Apart from ME1 What other inspirations will the game draw from?

I haven't played Dragon Age Inquisition but from what I see I like some things from it but here on BSN it seems that people aren't favorable towards it.

Will ME: Andromeda draw from DA:I's ideas for exploration and classes? or is there some other game that is heavily influencing it? What things from DA:I would you like or wouldn't like to see implemented?

I think the problem people had with DA:I was the pointless side questing. (Too much GO FETCH!)

Try 'near complete vacancy of meaningful conflict and resolution.' Also 'incredibly contrived plot' and 'vapid characters.'

Probably too much, really. It's been my number one worry from the start. People loved Inquisition largely for all the reasons it was kind of a letdown to me. Current industry trends trump "over 100 hours of content" above more "nominal" concerns like a strong driving narrative and meaty campaign.

I definitely like the game more than, say, Bob from Accounting and MajesticJazz, but I'll never not see some of their points.

Well I am still waiting for the last dlc to fully commit to that reasoning.

I like DAI.

I don't want Andromeda to be like DAI. There would be no point in buying the game. I just replay DAI.

I will say that the money men seem to think that "Over X Hours of Gameplay" is an important selling point these days, so I fear that it will have the same bloat as DAI.  I enjoyed DAI, but yeah, there was a lot of unnecessary fetching.

Yeah, that's what I was saying.

This is what sells. All other concerns are secondary. Which translates to less-than-stellar.

I sincerely hope it doesn't but leaks suggest it will probably feature mechanics that are present in DAI like the wartable missions.

Well I'd like to see them take a page from that game that shall go unnamed in regards to improving side/filler content. And as others have said I'm sure we'll get our share of filler with it being such a big trend in the industry right now.

There'll be a ton of filler, I think, and it'll tie into all those outpost raids and such that were listed in the leak. That whole system sounds like a lot of resources would need to be poured into it.

It also sounds like a perfect fit for current gaming trends.

We talking about Witcher 3? If we are then I've heard very good things about it's world and it's side quests. Granted, I haven't played Witcher 3 but one other game that I'd like ME: Andromeda to take inspiration from would be Fallout New Vegas's quest structure and also taking it's faction system but improving on it.

Well going by sales and reviews, Inquisition was met very wonderfully. Going by what I've seen on YouTube videos, i like the fact that Bioware finally added jumping and climbing animations. Also, the areas are pretty large which is a good thing if ME: Andromeda has large enough areas for the mako too and the graphics look good even though some of the body and facial animations aren't so good.

I don't like how the AI is completely static and they don't do much and there aren't enough people in locations and stuff. It doesn't make the world feel alive.

i did, a while ago. I didn't like everything I heard, especially the fuel parts. I do like the part about being over 4 times the size of ME3 though. The most interesting part is the "making alliances" and building settlements tidbit, hoping they have a good faction and reputation system this time. I don't like the parts about Khet outposts on multiple planets purely for XP purposes and the strike missions sound like something I've done in a mobile game so I don't like that either.

Reading it again, it sounds a lot like ME2 with fuel and collecting resources and unlocking new powers through loyalty missions.

The stuff about 100s of explorable planets and outpost raids were the most worrying bits from the leak for me. Maybe DA:I was just fresh in my mind, but it reminded me of some of what I thought were the worst aspects of that game.

tbh, i like the wartable missions in DAI, i think its more efficient that way when the plot demands it. i think ME:A will have that feature, but i really do think they can improve on that.

why are you worried? its 100s of planets to EXPLORE! :) i think its awesome and i love it. but i'm MORE worried about the content those planets will have.. i dont want fetch quests. i wont mind 10% fetch quests, but not more. i'm more worried about what we will do inside those planets. i hope more story driven side quests that introduces unique characters. and i dont mind if they're not related to the main plot, that's what side missions are for. exploring something different. get away from the main plot if you're not feeling doing so. i hope we get more of that and less fetch quests. :)

After a while in TW3 though you realise you don't need to bother with all those '?'s marked on the map... one hidden smuggler's loot location is much like another.

The actual quests and side-quests are generally good, well written or fit the character role - apart from the odd moment slightly early on where you are Geralt of Rivia, Professional Monster Hunter, the Butcher of Blaviken ... and a couple of yokels in a pub decide to pick a fight with you O_o

                                                                                                    <<<<<<<<<<()>>>>>>>>>>

Exploration focus worries me.

Bio hyped the FB3 graphics capabilities that can generate planetary terrain (ie: see DAI). Add ME:A is  massive + Mako + possible hundreds of planets to explore + artists customizing planetary maps and what cooking recipe do we get? ... Repeatable Elf root loot animations ad nauseam?

If the hints that the Khet are antagonistic towards the human race is true and that searching Remnant ruins for advanced tech to fend off or beat the Khet becomes a survival strategy, then we have another DAI like search quests.

Story wise, can anyone think of what to do with 50+ or 100+ planets available to be explored with a Mako?  How often will we be seeing the  cinematic of the Mako drop from the air and drive off speedy gonzales like?

Meaningless NPC side quests handed out in the main "Citadel" like Hub (from concept art) as a time filler.

Content will be watered down from marketing hype just like DAI.

Hundreds of planets to explore, such as Planet Hinterlands, Planet Hissing Wastes, and Planet Storm Coast! Experience the joy of driving the Mako fifty times around the same hill as you try to figure out how the hell to get up there while being attacked every five seconds by constantly respawning giant alien rats. Hidden somewhere on each planet are 12 to 24 statues of Elvis that you must find in order to get access to a secret vault that will contain nothing of interest. In order to locate them, you must first find and climb up to the Ancient Peepholes and look through them, while your companions make amusing quips about how silly this all is and how you're wasting precious time. Also, be sure to stop and get out of the Mako to pick up all of the fascinating herbs and minerals unique to each planet. You will need tons of them, and each and every one must be picked up by you, by hand. Keep an eye out for unremarkable events that don't concern you -- they are probably quests! If you are unsure whether something is a quest or not, don't worry, your Quest Log will direct you toward their completion and tell you when you're done, as it is not always clear.

If I have to stop the Mako every 2 seconds to pick up a rock I will be sad. I liked the emptiness of the ME1 planets and the Hissing Wastes in DAI. Stretches of driving in an atmospheric environment beats the busywork of constantly picking up miniscule amounts of mostly unused crafting materials. I'd rather have several big caches spaced far apart than one gram or iridium every 10 feet. But I actually enjoyed ME2 planet fondling, so what do I know.
