Our Red Templar:

Apologies if they are off slightly, couldn't read a couple of the last digits in your screenshot.

22:44 = 58,947 XP - Tramplar

12:32 = 52,967 XP - Tramplar

10:13 = 30,590 XP - Venatori

Think its pretty clear spawn camping was used in all runs. If it hadn't been used in the 22 minute time, XP would have been much, much higher.

For the time invested, we actually earned more XP. Just throwing that out there.

Crazy fast times!

I figured no one posted Ferelden Castle times because you can skip the longest and most difficult part, so it's not as impressive.

If no one's posting, no one's posting though.

This run wasn't specifically meant to be a speed run, but it was faster than anyone's posted before so why not?

I'd have to get a different group and kits together for speed runs. It is pretty clear your group was built for speed run spawn camping though.

It wasn't the fastest run, seeing as we posted a 15 minute run about a month ago.

Yes, we set up a group for speed because the question posed in the OP was whether or not it was the fastest run, and we wanted to show just how fast Heartbreaker can be if you skip zone 5.  That being said, I didn't dictate what anyone had to play, I only asked that they bring useful classes.

I would really like to see what you can do with a good team setup.  Get on it!

Ha, the players I have understand its sometimes better to bring other classes when asked. They also don't always have every class leveled up. So, I tell them to get on level one's. They're also frequently underpromoted.

I'm actually exploring non-standard team builds. Currently on my list is the Alchemist frost flask--> Silent Sister Hidden Blades / Deathblow combination. Her Knockout bomb --> Virtuoso Power Chord combo is already well known on my build list.

When everything is constantly refrozen, and the SS can spam shatters with SB HB and Deathblow, things should get interesting.

If you don't like being told to get on a level one of a 'useful class', you rightfully shouldn't play with me, as team builds are a past time in my lobbies. Spawncamping is a different meta game that's really anti-team combo play though. I might as well ask three players to go all stealth, hunters and assassins, and let one person do the majority of killing / aggro and the rest snipe with other abilities.

If you don't understand the idea that there's organized playthroughs, that's fine. You don't have to. My parties play more like a tabletop group that fulfills all roles and comes up with some crazy team / party sometimes, rather than retreading the same old things.

Keep them coming. Friendly competition is great. At least I enjoy it.

Need those items for the special weapon...back to FC we go until Snakebite finally gets that Greatsword...or another reason to play HB arises. It's surprising how few players "want" to play HB. I love it. But finding others who would prefer it to NM, since they still need things from NM is pretty tough. Wish there was incentive for them to come along.

St. Bluke, do you plan to up the gold and or up the chances at unique loot for HB? Increased odds at the level 27's possibly? Increased Hakkon drop rate? Increased Descent drop rate? It really would be nice if we had a reason to do at least a HB run or two with higher level kits. Aside from forum Epeen.

Side note: DRAGON STILL ONLY GIVES ME HALF THE GOLD OF A NM BOSS COMPLETION. C'mon now...I'm broke...this dragon is stingy.

Please, give us an incentive to do the old maps. FC is great, but it would be nice to experience a change of pace and not feel like you're gimping your chances at loot. The added gold from the commander is nice, but there is always at least one person in the party that could have had a shot at a Hakkon/dragon item they don't have and that takes priority.

Just curious, whats up with the PS4 crowd never taking part in any of this? From the promotion thread there are plenty of lords over there.

*A whole bunch of stuff about team comp*

I understand team composition is important.  I understand how useful team combos are and how to trigger them (I may be on the leaderboard, but I'm not in first place).  I frequently explore new ways to set up builds with my group to find different useful group compositions.

If you don't understand the idea that there's organized playthroughs, that's fine. You don't have to. My parties play more like a tabletop group that fulfills all roles and comes up with some crazy team / party sometimes, rather than retreading the same old things.

