My sentiments exactly.
You said it better than I could've!

Depending on the various factions of gamers, there's always going to be those that avoid RPG's.
I've got some die-hard FPS friends that want nothing to do with any other type of game.
Likewise,
I have friends that only play sporting games.
And racing, et cetera.

Do I think that they're limiting themselves? Sure,
But it's their choice and who am I to tell them what they should/shouldn't play?

But that said,
There's a line where their input should be evaluated on their gaming style as opposed to blanket statements such as "we want more FPS'er." Etc.
This type of input coming from a FPS fan makes sense. But not in Madden's NFL 2017.
Likewise,
An RPG fan saying "we want romance in NASCAR 2018."
Doesn't make any sense.
So it needs to be evaluated on where it's coming from rather than statistics based on random data.
