Seems like we are going to agree about being pro mage or something.
But do you lose the elf I'm blanking on the name warrior with the lyrium tattoos. Oh Fennris. Due to rivalry?

Fenris won't leave if you're shagging Merril.
Why should you agree, all of my mage playthroughs are pro templars.
And Merril rivalry romance is better than friendly one, or so i hear.
Pro-templar mage is the only way to play.
I did the Merril rivalry bed scene once and I didn't like it because we hated each other. It didn't make sense to me.

I've romanced a city elf with a noble-blooded human, a dwarf with an elf, an elf with an ancient elven god, a Dalish Keeper's First with a Tevinter magister's son, a female qunari mercenary with a female human noble, and a dwarf with a Qunari literally over twice her size.
"Natural" don't have nuts to do with it.
If you can see your character having a connection with Merrill and treat her well in the game, then go for it.
