Odd bugs since latest patch and Trespasser DLC

Don't know if this was already mentioned but my game crashes when I upgrade and use the new X-toggle abilities. For example, every time I cast Fire Mine, the game crashes to desktop.


I haven't had a CTD based on the toggles yet, but there have been some CTD's reported, in regards to Trespasser. I myself added my own CTD experiences, in a thread located in General (non-spoilers). For me though, just turning down "Effects" from Ultra to High, seemed to do the trick (it was the same trick I used for two spots in The Descent, where I was known to CTD). Have you tried another PC who was not a mage, and used the toggles? If so, was it the same result as your mage?
 
 

Wait, that tail on the outerwear Skyhold outfit isn't supposed to be there? It's on my human male rogue (in both versions of the outfit), I thought everyone had that, holy crap.  No wonder it clips so weirdly, if it's a bug.


Yeah...this is a weird one. The tails only seem to show up on human males. I have yet to see it on any other race (male or female), nor did it happen with my human female. Plus, the tails look sooo wonky/clippy, I just can't believe it is on purpose. But why it only affects human males... :blink: Guess they are truly "Special Little Snowflakes". :lol:
 
 

I posted this on the What did you do today thread yesterday - My KE has fire mine but does not have it active in her spells since I switched her to electricity, yet it showed her using it.  And I was not sure if she actually used it since Dorian was in the party and does have fire mine active.  By the time I got done nursing Sara and got back to Caitlyn it was over with.  Someone else said they saw Viv using spirit blade when they didn't have it active for her.  So it might possibly be all inactive spells this is happening on?

YES! (or rather NO!) That is exactly what happens with the Firewall bug. And if someone has also seen it with SB, then there may be some seriously strange bug associated with non-active skills/spells. Though, so far we are only seeing it with mages. Hrmmm.

Interesting thought! Is it possible BW was attempting to extend how many active abilities we could have? Or is that just too out there (with a dash of "wishful thinking")? B)

Will look at updating the OP soon. Actually played my first ever match of MP! :D Took a while to work out some bugs (that would have been hilarious, had I been able to record them. XD )

Yes, it was enabled in tactics.  I never disable anything in tactics. It just was not slotted active.

Also should point out the Sigil of the Bear doesn't seem to always grant 100 stamina.  You'll know it stopped working if suddenly your mana regen bottoms out but you still only have 100 stamina.  I was able to fix it...I think.

Has anybody noticed odd behavior with Sera and/or when using bows?

I've had Sera in the party twice since the patch (both times with different frost bows), and sometimes her shots just won't hit the target. They either arc (like they're being affected by gravity) and fall short, or they impact the air at a weird angle and just float there (and the target doesn't take any damage).

It only seems to be a problem for her basic attacks, and it can happen even when I take control of her.

Post patch, for the first time the game just POoofs, gone, zip, restart.  Doesn't matter if it is in combat, walking around, one area more than another, sometimes just standing outside Skyhold it just poofs.  *shrugs*  Guess we need a patch to patch the patch?

Sorry for being slow at updating OP. I did change the title of thread, to reflect bugs that were (most likely) introduced with the DLC (i.e. sigils that Bigdawg mentions).

Has anybody noticed odd behavior with Sera and/or when using bows?

I've had Sera in the party twice since the patch (both times with different frost bows), and sometimes her shots just won't hit the target. It only seems to be a problem for her basic attacks, and it can happen even when I take control of her.

It's not just Sera. I have Cole built as an Archer, same thing happens. I get floating arrows after every combat. 

 

It never occurred to me that those are misses. I'll have to pay more attention next time.

I've gone back to testing with my tempest archer. I to have noticed some similar occurances with both Sera and archer Cole (made him one, for my last run through Trespasser, since she was a dw assassin rogue).

Anyone notice if this has also been happening with Varric?

Will post my results tomorrow, after I play a bit more. But bed time for now. ;)

I don't think so, but I haven't had him in the party enough recently to be sure.

Thats not mana surge its your damn shield. The best defence shield causes this due to its special. There is a reason i stopped using it as it builds up potency till it discharges every 5th shield wall block.

 

So get rid of the shield, i know i did.

