While I understand the appeal of MMOs, I can never get into them myself. I prefer playing alone, or maybe once in a while a "party game" with a couple of friends. Story and character development are the main drives for me to play games, and I find MMOs just can't properly implement it. Most people in online games, from what I've seen, focus more on grinding and collecting items rather than roleplaying. It just doesn't appeal to me.

To be fair you're talking about the younger generation of mmo players, the appeal of an online world should not be about collecting trophies and mindlessly grinding levels, but other people playing along side you or with you, interaction in a breathing world. The latest crop of mmos unfortunately have not done this all that well, but hopefully in the near future we'll get back to that and maybe more people will discover it's ok to make up your own stories.

There is actually a lot of role play in any mmo, you just have to look it for it as the RP community tends to keep to itself and I'm sure you can imagine why.. ;)

Anyway dragon age as an mmo would be ok except that it wouldn't be ready to release yet and it would seriously lack in the story driven department that we love from Bioware. This is also a major problem with TOR, it remains to be seen if they can actually bring story driven content to an mmo the way they usually do it in their other games.. And if they succeed will TOR be actually considered an MMO?

So far the best online worlds I've seen are the ones where the devs give people tools to make their own content and not push things on the player which is what we have most of right now.

Oh, I know - that's why I said "most"; I do know a few who roleplay on MMOs, but they're far fewer than the ones I see focusing on raids and battle. I don't have anything against those who prefer grinding to roleplay - I just don't share their interest. I constantly baffle people when I can acknowledge a game is good for what it is, even when I don't want to play it myself. Just because it doesn't appeal to me doesn't make it innately bad. =]

I just read the first page but anyways, here is why i though was an online game:
Demon Soul is something like DA and then, it have co-op and all other stuff.

And one thing i think this game HAD online before:
Grab your PS3 DA:O US manual and go to page 37 (or 27, can't remember well). It's the last page before the 'Credits'.

If you read the 'Online' part, it says things about connecting to OTHER PLAYERS and firewall settings and problems, that means, something like online/co-op mode !!!

I think the game had but EA or BioWare dropped before releasing but since manual was already printed, they gave us the old manual.

And a personal opinion of mine:
I don't like this Trophy Hunt, i like more to play and enjoy with other people than playing alone trying to get trophies. I don't like 'em. I just play and get awarded sometimes but i dont play the game exclusively FOR trophies.
