Hasmal's templars left the Chantry. The templars started a genocidal war before they took the red lyrium and all templars in Therinfal Redoubt including the rank and file followed Lucius for months and participated in this war. The templars who stayed loyal to the chantry like those in Hasmal survive and that's great, but I won't shed any tears for the templars in Therinfal Redoubt.

Hasmal's templars left the Chantry.
Oh, you're right. But they didn't follow the Lord Seeker or participated in the war.

Many of those templars questioned him and where killed at Therinfal so yeah it's not as simple as you wish to believe.

Don't forget how the templars left in the Order are the mage-hating extremists. While moderates were always a small number in the templars, recent events have drastically reduced their numbers. For starters, many moderates left the Templars when they began the war which reduced the number of moderates in the templars. Then the Conclave explosion killed of lots of moderate Templars who went there to make peace, meaning the templars left are extremists.
The extremism is further supported by the fact that the templars clearly show they are still hating mages:
1. One of Divine Vivienne's endings has the templars straight up refuse to serve her because she is a mage and leave to hunt magic on their own terms
2. The templar at Haven who complains that the Inquisition is doing nothing to hunt down mages if you recruit them
3. During COTJ, ambient dialogue has templars complaining that they are sitting around rather than killing mages, and boasting how nobody can stop the templars or leash them ever again.
Really, this is just some of the evidence that the templars are still the extremist, mage-hating douchebags they've always been. Another reason I'm glad their own hatred of mages resulted in the utter destruction of their order.
