Ok so after playing the entire series, I finally got to the 3rd game. I got to final battle with 5419 EMS and a galactic readiness of 99%. In hopes of getting the end where Shepard lives, I chose to destroy the reapers. I've redone the ending 3 times with increased EMS each time, but I have never gotten the scene confirming Shepard is alive. What am i doing wrong? (Yes i have the extended cut.)

It should be popping up after the slideshow and the Normandy taking off from the planet, literally right before the credits roll you should've seen the torso in wrecked N7 armor breathing. If it's not popping up your game's bugged.

Most likely a bug that occurred. It can happen, but I've never experienced this one.

Another indicaton that Shepard lives is that the LI won't put Shepard's name on the memorial wall on the Normandy. I'm not sure what will happen if Shepard does not have a LI in that scene...If you see that, then the game recognized that you got enough EMS to get the breath scene, too.

The "breath scene" is directly before the credits roll and is very short, so it is easily missed.

It's also very dark. The first time my brightness controls were too low and I couldn't make out anything at all. Just a lot of rubble. I heard a gasp of breath but wasn't sure what I was looking at!

I'm not sure what will happen if Shepard does not have a LI in that scene.

If no LI or Shepard romanced Miranda or Jack, someone else will hold the nameplate and not put it on the wall

Shepard did have a LI but he still put her name on the wall. I'm thinking this is just a bug but its starting to become really frustrating.

It doesn't change. I can confirm this because I didn't have a romance and saved Ashley and was female, and Ashley did not put it on there.

Are you on PC? Have you by any chance installed any mods that might touch the endings?

 

Otherwise it seems like some sort of persistent bug and you might need to reinstall the game. I've never experienced this myself.

Are asking becausee of the above post with Ashley being mentioned? The poster had no LI and it was Ashley that held the nameplate

Oh, sorry, I just mentioned it because someone mentioned a the Ashley romance like that, I thought only MShep could, I guess the romance is a mod then

I think what themikefest is saying is that if you don't have an LI and Ashley is alive, then she's the one who puts your nameplate up.

It won't always be her. I've had Samantha hold my nameplate when I romanced Miranda and she held the nameplate when I didn't romance anyone

I figured out why it wasn't working and got the perfect ending! Thanks for the suggestions!
