanks for that post, made me laugh loads xD and yep i have so many more builds to make, and annoying cause every time i make a highest mage damage it seems something comes along to replace it making me make another xD but rift mages are incredible at the moment
