Hello! I recently made my Origin ID and am thinking about spending 86 dollars and purchasing the Deluxe Edition with all DLC content while the sale is in effect. I own Dragon Age: Origins on Steam and am wondering how this game fares. Can anyone give me a brief summary about the gameplay and mechanics? How is multiplayer handled? Is it easy to find other people to play with? The most important thing (for me anyway) is the music. Is the soundtrack really good like in Origins?

Thank you for taking the time to answer any of my questions. :)

The game does not exist pirate, believe me, I searched in all the internet, i had to buy it, and i dont regret.
You need the game original for:
- Play multiplayer
- Use mods
- Use the Dragon age Keep
- Have the DLCs
- Have the latest updates
Maybe you should wait to a offer, i buyed when the game was on %50

I will answer to the best of my ability and try to keep my opinion to a minimum.

Combat: DA:I continues the trend of having a 4 person party who's members you can switch between. You have the option of playing in an action oriented mode in real time or using the pause and play to issue commands, a new tactical camera has been added for this. The tactical camera lets you choose the abilities or position of each character as well as seeing the enemy health and status. You can now only use up to 8 abilities in combat and you have to set them as hotkeys before a battle (you can't change them during combat). You can no longer use extra abilities through the radial menu. Healing magic is gone from the game with the exception of one "limit break" type ability that consumes something called focus which you build by killing enemies and can use it to preform special abilities. You are no longer able to view or change the tactics of your party, you either select their abilities manually, or they do their own thing. You can enable, disable, or set abilities as preferred, but your companions have an 8 ability limit in combat too so make sure to set those beforehand. Your potions are limited now as well and health potions can be refilled at camps and such while special potions can be made with herbs at a camp or base. You have to set them to your radial menu in order to use them (I think you can only set 3 types at a time). Oh and archers can move around while shooting now (also there are bowstrings!).That's all I can think to write about the combat system for now, but maybe someone else will expand on it.

Other gameplay: DA:I is focused very heavily on open world exploration and you must accrue a certain amount of "power" points to unlock new areas and progress the main story. You can get these by doing sidequests, killing dragons, establishing camps, closing rifts, and so on. You can choose your race out of Dwarf, Qunari, Elf, or Human and each has a certain amount of race specific dialogue. There is also specific dialogue you can choose if you're a mage, or a human noble. No matter what race you choose you can pick between two voice actors for each gender. You can now make your own weapons and armor with materials and schematics you find. Since the world is large and open, you can pick from a few different types of mounts: horses, harts (giant elk things), dacolisks (dragon looking horse creatures) or giant nugs in various colors and patterns. The war table is an important mechanic in the game and has you sending agents to do different tasks in order to get influence, items, unlock areas, etc...You can have a romance in DA:I and have 3 female and 5 male options out of your companions and advisors.

Music: I thought the music during cutscenes and dramatic main plot moments was very beautiful but to me didn't have as distinct of a style as Origins' soundtrack did. The different open world zones don't have regular ambient music, and instead have occasional clips of 10-30 seconds.

Multiplayer is not my thing so I never tried it, but it seems to be fairly popular on the boards so hopefully someone will be able to answer your questions.

I hope some of that might help ^_^

The soundtrack is amazeballs. (To quote them younguns.) You'll want to use the Keep to set up your world state before playing the game. Otherwise it'll randomize a lot of things in game. Way too much to mention. It takes a while but it's worth it.

Gameplay is about like you'd expect if you played Origins. Warriors are slow, rogues are quick, mages hang back and throw magic out of their staves, etc, etc.

Multiplayer is good fun. They recently added the Darkspawn faction with new enemies, there's a Dragon map with a Dragon boss fight, in addition to the regular Red Templar, Demon and Venatori factions.

I thank you all for the replies. I tried purchasing the game but it won't accept my card information for some reason.

Edit: Should I try adding the funds to my wallet to see if that works?

Well, there are a lot of differing opinions on the gameplay and mechanics to DA:I.  Mine are on the negative side with the ridiculous simplification of things like tactics and limiting the skill bar to eight slots without allowing us access to all abilities as in previous games.  I found combat mechanics to feel overly simplified and kinda boring after a while.  If your most important thing is the music...welllll....the main theme for it is nice, but the rest of it was rather forgettable.

Multiplayer...uggh, multiplayer in DA:I is terrible, nowhere near as good as it was in ME3.  It's dull, just basically you and three people running through a level and killing the things found there.  It's just not well implemented at all, and really should not have been added to this game.

Does EA/Origin have Thanksgiving or Christmas sales for Dragon Age games? if so I can just buy Dragon Age II and Inquisition with all DLCs for both in one go.

Don't know.  I know there have been several sales on the XB1 version, and they always do a big sale around Christmas time.  Last year I got Diablo 3 and Evil Within during that.  I imagine we might see DA:I on that sale around Christmas time this year as well.  Don't know about Steam and what kind of holiday sales they do.

The game is often on sale, but the DLC is not. Also be aware the epilogue DLC is out on Tuesday, which is also $15.

Music is tremendous, and have enjoyed all soundtracks in the DA series.

As for controls, recommend taking the time and re-mapping the control keys to a comfortable design, and then when in game, practice with the Tac-cam during the tutorial and early parts of gameplay. I also recommend setting Graphics Quality to Low; reduces glare and smoke, improves FPS, and FX appear to be more natural, IMO. It may also reduce CTD's; uncertain, as this may be a varied GPU thing.

Believe the banter was fixed for many with the latest Patch. Never had a problem myself, but noticed several postings of recovered dialogue here on the forums.