I meant no disrespect truly. I'm all for non-standard choices.
Anyway I found an interesting bug with in hushed whispers. Outside the gate was major slow down and circles on the ground.
The circles were new so I'm not sure if that's just having my graphics turned up a bit but the slow down seemed to lock everyone in place. When I tried to dispel the rift it didn't proceed.
Everyone moves a lot now I've found. Anyway I noticed in that fight the arrows hanging in the air for a long time before eventually hitting their target. I've noticed this before too. Mainly Lag Cave, I mean Descent. Maybe try turning down the graphics a bit?

What I noticed soon after the patch. At the beginning I thought it might be only my problem, but I asked a friend and he's experiencing the same. So I decided to post here.

2H upgrades schematics are not listed in inventory. They are visible on crafting table, you can craft them and all, but schematics are not visible in your inventory. And it seems to be only 2H upgrades problem.

 

Edit: It seems they're listed, but in 1H category o.o

The best defense, its special effect initially seems pretty good until it starts to completely annoy you.

Ice Mine array can be buggy. I've noticed that sometimes if traveling between zones or loading a game- you can't even press the button to lay down an Ice Mine- it is grayed out. If you go into abilities and toggle to the single mine and then toggle back- that seems to fix it.

 

Also- for anyone doing Trespasser- I found a glitch on the last battle scene- got the final boss down to exactly 1 health point. At that point he began to levitate and was completely immune from all attacks- but he was still putting out those rings of electricity (or whatever they are). Then went on for about two minutes while my party all died- so had to re-do the battle.

The circles aren't new. That's the effect of Alexius' time magic (they appear all throughout In Hushed Whispers). The green circles speed you up, and the yellow circles slow you down.

I'm not sure what your other problems were from.

Work ended up taking all my time today (stupid job). Will be going in to steer Varric for a bit, and see if he too is having issues with "hanging arrows", or those that don't reach/penetrate their target. Will run with my Archer PC at the same time.

Will also equip as many new schematics as possible. Mostly to see if they are fun/worthwhile, but also to see if there are any issues with them.

Has anyone else tried the Sigil of the Bear, to see if they too ran into no stamina regain? (@Bigdawg mentioned it, near the top of this page.)

I am not turning on any trials yet, so testing is vanilla on normal difficulty.

Anyone else noticing visual glitches with armor/weapon/wardrobe, or in any of the menus or inventory (besides the 2hder schematics under the 1hder tab)? Feel free to post pictures, and I will add them to the OP.

Thanks guys. Stupid trolly shield.  <_< cold, that actually happened to me on my second playthrough. Varric's cutscene wouldn't initiate. He just said, "I'll be here if you need me." I have no idea what triggered it as it was literally the first thing I do during Trespasser.

That is really weird. :blink: Huh.

I get some plot flags not always being read or triggered correctly, but damn. These are major cutscenes. I didn't even know the two I mentioned existed, till I read a few post on Sunday referring to those two scenes.

There's definitely something weird going on here.

I was running with Varric today, and even though he doesn't have Elemental Mines on his bar, in nearly every fight he throws out elemental mines (basically pissing away half his stamina).

This is happening even though the ability is set to disabled in tactics (the AI is trash with this ability, so I disabled it back when I did have it on his bar, and it's been set that way ever since). Even stranger, he doesn't actually have the upgrade for Elemental Mines, but he always throws out a one-shot grenade (always—it's never the normal mines).
 
This definitely seems like a bug with certain abilities and not a feature (I'd know if Cassandra started spamming Blessed Blades again, for instance—most inactive abilities remain unused by the AI), and there's no way I could see to make it stop (short of possibly redoing his abilities and not taking Elemental Mines, which isn't an option).

@devsin - Blarg. Bad enough it is happening with some consistency with mages, but if the other classes are affected... :wacko:

Just a quick suggestion, because it did seem to work with Fire Wall, try going into the tactics, toggle enable/disable a few times. I may have even stuck it on Dorian and Solas' ability slots, just while doing that. All I know, is that at least on that play through, I stopped seeing non-slotted or disabled Fire Wall, randomly trigger.

At least with the FW spell, I wasn't seeing the mana decrease. Really sucks that Varric loses stamina on this. :P
