So, will asking if Ashley will kiss anyone I order her to ruin any chance for a romance. She seemed to be joking, I was only joking/flirting, but just to be on the safe side, I didn't just "turn her off" did I?

No, you did not turn her off. The romance should continue. As long as you did not pick the "You're out of line!" option when she talks about aliens on the ship, you should still be able to romance her.

Be nice to Ashley and the game will put you in the romance whether you want it or not lol.

yeah the one thing I like about ME's romances is that it's quite simple in that if you're generally nice to your companions it's relatively easy to start a relationship with them. DA's romances are a little harder to lock down but with enough work and you can get on their right side it's possible.

My point was that it's a little too easy. You don't even have to intend to do it; the game does it for you.

Yeah? I found it odd. It surprised me the first time it happened. Although, now that I think about it, her "do you still want me" line could be completely platonic and mean as part of the crew.

Oh please....she basically throw herself at you every time you talk to her. And if you choose to help her instead of Kaidan during a certain battle,there is literally NO WAY you can avoid to let her kiss you...if your Shepard is a male,she's automatically head over heels in love with you...they designed her to be this crazy flirting almost annoying character in ME1...but nevertheless,she's a true hero who's not afraid to sacrifice her life for the galaxy.

Unless your nice to Liara to, then she'll want to have a world with you and unless you tell the alien your not interested in her right there Ash will storm off and that will be the end of that.

Well...in my opinion, noone is throwing herself on Shepard more than Liara does. At least with Ashley it's subtle and if I remember correctly requires some flirting. But Liara just spills it all out ("oh Shepard I think we belong with each other"). I always want to say to her that we don't even know each other very good. At least you get to know Ashley quite a bit and even reveal some information to her as well (you don't in Liara's case).
To be honest I never tried not romancing anyone so I don't know if you can avoid romance with Ash without being mean to her.

I certainly agree but you do have to go through her convos. There no 'friend' option here: if you have 'personal questions' you will certainly have a romance and will have to break up with her. Its a bit of a 'ninja' romance.
Liara is more straight forward - you can turn her down cold right at the beginning.

Probably because BioWare haven't had the gay men romance options back in that game,so she's the default romance option for male Shepard.

You may be right for the default romance, but I think Liara is the canon LI