I understand organized playthroughs, but generally there is one or more people that have a vague role, like DPS, where there are multiple options.  These people can choose from a multitude of classes, and their choices can help mix up the games instead of just the classes that one person wants everyone to play.  When I have an idea, I say "Hey, I just thought of something that we should try out sometime".  I don't dictate or try to force things on other people, because they are other people, which seems like something you might forget.

Spawncamping is a different meta game that's really anti-team combo play though. I might as well ask three players to go all stealth, hunters and assassins, and let one person do the majority of killing / aggro and the rest snipe with other abilities.

You know how useful team combos are.  They are always useful.  Saying that they are not useful when blocking spawns shows that you either have no idea how to do it or what works best while doing it.

You should test your idea.  The new aggro management amulets might make it viable now.

It's surprising how few players "want" to play HB. I love it. But finding others who would prefer to it to NM, since they still need things from NM is pretty tough. Wish there was incentive for them to come along.

It's sad when you ask someone if they want to do Heartbreaker, and their response is that they have already done the challenge, so there is no reason to.  The point is that it is fun, the factions feel unique, it's fun, it's more of a challenge, and it's fun.

What would be great is having Darkspawn in Heartbreaker.

The fault of few heartbreaker players lays at the feet of BioWare and their decisions re nightmare.  For every quality keen player that jumps right in the deep end and figures things out there are 4 or 5 that will only move up to a new level if they feel they are legit worthy of it, not being a drain and still being able to have fun by contributing.

The polices re nightmare put a big fat roadblock on that difficulty for many and thus the pool of people playing it, getting better and then being willing to play HB is much smaller than it should be.

LOL you clearly don't know how my parties work. the pick up solution is never going to be as good as the organized solution, because the organized solution can be refined to detail. You can play zone, but I can play specific manned defense because I know what's available.

You know how useful team combos are.  They are always useful.  Saying that they are not useful when blocking spawns shows that you either have no idea how to do it or what works best while doing it.

Saying, You don't know jack, but that is a completely useless without actually explaining. So, care to? I certainly do everywhere. If you cannot or will not, then I call BS.

Andraste's ******, I have trouble enough convincing certain casual friends to come into NM. They cry and whine about it even as they can't deny they want/need the weapons.

HB, most of the time the players I have aren't perfectly ready or promoted, etc. You guys get some fast runs, but its the same people every time. I'm surprised I can get some of the people to win and succeed at all. There's always people complaining about rejoining or whatever it is they want to complain about. Those people aren't winning at all, even with all options available to them.  My guys? They're great. They don't complain, they bring what they can, and we fine tune around what's available and try new strategies.

I'm able to convince the lower promoted folk to do HB, and do it fast. 100% perfect Spawn blocking isn't an option unless at last half all go stealth. There's no way they'd survive with a reaver or virtuoso, and not even silent sister, given their gear and promote level, trying to do perfect speed spawnblocks. We fought to make it easy and relatively quick. Perfect spawnblocking is not possible without a lot more stealth or promotes.

So, are you calling BS that we used team combos in that game?  That's practically all that Proto and I did on our runs.  I shouldn't have to explain how to use team combos to clear faster, but if you insist:

  • Use team combos to clear an area
  • Someone stands there

It's really that simple.  I could provide video of how it is done, but I don't want to get anything nerfed.  :P

You see the same three people in the screenshots.

  1. Me - I have to be in them.  They're my screenshots.
  2. Proto - He is the one who sets up the group and wants to have a little competition with the rest of BSN.  If it weren't for him, we wouldn't even be taking the screenshots.
  3. Martin - He is a friend we play with frequently.  We only took screenshots from two of our sessions.  God forbid they have some of the same people in them.

Do you just assume that I only play Heartbreaker with the same four people?  I'm not going to pug Heartbreaker, and in a lot of my games it's just me and one of my other regular friends with two others that we can scrounge up, whether they be pugs from Nightmare or people on my friends list who are not part of my normal group.  In other words, playing with "people who are not perfectly ready or promoted" does not make you special.

You can just keep making excuses and downplay what we do.  It doesn't change anything.  B)
