I don't know, personally I would love to have a few NPC's who are identified as coming from, for example, Northern Europe. Right now it has mainly been UK, USA/Canada, that the humans of Mass Effect have come from. It would be nice to have, even if it's just that character saying matter-of-factually that they used to hunt reindeer in their youth, or something. Now, bear in mind, Systems Alliance is the representative body for ALL OF EARTH. So of course it would be more awesome if there would be more African's as well, along with Northern Europeans/Other Europeans, etc. No Swedes, obviously. I just focused on the Nordics being from there myself.
More NPC's of European/Other descent?

If there is budget for it, sure. Not a priority (for me), though.

We need Ivan the Space Biker.

Ah yes, 'budget constraints', a term used when people think something isn't worth the time of day. We have dismissed this claim. ![]()
But seriously, I'm all game for some Norse, Ethiopian, and other such Europeans. We don't need no more Brits or Russians in space!

Ethiopia isn't in Europe, it was in fact never even occupied by the Europeans, which makes it stand out from most, if not all, other African countries.

Oh shoot, what country was I thinking about? NOW I HAVE TO CHECK A MAP.
EDIT: I meant Estonia. . .Considering I watched Encino Man yesterday, you think I'd have remembered that.

A more diverse human crew would be great, and better reflect the international composition of the Alliance. All the Normandy's main characters appeared to be American, Canadian, or British, or descended from North American / British colonists.

Ethiopia was occupied by the Italians in 1936. Every African country has been occupied/colonized at some period in their history.

That was a problem because Italy started colonizing Africa after it was going out of fashion.
As for the topic, hell, yeah. Like Star Trek (TOS), ME got worse about this as the series went on.

Recently finished the two Metro games
I really want space russians, a team of characters like Pavel saving the galaxy would be both hilarious and awesome.

My mistake then. Doesn't change that it was independent for a rather long time.
Most definitely although it ends a bit sad.
As for OP, I don't really pay attention to the origin of the NPCs but I wouldn't mind BW to mix that.

I actually thought ME was pretty diverse:
Joker is of French descent
Kaidan is of Slavic descent
Udina looks middle eastern to me
Anderson and Jacob were african american
Ashley and James were of mexican descent
What really stood out for me was that there were almost no notable asian characters anywhere until Kai Leng.
But sure I'd like to see a lot more diversity in names at least (they don't need to speak with strong russian, german or french accents or anything like that). I'd like to see more German, Slavic, Asian, Swedish ect. names in MEA.

I actually thought ME was pretty diverse:
In terms of ethnic background it was diverse, but not in terms of national origin. Nearly all the major characters aboard the Normandy were from North America, Britain, or Australia, or descended from colonists from those regions. In terms of national origin the Normandy crew was solidly 'Anglo.' The lone exception to this was Dr Michel in Mass Effect 3, who was French.
EDIT: And also Kasumi...can't believe I forgot her.

Anderson? He was born in London, you know.
Anderson is a cockney and Shepard needed a universal translator to understand him.

Illusive Man: I warned you. Control is the means to survival. Control of the Reapers… and of you, if necessary.
What Anderson said: U wat m8? Are you 'avin' a Turkish?
What Shepard heard: They're controlling you.

... and where did you get this information from? ^^;
Nordics are simply Iceland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland. UK is counted in West Europe.
