I was hoping that it was just popping out for free, but because Elemental Mines is so costly, it seemed pretty clear that it was taking his stamina (I'd see a big mine come bouncing out at the start of a fight, and Varric would only have half his stamina left).
My guess right now is that it's only trap spells (the mines and walls). Which isn't terrible for me (the AI doesn't use Ice Wall, and I have the ice and fire mines and Fire Wall already set to be used normally). But having Varric blow all his stamina throwing out a mine when the nearest enemy is 50 yards away is really obnoxious (and I have to take him into Descent next).

Probably related, but have not seen it mentionned here.
Restarted a new game, with the first 3 in trials. Noticed that in tactical mode quite often selected spells appears to simply mis-fire as if there was no target. By that I mean that:
1) there is a live target selected and the attack icon is over it's head. - the target is in LOS, often right next to the mage.
2) the spell proc, but the effect (visual) miss the targeted character completely, for example a freeze will show the effect way beyond the target, or lightning will just proc in empty places
3) no mana appear to be used, and the spell is selectable again.
4) no damage on the target
5) repeatable ad infinitum.
Seems to get fixed once I move my mage - but not always.
This is in addition to the odd meat shields becoming immobile for a while.
Now, is it something else, or is it part of this thread bugs?

Uh...potions are either unusable when starting a new game and prior to the pride demon, or they don't appear at all.
Also some enemies do not deplete health in Hinterlands...

The new upgrade to elemental mines on my rogues doesn't always work. Even though I have it upgraded and toggled to the One Shot upgrade they Throw Everything instead. They spell on my action bar won't change to the One Shot no matter what I do. I've tried taking it off and on my action bar and reloading. I've loaded a previous save before upgrading and got it to work but other than that it's bugged.

Will be uploading videos of sigil bugs and Combat bugs soon. Bigdawg13 mentioned sigil of great bear bugged. Confirmed its bugged for inquisitor, but not for companions. Same for sigil of deathroot. Bugged for inquisitor, but not for companions.

I noticed in the video that you showed the lack of stamina from Skyhold. Go to a combat area and test it. I haven't been able to verify again, the sigil of the bear bug. I'm starting to wonder if I was running a reaver at the time and RoP drains stamina by %.
Also the enemies freezing bug is the same as what happens to companions. For companions just switch to them and have them jump. For enemies...well...uh....yeah.

Thats not mana surge its your damn shield. The best defence shield causes this due to its special. There is a reason i stopped using it as it builds up potency till it discharges every 5th shield wall block.
So get rid of the shield, i know i did.
Thanks for confirming this. I started using that shield last night and this effect was annoying me no end. I've not played s&s warrior in DAI yet, so I wasn't sure what was causing it. Removing the shield didn't make the effect go away, and neither did using shield wall, in or out of combat, so I'm assuming the effect is glitched?
Does the effect still happen if you simply don't use shield wall at all? I'm playing as a dorf, and this shield design is just spot on perfect for her, size, shape, everything. It'd be a shame to have to ditch it completely, but I'd be prepared to not use shield wall. Does it only build up potency when using shield wall (that's what the description in-game suggests), or will it build it up regardless? I'm pretty certain the effect only started after I'd taken shield wall - I can't remember if I'd been using it much though (everything's dying too quickly at the moment - I'm low levelled and wearing high tier stuff thanks to the golden nug - just bumped everything up to nightmare).

I have not tried out any of the Sigils yet, but will add info that others report, to the OP. Can easily modify, should other tests reveal different results.
The Flame Wall bug, "appears" to be remedied with the 'toggle on/toggle off', in tactics. I have now run both PC's and companions who have a skill point in FW, that are no longer animating it, after I did this little trick. I still am unsure if it will last, though, so I will leave the original post as is, for the time being.
Flask of Fire seems to be WAI. Whatever "glitch" I was experiencing with my two archers, isn't happening any longer. (Just a quick recap, after the last patch my two archers couldn't use Long Shot more than twice, after using an upgraded FoF, even though the effect was still applied and LS showed as being available to use.) Everything for FoF and LS, are working fine now. No changes, so it must have just been some weird.....BLAH...dunno! LOL! Will remove from OP.

I love the look of this shield as well! My elven S&S is all set to use it, and I DON'T use SW with her. I will give it a try and see what happens. Really hope there is a way around that annoying effect....because Ari Lavellan NEEDS DIS!

This thing with judgment was happening even before last patch. But I never heard of this.
It's really strange
The first time it happened it skipped the cut scene went straight to the demon fight, the demon took no damage, ran out of potions and thought I was going to have to try again when it cut to the scene where you pick the warden or Hawke. This time the scene happened with no sound.

Like @Rascoth said, the Judgement "bug(s)", have been around since before this patch. But Dayum! You got it bad. Sorry 'bout that.
As for the Fade bit, never heard that one before.

I have just encountered a very odd bug in the Western Approach, where everyone (party and enemies both) suddenly encountered very great difficulty running through the sand. The "run" and attack animations were working, so it wasn't the A.I. getting stuck. No one could actually reach each other to hit someone. Happily, I had three ranged fighters, though the other two didn't attack unless I controlled them. It resolved itself as soon as combat ended and my party could move freely again

This may have also fixed the issue with Varric casting Elemental Mines. I went to one area and changed it to enabled (and he still threw out the big mines nearly every fight), and then the next time I traveled to a different area with Varric in the party, I switched it back to disabled.The Flame Wall bug, "appears" to be remedied with the 'toggle on/toggle off', in tactics. I swear I heard the detonation sound once after a fight (the mines detonate on their own after a while), but I never actually saw him cast it and didn't hear it again (maybe it was a spike trap or something).
It's still an issue that he'll cast it without having the upgrade and with the ability not even slotted, but I think the toggle may have done the trick for now.

It's silly, because the camera is just pointing at nothing instead of having the spirit float by and sacrifice itself to weaken the nightmare.

I've noticed the Horn of Valor problem as well. I have Cass set to spam it as a preferred skill. She still blows the horn, but I don't see the buff status icon on any of the characters during the duration.

I don't know if this helps anyone but I have also seen the Horn of Valor bug. I first used it with Blackwall as I decided he would be a battlemaster type when I first got him. I then just spent all his points in Battlemaster with a few points in sword and board. Then suddenly noticed the guard on the whole party started to investigate it. Then I saw the Horn of Valor skill and was in shock. Then I decided to give this ability to Casandra, but the guard never builds when she uses it. After several testing and party swapping, I discovered that when I reset Blackwall skills I get the same bug as with Casandra where the horn goes off, the icon shows up as a buff but nobody builds guard on damage. So I had to settle for Blackwall being a sword and board instead of a two handed warrior. Anybody know if they are going to fix this? Maybe if you guys really want this skill to work for now, I just thought I would share what I found out. Maybe if on your PC you got all Battlemaster it might work. I didn't get any others skills with Blackwall till after i had almost maxed the Battlemaster tree. Thus every time I reset Blackwall I see the bug show up.

They are definitely not going to, since they mentioned that they are done and are currently working on their next project. About horn of valor tho, they did fix both upgrades. The bug I notice with horn of valor is if a companion has a elemental pact belt, sometimes guard wont generate. All I do is take the belt off then put it back on the character. When the warrior uses horn of valor, the companion with the pact belt should start generating guard. Im still testing to see if theres a bonus damage to the first upgrade, I don't notice it at all, but I do notice an increase in armor.
Off topic, ive been wondering if superb corrupting rune works properly against humanoids, creatures, and beasts. Not sure if it exactly does, but I did notice when I use it against red Templars, separate damage numbers pop up.
